How do I make my screen brigher in Windows XP?
Sitting outside attempting to rid my arms of the farmer's tan (given up on the legs) and I can't see my screen. Normally, I am not so computer-challenged.
Thank you.

Brigher? Hmmmm.... I can't help you with your computer, but I do have a tan catch-up suggestion! You should sit outside in the sun wearing nothing but AV arm warmers.:eek:Quote:

make your screen brighter?? Put a hood over it? ;)
THe controls should be on the monitor itself, usually.
Hi, Slinke!
AG, will a black bikini and red DeFeet armwarmers be OK? I've never done this before (durn rain). I do have on a black and white visor so I am fully color-coordinated.
Maybe try ALT+F5?
If that doesn't work, push a whole bunch of buttons.
Or go to control panel and see what you can find there. I know my laptop goes darker when I am on battery or when the end of the world nears, but I can change the settings to prevent that.
Just don't get this error message: http://www.engrish.com/detail.php?im...ate=2002-10-04
Oh, and you only want help from the "Hep computer geeks"? Is that like Hep Cats?
I'm an NOT trying ALT+F5 until someone else verifies what it does. Not that you wouldn't play a practical joke.
"Hep" as in "Shake and Bake. And, I hepped!" Eh, you're probably too young.
I'm assuming this is a laptop, right? Look along your top keys (probably the function keys, but maybe others) for one with a drawing of either a sun or a lightbulb. It probably requires holding either the Shift or Fn key down to activate it. Once you find that and press the magic key combo, you should have a display brightness adjuster on your screen.
What kind of laptop is this? Make/model?
See - read what Dianyla said! I am not just making this up. On my Vaio there's a little sun on F5 - if you push ALT. It's worth a try.
It might blow up, but it is unlikely.
Voila! The little suns were on the up/down arrow keys. I only looked at the top keys but your post made me look at other keys on the off chance. Thanks!
Dianyla can now proudly wear the Hep Geek, as in Hep Cat, title. You may have to hike up your bellbottoms though, Dianyla. It gets awfully deep around MP.;)
VERY reassuring!!:pQuote:

I'm sure I'll give you another chance to help the dummy. Meanwhile, back to your regularly scheduled programming (pun intended).

Good for you! I'm apparently too busy slacking from being a hep computer geek here in my cubicle, so I might as well help my imaginary internet friends with their problems! :pQuote:

Sk - excellent engrish! That message box is going somewhere in some application of mine - I love it!
In fact, it should just pop up randomly!
Use this one!

I often wonder about that - the whole getting worked dumped on you being some sort of backhanded compliment about being the only one competent enough to do the task. "But you do it so well!" :mad:Quote:
