What is anyone's opinion on white cycling shorts? Like them or not?
Nooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!
I take it from your forum name, you do?
No, my last name is Moore, the see is for C!
I was just wondering because I found a good sale on some Castelli shorts and the sale is only in white.
Personally, I don't wear white anything. I can spill/stain with the best of them. I also have convinced myself that black looks smaller:) I know some models have major see through issues. You might want to search and see if you can find a specific review of the one you want.
that's probably why they are on sale... no one buys them
Personally, no. But then, I don't wear white anything because I could stain for England. Guys in white shorts... uh-uh, big no-no.
But in the pictures the models do look cute in white. So if you like white and ride in dry conditions, why not give it a try. Get a good friend to check the "visibility", though...
(Just rode behind a guy briefly yesterday, who was wearing very worn black shorts with a large circular thin spot like a bullseye right over his butt crack. My eyes still hurt. I very nearly tapped him on the shoulder and said something, but I just couldn't think of any conceivable way of saying that politely to a stranger.)
No way for me. I don't wear anything in white. It turns me into a stain magnet...and I would probably be mistaken for a large household appliance.
Personally, I wouldn't wear them. I have red Castelli shorts that I'm hesitant to wear in public. :o
But I do know women who do with confidence. I think "confidence" is the operative word here.
I'd question how long they'd last - at what point do they stop looking hot and become shorts you'd only wear under tights or on the trainer in the basement?
my team kit has LARGE white stripes down the side.---that's probably as much white as i'll handle...but give it a shot! why not? Here's a shot of mine--please dont mind my face--LOL we like to have a good time after our Wednesday Night Training rides....and of course i'm on a riding high!! :):D:D:p
They look really nice. If I loose 20 pounds, maybe.
White? Not even red ;) :p :D

Not brave enuf for white here. Though thanks for the question so I could chuckle thru folks answers :D
What would you wipe your hands on after you patched a tire? Black shorts are PERFECT for that!
Be very, very, careful not to get caught out in the rain.
I would love to wear white but find that white clothes:
a) are see through
b) are easy to get dirty
c) make me look fat
Maybe that's why my entire wardrobe is black!
Trust me, most shorts are black for a reason!!!
Also, you ladies aren't making me feel any better about the white capris I'm planning on wearing to a fancy shower this weekend!!! I had already decided I wouldn't eat anything and drink only water! I'll probably trip on the sidewalk and go down! I'm a total slob!
Not to mention most sunblocks turn white technical fabrics yellow.
I am a dirt magnet. No white shorts! I'm okay with a little white on the side of the leg as an accent, but not with all-over white.
Probably only good for wearing if you have a white saddle...
And you definitely need to be sure the lawn is well manicured if you are going to wear white shorts............
I haven't worn white pants or shorts in years meaning even off bike.
If someone can wear white shorts without all those problems, great.
A sale price isn't a good deal if you'll never wear them.
Bike Chick, that's hilarious!!
There was another thread about shorts and transparency, I can't remember exactly but there was a good tip about checking transparency on worn shorts. Wear undies with some kind of print, put on your shorts and check the mirror. Bend like you are on the bike and if you can see the print, chances are without the undies, you'll see other things.
I won't wear white because then I wouldn't be able to spit on my hands and wipe off the grease and dirt without it showing.
On a recent charity ride, their was a couple, African American and very very "zaftig". They were both kitted out in white shorts. Fortunately I was only behind them for a very short while, but even then it was way too much visual information.
just sayin
I may not've been the first to say it, but that's definitely how I check bike shorts! They had a bunch of Cannondale shorts at TJ Maxx once and my striped underwear was visible through ALL of them.
More on-topic, I was running behind a guy mountain biking in shorts that had white kind of around the top of the back...like a wide stripe-ish. Definitely saw some crack. I couldn't quite go fast enough to pass him, either...
