I love my helmet. It loves me. We both send love in your direction, FishDr.

Arnica is a good thing for bruises. Not so much for open wounds. I use Boiron brand arnica gel on bruises and strains. It's weird how well it works... (insert appropriate Twilight Zone music here).

Garlic cures everything (depression to eczema! Poverty to flatulence! Cures it all!). I've finally refined my guacamole recipe: one avocado. Enough lemon juice to fill the pit-cavity of one half the avocado. One clove of garlic (through a press) Salt equivalent to 1/4 the clove of garlic. Mash it all up with reckless abandon. Consume on appropriate carbohydrate loaded wafer. (rice cakes, tortilla chips, etc.)

And bruise medicine - never knew such a thing existed. I could definitely use it today. It seems that I rolled as I hit the pavement. I can feel ALL the bruises today. At least it helps me put the pieces together that I can't remember.

We had this discussion elsewhere somewhere here: rolling vs sudden crash. And you can't ever control/predict/think which is right to do, happens too fast. Luckily your body just knew what to do.

I think it comes down to that sometimes, muscle memory.

Rolling you're going to bruise maybe a lil' road rash. But that heals. It's those sudden stops that cause real bad harm or worse.

Yeah, arinica is an herbal stuff that's available in gel, powder, even tea. You can take it internaly, externaly, my Aikido instructor says to do both.

It's never done much for me but millions of people I throw around in the dojo swear by it. :cool:

Trek - thanks! It's wierd how the body just reacts. I'm grateful mine reacted well and didn't freeze up (like Bikeless said).

My mind feels better today, too. I was not myself yesterday. I felt so out of it all day. Just kind of wandering around in a daze. Today I got up, showered - it's not easy shaving legs with roadrash and stiffness - and made blueberry buttermilk pancakes with a dash of cinnamon. Yummm. All of the encouragement here can't help but improve my mood :)

And tomorrow - hopefully the bike will be fixed. I haven't named her yet. Gotta work on that.

Fishdoc, just got home from two days of riding/not forum reading. Hope you're feeling better! The bruise inside your leg probalby happened when you twisted your saddle around- that used to always happen to me MTBing!!

Absolutely no pressure on the squooshy bits, but I am not sure I like how it felt on the sit bones. I think it was contacting bones that had never sat on anything before! Great on the aerobars. Wish I could afford one...

I just checked in the "new" eagle babies. Not fledged yet, but one is almost as big as mom! Still have squeaky baqby voices. Oh wait, that never goes away, does it?

Hey Nanci - I'm feeling a bit better. The saddle caused the bruise - that sounds right. I hadn't thought of that as a possibility. That would explain why the left side (the side on which I landed) has a worse bruise.

That Adamo saddle is really bizarre looking. I'm not sure it looks comfy. I can see why there's no pressure on the squishy parts, though. The back end looks odd. Is it wide? Hard to tell from the pic.

I'll have to check out the eaglets. I'm kinda stuck sitting here working on hubby's woodworking website. Don't feel much like gardening today, ya know? I think the headache is finally gone!

What I especially liked about the Adamo (means pleasure in Italian!!) saddle was that it was obviously very well-made. Beautiful leather, titanium rails. The rear of the seat was perfect- not too wide, not at all spongy. The "nose" was wider than my Vitesse, which the owner had initially worried about too, but she said it wasn't an issue. It felt like my sit bones, but more like the more forward part of the ishiums, not the tuberosities (the part which you can feel sticking out) were perfectly aligned on padded rails. Quite a different feeling. Not uncomfortable. Just very different. The front stuff- suspended in air not touching anything.

Looks like a storm is coming! I hope so!!

Are you talking storm in the immediate sense or of the tropical variety? Mr. Fish told me there's one predicted to head your way, but I haven't had a chance to look at the models to see where exactly.

The saddle reminds me of a ship from Star Wars or Babylon 5 maybe. It does look really wide in the front. I'd be curious to see how if felt after a long ride.

Hey, guys, I'm home! I am sooooooooooooooooo glad to be home. It was a good weekend, but (as always) very intense. It was the annual celebration of the start of AA 71 years ago in Akron, Ohio. I spend the weekend talking with friends from around the country, from London, from Tokyo, running around to meetings and stuff, eating baaaaad food, and it all gets a bit intense. I did get to go out for a run one beautiful clear morning.

Fishdr, sorry to hear about your crash. I haven't read anywhere else yet--came here, "home", first! :o Hope you're healing well, and I agree with k.n. about the arnica.

Nanci, the DVDs were here waiting for me, and, for the last time, you never sucked! Why don't you go to www.ironman.com and see which DVD you'd like to see--I'll buy it, and we can begin the lending library! I'll send it to you when I send yours back.

Welcome home Lise! Glad to hear you had a productive weekend - even if there was bad food and it was intense.

I have been thinking today about how much I want to get out and ride (once the bike is fixed) AND run and when I'll be able to do that. What is happening to me??? I really must have hit my head ;)

I was talking storm in general. But all that came was strong enough wind to blow the barbeque around the patio! Dill and I stayed out and just got sprinkled.

But, little did I know, Alberto is aimed right for us, but still only a tropical storm. We really need the rain. I think we're getting some today, and more tomorrow when Alberto goes through!

Alberto is up to 50K today and looking somewhat impressive. Looks like you'll get that rain you wanted. Might weight down the BBQ, though.

I'm about ready to leave for Jackson to get the bike fixed. I'm going to get my new pedals (clipless) and shoes while I'm there. I was waiting until my free maintenance visit in July, but that seems to have been moved up.

I keep feeling more/different aches and pains as time goes on. Today it's my right hip and my right wrist. Ugh!

Another wierd thing - I keep seeing scrapes and black pavement scuffs on the stuff I was wearing Sat. My Livestrong bracelet is all scuffed up, my roadID anklet is scuffed, my shoes, etc. Sort of eery as I realize how much of me hit the pavement.

Wish me luck today! I'm getting a new helmet, too. I can't decide on the color. hmmmmm.
