Saddle comparison - Aspide Glamour with ?

I recently switched from the Selle Italia Terrazzo Lady Gel to the San Marco Aspide Glamour. It was time for a more lightweight "racing" saddle. I've put about 200 miles on it, and so far seems OK, except for soreness on the seat bones after about 20 miles - there's not much cushion there.....At least there is no numbness or soreness in the tender areas! I have not tried the Terry Butterfly Ti -- it is a little heavier, but is that more comparable to the Terrazzo than to the Glamour? I just found out about the Buttlerfly, and it seems like a comfortable saddle - but do you think it is more for Centurys/touring than for racing/training? I put the Terrazzo on my mountain bike - love it there!
Just wanted to hear some feedback to learn more about saddles / comfort / racing / etc.

i had that SM Aspide Glamour and sent it back. my sit bones never got better. the terry damselfly is the same dimentions that the Aspide Glamour is and has a bit more padding for the sit bones. i just got my damselfly last week and so far i love it.

The Blackwell Flow Cut Down Saddle. I have searched high and low-been
through 5 different saddles. This one seems to do the trick. Check the sitbone width, it's 5 inch, a little narrow but fits me well and no problem with the sitbones being sore after the bike rides. The BEST part is no
chafing! Yeah, especially after doing RAGBRAI this year and the chafing started the 2nd day-thought I was in hell (chafing, heat, lots of hill, sleep deprevation not a good combination!)

I've done a couple of 25 mile rides and one 60 mile ride with a heat index of
101 and everything seems to be working well.

I realize this is very individual but I've finally found an answer to my
prayers.

hey chickwhorips did your saddle have a cut out?? I thought I remember seeing a picture of yours and it had a cut out.

Hmm Im a little confused because I just ordered the Aspide Glamour and it has no cut out. Do you think yours was the Aspide Aero or did they do a Glamour with a cutout that I just havent seen?

Yep know about the Terry Butterfly I had one of these and it didnt work for me. I just sent it to a friend in PA, Im hoping it will work better for her.

I tried the Blackwell Flow. It was nice and narrow in the nose, cushy without being poofy or too big, the cut out was not irritating- but the seat was just a teeny bit too narrow for me. I rode it a month, though, up to about 45 miles, but then switched it out for the Vitesse when I had a 200k. I wish BF would try it- it's really a mens saddle, though Blackwell Research says it's their saddle that women like best.

Right now I'm trying the 2005 Zero X. It's very firm. I'm not sure yet...

TrekHawk, Kim and I were at my LBS this morning. We happened upon the Aspide Glamour. I swear that's what it was and I think it had a cutout.

I have the Aspide Glamour (it arrived about a week ago) and it has no cutout (see link below). I think the confusion is caused by the fact that the Aspide Aero is pretty similar and it does have a cutout. Im afraid the Glamour doesnt work for me too wide and caused rubbing on the back of my thigh after only a short ride. I think I will stick with my Atola. I thought it was a little narrow but maybe that is what works best for me.

If I hadn't just bought 2 Butterfly saddles, I think I would have tried this one. It's as wide as the Butterfly, but longer, and not as padded.

You know I think I did read somewhere that the Glamour also came in an arrowhead but I could never find it listed on the San Marco Site just the Aspide Aero, the Glamour Aspide and the Glamour Aspide Gelaround. I like the look of the Arrowhead but (if its the same as the other Glamour) its unfortunately too wide for me. I guess I will sell my Glamour its a shame as its a nice looking saddle and comfy except for the rubbing at the back. LOL if I keep going this way I will soon have worked my way thru the entire SSM range.:eek:

So it's not actually the sit bone area that is too wide but the angle at the back of your thigh? We were thinking that that angle looked better than most saddles we had seen lately. I really like a saddle with a sharp, almost 90 degree, angle there so it doesn't rub the back of my thighs.

I don't know what the silhouette of the Arrowhead is like compared to the others.

LOL - you know I think your right. The sitbones felt good and comfy but the rubbing aaaggghhhhhh. I tried feeling around the saddle with my hand while I was riding (must have looked funny to cars going by) and my sit bones seemed nicely supported and the soft tissue area was good. So angle is another thing you have to take into consideration - thanks for the tip SK.:)

Looking down at the sit bones part of the saddle from the top, the closer to this shape I can get the better. Does that make sense?

You really don't want to know. It can't be found any longer. I'm stockpiling it. I send slinkedog off on special acquisition missions. Whatever it takes.

I adore the women's Avocet Air 02 Air 40 ti rail. Wide, flat and firm under the sit bones. Very long and narrow nose. That almost right angle at the back of the thighs. A little divot where it counts.
