I've been looking (okay, lusting) at the SIDI Dominator 5 Women's Lorica in Rose. They are beautiful, but $229.95 is expensive in my book. Does anybody have these? TE has them, and they are $.04 less money on TE than the only other place I could even locate them. Somebody help me justify them! (I can usually do that on my own!)
Denise and I have twin feet, same size, color, just opposite coasts. Who needs justification for those beautiful shoes?

SadieKate is right - I love my red Sidi Doms.
On the price front, maybe it will help to think about how often you replace your cycling shoes. I had many thousands of miles and a number of years of wear on my last pair.

I just knew somebody would help me with the justification! Many thousands of miles on my old ones--yep--works for me! I also always buy myself a birthday present. (Who else loves me more???) My b'day was on the 2nd and I haven't yet treated myself! So look out:D

Another argument for these is what the bike shop guy told my husband and I. "Go with good cycling shoes they last longer and you have less chance of suffering from some foot problem." Not sure if this is true but hey sounds like a good argument when buying expensive cycling shoes.
I have a couple pairs of them (oh my-i fessed up to it) and consider them well worth the investment. Last year, I rode just over 4250 miles and my goal for this year is 5000 miles. When you are on the bike a lot, being comfortable is worth spending extra when investing in clothing & shoes. I figure the shoes will last me several years, too, so it probably would equal out to buying less expensive shoes more often. Plus they are so pretty.
They got lots of reflective areas, too, so I consider them a "safety" item. hehe. ;)
Just one more thing--are all y'all mountain bikers? I'm a roadie altho I don't really like road shoes. I have a pair that I don't wear because I'm one of those who's slipped on the soles on the bike and on the floor and on the street. Sooooo--these are still really good on road rides, too, aren't they? (Please say yes!)
They are the same shoe as the Genius but the sole is lugged and many people use btb shoes for the same reason as you.
I'm only a roadie - but I decided many years ago that I prefer recessed cleats. So I always wear mountain bike shoes... And in my experience the Sidi Doms are great for road biking.

Thanks, y'all! I'm sold!! Wonder if I can keep them a sorta secret from my husband. He doesn't cycle and, he just wouldn't understand. I'll think of something!
Three places you should never scrimp - shorts, shoes, gloves. The contact points need the best thing for that body part's health and happiness. Tell him, it will lessen the whimper factor.

I wear a 5 1/2 to a 6 - usually a 6 - and my Sidi's are a size 38. They run very small. Just for comparison purposes, I wear Merrell shoes off the bike, and those shoes are a size 36.Quote:

Thanks, Denise, I think you're right. I had looked at the sizing chart, and it's still sorta vague. I'm thinking of ordering the 39.5 and the 40 and then send one pair back. I'll call TE when I order instead of online. They are so very helpful.......
Hey Aint Doody I wear a 7 1/2 shoe and my Sidi Doms are a 41 so are my Genius so you might need to go bigger than the 40.Quote:

Be sure to size for whatever socks you will be wearing. I have worn size 6 in just about everything since adulthood. The 38 fits like a glove with a pair of thin Defeet cycling socks without much room for swelling which my feet do a lot in hot weather. When I road bike this is OK, but when I mtbike I just have to have a tad more space because my feet are moving around a lot more. I use a 38.5 for mtbiking in hot weather or if I want to wear multiple socks. Hey, another reason for multiple pairs of shoes (not to mention I hate putting on wet shoes when I'm riding consecutive days).
I'm about a women's size 9 and I think my correct Sidi size is 40.5.
I wear 8.5 (sometimes 9) in dress shoes and sandals, 9 (thin socks) or 9.5 (thick Thorlo socks) in ASICS running shoes.
Even though I was sized at 41.5 with the "official" Sidi foot-measuring device, my Sidi Bullets are size 41 and they're a little too big for me. When I do long rides in hot weather I wear them with thick socks (Defeet Cush 3D's). While riding at night when it's cooler here, I sometimes have to add an extra insole to make them fit right.
So when I buy my next Sidis, which will most likely be road shoes, I'll probably go for size 40.5.

Wow see this is weird my foot is definitely no bigger than a US 7.5 and I wear 41 Sidi. Are you talking about US sizes? I find it hard to imagine someone with a foot bigger than mine fitting into a smaller cycle shoe than I have. Hmm very bizarre.Quote:

OK--I went to the bike shop in the next town that carries SIDIs and found that a 40 was the right size. Oh, my! They felt like putting a glove on my feet--at that price they should! I do not know if you have found any yet. I picked up a pair of dominator mountain shoes from Bicycle Village in Littleton Colorado (really Denver address) for around $100:D. They had a number of sizes for both road and mountain. I was in there last week and they still have a table full of these shoes, all 2004 and 2005 models.
