It was 8 nights and 9 days. But, due to hurricane Irene we didn't get to ride the first day. We did a Sonoma trip last September with Sojourn. Joshua was one of our guides. We did Chalk Hill but...
Nice to see the posts about the WAVE. I was out of town this week and I'm just catching up. It was good to finally get to say hello to Mimi since I enjoy her posts, now I can put a voice to them. ...
We have been back from our VT to QC trip for a couple of weeks now. We renamed it Tour de Irene since our first day was washed out by the hurricane. We were lucky that we had no power outages and...
It wouldn't be the WAVE if we didn't get bit wet. I helped put the goody bags together last weekend and we had amazing weather. What difference a week makes.
Looking forward to yet another...
Have a safe, wonderful journey!
Mimi - Last year I had the pleasure (and fun) of working with Don loading the trucks for RAMROD (we missed him this year, but he did a great job w/ porta potty duty since they were everywhere I...
I use it on my bare titanium bike, as recommended by the builder. It also works fairly well to clean up white bar tape, but I really make sure I rub it off with an old cotton towel.
I don't have any experience camping in Portland. However, I do remember reading this by Willie Weir.

Bicycle Times.
+1 for Bikeworks. They have genuinely appreciated everything we've donated.
Been a while since I checked in! Yes, I am riding since I volunteered last year. I'll be volunteering again this year...hopefully assigned to loading the trucks in Monroe again. Training is a wee...
"Every Woman's Guide to Cycling: Everything You Need to Know, From Buying Your First Bike to Winning Your First Race" by Selene Yeager is a decent place to start. I've passed my copy on, but I'm...
You've only just begun. ;-)
I found his blog.
I know someone who did this route going east to west. Hopefully this ride will make a few people think about what they do behind the wheel.
Chile Hilly (PNW pun). Great skills. And an amazingly stable camera.
For the mat, we purchased the inexpensive carpet runner by the linear foot from one of the home improvement stores. I haven't used the trainers that you are considering, but give another vote for...
Mine is pretty loose (& ninja-like...now that is funny!). Once I get going, I kind of like that the looseness gives me a bit of ventilation. Granted, I haven't used it below about 25 degrees, so...
I consider my proficiency with snot rockets just another one of my cycling skills. However, I did catch myself recently walking between buildings at work on a chilly morning ready to launch one! ...
Oh man...I was just thinking the other day the my bike lust was cured. Apparently not. Slawta really is a craftsman & artist. I never saw bikes that pretty when I lived in Tustin.
Thanks to Susan & Thorn, we booked this trip for next August. It seems so far off! Both of you are great writers & I appreciate you sharing your experiences.
Itchy Undie. I have no idea if it is anywhere close to correct, but it is what I can remember.
I just noticed this post. DH & I rode with Donnie of Go Cycling Maui back in the spring. We didn't do Haleakala, but did ride from Kula south and then east on Hwy 31. The headwinds heading back...
We must see pictures of your set up! It sounds very festive. I don't have the OEM reflectors, but do have a hub generator & light on the front & a DiNotte taillight that people complain about as...
I use Spokelites, in green http://www.hokeyspokes.com/spokelit.htm
Very inexpensive, but do require CR2032 batteries. They put off an alien-green bright glow in the pitch dark.
A guy at work...
