I know there are many rain jacket threads here on TE, but here goes: I'm looking for a waterproof, packable rain jacket for touring. I'd like it to be good for on and off bike use. I currently use a...
It was just too loose. I completely loosened the barrel adjuster and reattached the rear derailleur cable. My chain hopped onto the largest cog after a little tightening of the adjuster. A friend...
I cut the housing with electrical cable snips. I reshaped the ends after the cut, but did not look for or remove burrs. I'm pretty confident that the housing's routed correctly and seated well in the...
Thanks Hi Ho Silver - I had been keeping my tensioner in a neutral/middle setting so I would be able to tighten or loosen if needed. I'll try again with it completely loose.
My rear derailleur was working fine up to the point when my shifting cable snapped. I don't think it needs to be replaced (although I'll try ridebikeme's test later today).
Yes, I changed the cable...
Today was a day of firsts: first day to change shifting cables, first day to (almost correctly) adjust my derailleurs. Also, in case this is part of the problem, I put on a new chain/cassette combo....
Actually my shorts were old enough so I decided this particular pair needed to be retired. I've never had problems with them before.
This is a pretty new bike, so I haven't put a lot of miles on it...
I agree, great answer. I'll fiddle with this saddle a little more before I give up on it ... Different position, different shorts, different day might all the change I need.
I would be so sad if that was the case. Are there any other good leather saddles out there?
I remeasured - at home so it might not be the most accurate- and got 130 c to c and 150ish from outside to outside. When I sit on my B17 it seems like my sit bones are just inside the metal plated...
Hi all,
I had to end my first bike tour early due to saddle sores (or at least the beginning of them). :( The sore spot is the same on both sides and is just to the outside of the forward-most...
I'm going to fly or ship my bike for a tour this winter. I haven't bought a case yet, mainly 'cause I can't figure out what to do with it while I'm riding. It's a point to point tour, so I can't just...
I'd read "touring saddles should be wider" on several different saddle sites. Their justification is that, when touring, you spend more time sitting on the saddle vs shorter rides where you're either...
My road bike is outfitted with a saddle I think is perfect for me: a SI turbomatic, a good shape and a good width (153mm). I'm now trying to order a saddle for my touring bike. Obviously road and...
If you're in the New England area during this ride, you should do it. It's well organized, a good challange (hilly), and had a great party at the end.
Thanks for all your input - it made me a little less anxious about riding. I did finish the ride. The ride was much hillier than my past centuries, so I'm not sure which issues I can attribute to...
I donated blood last week. I have a century ride this weekend and I'm a little nervous about my performance since I'm down a pint. Has anyone else given blood in the middle of biking season? How long...
Has anyone ridden the Harpoon point to point? I'll be riding it next weekend and am not sure what to expect.
I did the lobster ride last year. What everyone says is true - well supported, energetic people, good food at the end :-) I did the century and the roads on the last 1/2 really needed to be repaved,...
I purchased a SI Turbomatic saddle based on the opinions and knowledge I gathered from this site. (You ladies told me more T shaped and less padding when I last posted about my saddle woes.) It is an...
feltsl3, did you ever find a solution to this problem? I've had the exact same issue lately with my PI shorts.
I think the Ruby was just too firm. I'll order a Jett, wait for my butt to heal, and give it a try. Thanks for all your help!!
I actually tried a Ruby before the Lithia. I couldn't get comfortable on it, but I certainly didn't have any of these problems. Maybe my sores are more a squish issue than a saddle shape issue.
There is stitching in the area that rubs. I've never used chamois cream and am not sure if it would help my issue since it's near the edge of the chamois.
The Lithia is pretty squishy. Would it...
