Thanks girls, I had been thinking about the first one (first link I posted) because it seemed the bundle was good value. Mats don't seem to come less than £50, front blocks - the cheapest I could...
Hi Guys,
I am a very wobbly beginner so I'm not looking to do kick *** training, just a little session several times a week when it's snowing etc. I would really appreciate opinions on these three...
Bless you girls :) five days on and I'm feeling better than expected, so I'm hoping it may be weeks rather months before I can have a little ride!
Thanks Hebe, I know I'll be fine when I get back into the swing. It helps to tell myself that there is no rush, no date by which I have to be performing at a certain level. I'm doing it for enjoyment...
I must say I am very glad of your 'mistake' Sundial. I only began learning to ride very recently at age 51 and, due to some health problems following the first couple of weeks, the gaps between...
Thanks for remembering Hebe. I put it back because I didn't feel ready to get enough out of it for it to be worthwhile and I was finding pushing too quickly was taking the pleasure out of taking my...
That's brilliant Roadtrip. You should be really proud :D
That's greats! Like Hebe I found it inspiring. Well done with it all. Were you dieting to lose the 50lbs or is that just a result of cycling?
Oh well done ! Cudos the last two posters
Hello and welcome. I can't add anything to the suggestions made by the other girls. I am also new here and to riding (only sat on a bike for the first time a few weeks ago). I get the impression that...
I'm sure some British men may wear suspenders, but not in public. Are US suspenders what we call braces? i.e. Straps over the shoulders, holding up pants?
imagine the reaction on this side of the pond to fanny pack - see PamNY's explanation above
It's quite compressive I think. I have only got as far as the B's, but I feel compelled to clarify that any road is only used to mean anyway by working class folk in Yorkshire and parts of Lancashire...
pamny is clearly in the know. What you call a fanny pack, we call a bum bag!
No, I'm stuffed means the same thing over here, but how would you react if after the meal, a guy said "I'm just going out for a fag" and don't even get me started on the term Fanny pack:eek:
Cataboo, I looked at the link and I see the last example used by cyclist is I bonked really badly. Now no-one wants to bonk badly :o
LOL, well I guess if the British version is does right, energy gell or a drink might still be beneficial ;)
I have come across the phrase "I bonked" referring to being on a bike a couple of times recently. I was somewhat taken aback initially. Then I was intrigued as to how such a thing could be managed...
Welcome :) what a lovely name you have chosen.
Does steer with your chin mean pointing your chin where you want to go?
Hi Laura,
Welcome. I'm fairly new here myself. I am 51 and never sat on a bike before a few weeks ago. Like you though, I feel it is the exercise for me, it's just so freeing and fun isn't it? I...
I just go out practicing with my partner and I push myself a little more out of my comfort zone each time. I do Bikeability level one (apparantly all about control and riding around cones) on 28th.
My God woman, you're a heroine
My antics tend to be outlined on the New Riders section. There are several of us mature newbie's on there and I have just generated a Newbie weekly achievements thread. :)
