I am looking for the warmest lady tights you can buy without a chamois. Was thinking about the Assos Uma S5 rated at 0-8 degrees celsius (32 - 46 F) but it seems to only come with a chamois. Other non-padded Assos are not rated down to 0-celsius. Anyone know of other brands I should consider?
I really have no idea, but if you don't want a chamois, don't limit yourself to tights designed for cycling. As long as the crotch seams aren't super bulky, whatever chamois you have in your shorts/liner should protect you fine. Have you looked at ski gear?

What about Pearl Izumi Amfib? I wore them in 32 degree weather and spitting ice/rain and was too hot.

I'll 2nd the PI Amfib tight. I had a pair for a short while, but ended up returning them because they were too slippery on my saddle...but they were definitely warm.
I have PI amfib, but my favorites are Sugoi Firewall (mine are at least 6 years old). I see Craft "No excuses cold weather run" tights that looks interesting with the articulated knee.
I have a pair of Nike ThermalPro from years ago but I'm not sure if they still make them. I wish I'd been wearing them today. They're fleecy on the inside and super comfortable.
I have Lucy Propel Run Tights, which are black with reflective piping and rear zippers at the ankles. They're moisture wicking and water resistant, but not waterproof.
You can get the Terry Coldweather tights without a chamois and they are really warm in my opinion. oops, they seem to only be padded these days. I got a pair of unpadded ones on Ebay during the summer. Sorry no help here.

+1 to Oak - don't limit yourself to cycling gear. I don't like a chamois in my tights either. I generally use running tights, or for really cold weather I have a pair of paddling pants - I think they are made for wearing under a wetsuit, but they are quite warm and comfy on their own.
I second the Sugoi Firewall. I've had mine for years.
Another vote for Amfibs. It has to be below freezing before I can wear mine and not roast.
There's a bunch of windproof insulated tights out there, including those already mentioned by Sugoi and Craft. If you want super-warm, at least some windproofing is the key IMO.
Anything by Craft is super warm.
I'd also look at Ibex. I have a pair I wear X country skiing, but I have worn them cycling on very cold days. They are wool in the front and windproof in the back.
I almost bought a pair of Lucy fleece lined pants with zippers. They didn't have the reflective piping on the side but they seemed really comfortable and warm. They seemed reasonably priced to me but they did not have my size.
I have Sugoi Midzero Zap tights. They're technically running tights, so they don't have a chamois, but do have crotch seams. It's not a problem with the shorts I wear under them. They were fine at 38 and windy, so they're probably fine down to freezing. They're probably too warm for about 45+ (I'd just wear leg warmers!), though.Quote:

For our winters here in Portland, I use the Sugoi MidZero Zap tight and for the coldest days, I wear a Craft longjohn style baselayer under them http://shop.craftsports.us/layer/bas...underpant.html (not carried by Team Estrogen). And wool socks.

I also love the amfibs. Great for wind, rain and cold.
Another vote for PI's AmFib. I wear them to run, bike and XC ski. They are breathable and wick water too. The key is to find something windproof. I just bought some Gore windstopper leg warmers and just blocking that winds makes a huge difference. No amount of fleece can keep you warm when it's windy.
For those of you who ride in cold weather - do you recommend a) tights with a chamois, b) tights without worn over shorts, or c) leg warmers? Sometimes it is actually *cold* around here (central valley in Northern CA) but often, it starts out cold and warms up enough through the day that I might not want to be stuck wearing tights.
Mojo: I live in Upstate NY, which is why I own all three of your options! Really the key to keeping warm, however, is to block the wind. For me windstopper leg warmers are my go-to for chilly days. I upgrade to tights with a chamois when my butt starts to get cold in regular shorts and then I'll go full coverage (PI Am Fib tights over a pair of bike shorts) when it's super cold (usually below 40 or a nasty wind chill).

I finally bit the bullet and invested in Gore Windstopper leg warmers. They're a bit pricey, but I managed to find a new pair for half the price on eBay. Fleece leg warmers just don't cut it for me in the cold. The wind just blows right through :(
I have Craft Active Thermal tights which are super warm and fleecy on upper thigh and have a thinner fabric from just below the knee and on back of knee for ease of movement. They are nice and long so you don't get nippy ankles!
I live in the South but all that really means is that you ride outside all year, not that it isn't cold! Ridden in below 32' F and snowing and my legs were the only thing that wasn't cold. When I take off my gear there is a freezing line of red skin above where my tights end because that skin is so cold!
I also have a pair of sugoi midzero knickers. They are hot hot hot! I am getting some of the long midzero tights for this winter because the chamois on craft tights is going :( The midzero is a great, warm and fleecy tight - feels great and I know that they will last as the rest of my stuff from Sugoi has outlasted the craft gear. Main reason for switching brands and going with sugoi.
