Nanci - i'd love to see a pic of the perfect chamois all together. I read the TE thing about the Sugois. Now, considering I haven't bought new shorts in years (maybe 5 years, and I don't count my Ibex knickers or my Terry Skort) I just might be able to justify splurging on the Sugois.
Then, of course, I'll need to spring for a touring bike so I can really ride in the shorts.
I'm having a bad hair day. Everything is pissing me off, I can't get my derailleur perfectly dialed in, bolts and screws are coming loose all over the place and my seat will NOT stay level as I tighten the bolt. And my Zoics just won't work on the bike. Nothing like exposing yer backside to the neighborhood while getting a wedgie to just make yer day.
And I'm just sure I'm gonna drown during the swim at the Danskin, even with my wetsuit, cuz I haven't been swimming yet and I only have 2 months to get up to snuff.
And I ate all the chocolate yesterday. No emergency chocolate left in the house.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Ain't TOUCHING the bike until I'm in a better mood, or I might break something.

Hey, KN--
1. 2 months is plenty of time to get comfortable enough to do a sprint swim if you start swimming now.
2. Hair is from another planet and not really subject to our laws of physics.
3. Screws and parts and stuff? See "hair" above.
4. If I were you, I'd go restock the emergency chocolate. Do something about what you really can control. :p
Nanci--
Like everybody else, I thank you for being the test person for all those shorts. I'm probably set for the summer, mainly because I'm getting a grip on the finances. I have a pair of Sugoi, a pair of Canari, a pair of Zoot tri shorts, a pair of mtb shorts, and a Terry skort. That covers my needs. Not my wants, but certainly my needs. I'm going to lay out the summer athletic clothes I have so I can appreciate them and not start getting more that I think I need. I did buy one more pair of running shorts for $12.99 at Target today. That's all for awhile!
I love the Shimano sandals. Found a screw on the dining room floor today, and knew it must be something bike related, as it required an Allen wrench. Put on my sandals and realized the screw was from the cleat plate that was now clacking on the floor. The other screw was almost completely unscrewed, too. I feel so lucky that it fell out at home and not on the road.

HOT in Chicago today, and windy, but somehow it's not bothering me. I rode to a meeting, to Target, to coffee with sober guy. He seems nice, good looking, funny, rides a bike...more will be revealed. I have a date with photo guy tonight. I am such a social butterfly! I just keep getting out there because I would like to have that kind of intimacy and connection, and, let's face it, nookie. (I don't think that word will be censored...;) ) I'll keep y'all posted!

Knotted Yet,
You're not going to drown in a wetsuit!!

I put the chamois comparison picture in Apparel, Sugoi RS Flex Review.

Lise - great news on sober guy! Good luck tonight with photo guy. Can't wait to hear how it goes!
Nanci - thanks for posting pics. You're so thorough on researching these things that I feel good going with your suggestions.
KnottedYet - renew the supply of emergency chocolate.

I think this thread is the 2nd most viewed thread after the "getting to know you" one - 7801 views just now...

what KnottedYet sed about the Zoics. Just not sure about them, Love the concept of the pockets but the thighs are so tight I don't know if I can get a key in. I'm a cyclist, I have thighs, who knew!? It's like the Shebeast tights I could not get past my calves...who knew I'd have calves?
And the plumbers crack thing....hmmmm. It's a look, not sure it's a look that will get looks. Maybe I should get a tatoo there or something.
This could be what I wear to work on days I spin...just stay in the back of the class.

I've decided that if I get the job in Baton Rouge I think my reward to myself will be the Sugoi shorts :D
I've finally wrapped the SS gifts and put them in a box. I will mail them out Monday. I feel like I'm way behind on this. But - I haven't seen too many "I received my SS gift" posts, so I'm guessing we're all pretty much on the same timeline.
Have a great night! Think of me - first ride with clipless pedals in the AM. Aargh!

I bought chocolate.
And red wine. (Big Fat Llama cabernet)
Feeling much better now.
I think I'll go to grad school to be a librarian. Gir is my co-pilot: "The knowlege. It fills me. It is neat."

I'm thinking about applying at Edith Cowan uni here to do a masters in information sciences-library studies/archives...

Science or medical librarian in my dreams. Worked in libraries for years. One of my all-time favorite jobs was working in a science library. Liked working in book repair and cataloging and public libraries, too, but the science library was the best.
Ties together all my silly degrees, keeps me working even after my body can't handle lifting/supporting/chasing/educating patients anymore, and allows me to be the dilettante I truly am.

KN--what is it you do now?
My mom is a librarian, went to library school when I was 7 & 8 yr old. I grew up in libraries. Being a science librarian sounds very, very cool.
Date with photo guy went really well. We talked for 3.5 hr over dinner, then dessert. He hugged me good night, but it was the "I'm being respectful and not yet kissing you though I want to" kind of hug (felt that way to me anyways), asked if he can see me again. I really wanted to kiss him standing there on the street by my car hugging him...controlled myself ... thought, "wait, just wait". I get so connected once I've physically connected with someone. Who knows, but it was fun. It's also so nerve-racking. Not to mention the guy has been a fashion photographer for much of his career, many years of which were in Italy ... oh, no pressure to be beautiful, eh?
OK, going to bed! Had to give you gals an update, though!
bikerz's comment about the frequency with which this thread is viewed made me think that a bunch of TE'ers may be reading but not joining in--jump in, ladies, the water's fine! Thanks, again, Nanci, for starting off this rambling chat fest! home it is.

garden
I just finished killing/cleaning up the garden....It hadn't been raked in ages & it's beyond hope...
I'd rather bike than rake up leaves however once in a while i get a bit too much energy & decide to go a bit nutty with the rake...
Lise, I'm happy to hear your date went well.
Knottedyet-i really liked your signature a while back. Were you told to alter it or did you just decide to change it???
I just checked out the RAAM site...3000miles hey(5000km-perth to melbourne or a bit further...).... I'd be support crew...

Lise, glad to hear the date went so well! Do you know what Loctite is? It's this liquid that you put on screws (get the removeable strength) so they stay put until you unscrew them. I haven't put it on my cleats, but others do. I used it on my underwater DPV though. (dive propulsion vehicle)
If you lose a screw on a ride, the screws that hold the bottle cage will work until you get a replacement.
fishdr- you think like I do! If I do such-and-such, then I get X piece of bike stuff that I really want! Good luck with the clipless!
You know what I've noticed about shiny fabric? It makes fat rolls stand out. Matte fabric, like the Shebeast tanks, (and especially in prints!) lets you get away with anything.
I'm at work today- OT- will cover the speeding ticket, though it was planned for a new saddle and/or hotel for the next 200k July 1st...Oh well, I'm working next Sunday, too.
I have my SS gift all wrapped and ready to go, now all I need is a box! I'm sure she will forgive me when she gets it, though. I am relieved that we haven't been reading posts about who got what. I ought to be working on July now, before they even match us!!

good to know about the Loctite, Nanci. I'll check it out. Also good to know about the water bottle cage screws. Thanks.
So true about shiney fabric!
