I have ridden my Karate Monkey single speed for almost a year and I use it mostly anywhere but trails. I have ridden fun simple trails on it. It is a really fun bike.

Another possibility might be a Surly disc LHT. I just started riding with disc brakes and they do a great job.

I think you should also consider a custom build on a Surly Karate Monkey which can be set up as a drop bar bike and built up like you would like. Another choice for handlebars might be Jones H bars.

Speedplay Drillium pedals are what I use on my LHT. I really like them and slipping is a non issue. I have a black LHT and the pedals are black and I think they looks good.
