Holy Cow, what a schedule!
I'm doing the Windmill on 7/22. I have done (many years ago) the Strawberry Fields ride - beautiful ride, you should definately do it if you can - great apple pie at the lunch stop! Susie from TE is doing the Strawberry Fields 100 miler.
My list is much smaller but DH is whining so... I'd love to do the Holstein 100 again - I did it once and the hills 'beat' me (I distinctly remember one really long one coming back near the end where I just wanted to die!) I'd really like to go back and prove I can do it!
You're an ANIMAL V!
Tracy :)
If you're crazy, then I am too!
Veronica, we overlap on some of our rides, but not a ton. These are all definites for me as I have registered and/or told DH I am doing them (so he's on kid patrol):
3/25 Solvang double century
4/29 DMD (as I have said over and over "I am starting this ride...")
5/6 Wine country double metric (with DH)
5/20 Davis double century (with DH)
6/3 Eastern Sierra double century
6/17 - 18 Death ride altitude camp (with DH)
7/8 Death Ride (with DH)
8/5 Mt. Tam Double (same day as Marin century). After swearing I wouldn't do this ride again! :p I want vengeance on it!! I finished (before dark, too), but I want to do it again and feel better doing it this year!
9/16 Knoxville double century
10/7 - 9 Furnace creek 508 (2 woman team.)
11/20 El Tour de Tucson (probably. I usually race this every year and last year I coached it instead and crashed out and got my first ever in my life DNF. So I have a little chip on my shoulder about this race!! ) 'Course I may be tired by then and need a break. We'll see how the 508 goes, I guess.
I will miss Holstein becuase we're camping in Yosemite. I loved Holstein last year. It is a great ride, and I encourage you all to do it! They've got a lot of mileage options.
I can't do those other stage race doubles because of commitments I have made for coaching Death Ride. Plus I am not yet crazy enough to want to do the TT! :p My friend Karen did the stage race last year (she's probably doing it again this year), and she had a blast! I think that's a great challenge. Maybe next year. I think I have enough on my plate right now!! :D
Siskiyou (or however the heck you spell it)
Hmm. Flat metric.... I am tempted. I think it's the week before Knoxville, so it would be a good time. Problem is, we leave immediately after Knoxville for Hawaii for a week, so things will be hectic. (DH is coaching the Honolulu century for TNT - can you say BOONDOGGLE??? I am going along for fun and not bringing my bike as it is right between K'ville and the 508).
So anyway, I will see how the summer goes in terms of work, etc., and Em and I may well join you guys in the boonies at Siskiyou. I think it would have the elements of Cindy that she liked because of all you guys beging there!
And right now flat metric is our speed, because she is quite literally dead weight on the bike. It's great strnegth training, though! :D
