Well a true road bike with drops is all about performance. Obviously everyone has different goals on their bike.
Your bike works wonderful for you and how you use it.
It wouldn't work for me....
I got a PM from him too about the same thing.
OH yeah! It sucked me in. I bought one for my Birthday... all for myself and I ate about 60% of it before I passed it over to my coworkers.
I agree with the above statement. :)
A 14-15 mph average can be FAST for a newbie.
Use lower gearing and if your gearing doesn't go low enough, go to the LBS and look at getting a triple, etc. to get lower gearing.
You can make it up those hills if you can spin out those pedals...
General entry just means that you didn't place in your AG at a qualifying race to get entry to an IM. Or you are not pro/elite racer.
Some races sell out on site (which means you have to spend...
WOW! Talk about a sucky night last night.
First I did 1 hour of hill repeats on the bike. My typical Thursday night ride. Of course, it was all headwind UP the hill. Blah. I was lathargic at best...
Great job! Congratulations! You had a really solid race and came in UNDER your goal! That always rocks!
WOW! Congratulations! That was a LONG tri for your first one! Great job! Those hills sound BRUTAL!
Great picture! You look like you are so happy... and ready to do another one!
It's fine to do the swim and bike distances. For my HIM training plans, I have actually ridden up to 65-70 miles.
Look at it this way... 56 miles needs to be EASY. Just a typical weekend ride-ya...
Urela- tempting, but smart to stick with the 50K. 100 miler next time. :) Blow out the 50K! Leave it all on the course!
Colby, I'll look at my running store for those. I need quick laces. My...
I WISH I had purchased a sleeveless wetsuit as my wetsuit. I am contemplating selling the current full wetsuit that I own. The sleeveless made the world of difference to me... aka: I didn't mind...
Looks like you had a great race! Congratulations!
I can't believe they let you wear a wetsuit. Here in Texas, if the water is warm, wetsuits are not legal.
Great job overall!
Yeah, at my...
Congratulations! Sounds like you will enjoy all the new challenges this sport will offer you!
Good luck this coming weekend!
Congratulations Molly! Sounds like you had a nice race!
Yeah, I am ALWAYS slower in open water than I am in a pool. Just the way it is. :)
At the end of 2008 I had gotten a friend tied into doing a walking marathon with me for May 2009.
She was coming off the sofa (although relatively fit) and I was coming off an Ironman.
I...
Ran 4 miles on the treadmill Monday night. Running outside in 102 degree heat at 6:00 PM is just too much for me.
Showing regular women means more women will think "I can do it".
If all people see on TV are these human specimens that represent triathletes... they think "Never me- I don't look like THAT!"

I WISH I had bought a sleeveless wetsuit. I won't even swim in my wetsuit with sleeves... I hate it. I really need to sell it and get some money back on it.
The sleeveless was great because it...
Great race ... especially considering the lack of training.
Shoot, I trained my butt off for my first HIM.. had a coach... and did it in 7:15. So yeah, you beat my time with little to no...
A couple of years back I had a good experience with Trisports.com. I basically bought and returned around 6 wetsuits.
Well Aly, what are your goals? Are you enticed by distance events... or are you more interested in saying, "I can run x miles at x pace". ????
I took my friend (relatively healthy girl) from sofa...
Crankin... Rest can be a VERY good thing!
I got a stress fracture during my marathon in May... so I took 6 weeks off, no running.
And you know what? I'm back- faster than I have ever been....
Ran yesterday... hills... 93 degree heat and humidity. Whipped me big time. Should have done 6 miles, only made it for. I was toast at the end!
Kept a 9:30 mm though, so happy about that. Even...
