We rode up Mt Diablo, a nice mosey to the summit. Thom got a couple of good pictures today.

very nice. why did you get new wheels? sorry - somewhat newbie here
To go faster, 'cause my husband loves me and I'm his favorite thing to spend money on. :D Trophy wives are expensive.
Seriously, they are more aerodynamic race wheels. Scary fast descending. :p

those wheels look great! So it was a noticeable difference, eh?
I keep debating race wheels, but don't know if I can justify the expense (I'm not a terribly fast rider).
great shots, BTW!
Sweet! Nice wheels; nice husband!
Nice! :D
Whadda husband, and great wheels!
Lmao on the DH comment... LOVE IT :D ...those wheels are sweeeeeet... so is the DH too.
Dura Ace carbons? Gonna google specs to match pics. Hope you have many happy times riding em!:)
Durace 7900 C50s.
Any little downhill and the bike picks up a ton of momentum. I am a pretty quick descender, but I found myself on the brakes a lot more today. You release the brake and the bike moves like a sprinter out of the gate. I think I could have easily hit speeds of 40 - 50 miles an hour if I had been game. Not on a mountain road with two way traffic. :D Now if the road were closed and I could use both lanes...

oooooh... aaaaahhhhhh :p:p
nice stuff. be interesting to read a ride report after a few more miles on them. i take it they are custom built .. or are they factory built?
Factory built.

Nice! One word though - crosswind! I have Zipps, and while you wouldn't think it would be an issue, the wind will certainly affect the handling on the deeper dish rims.
I think our DH's are pretty similar, BTW :D

Yeah, one of my first rides on them we had some serious winds. I stood to climb on a little hill and I swear the rear was fishtailing slightly. I've got about 100 miles or so on them now, maybe a little more and I'm getting more comfy with how they handle. Even got down into IAB position yesterday.
Yesterday was my first big descent with them. Usually I'm just a little slower than Thom, even though he makes me go first. And he noticed that they seem faster, even with me braking for corners a bit earlier than usual. First descent caution. :p
I'm pretty happy with them.

Great looking wheels!!! lots of luck with them. I believe it has been said wheels are one of the most important components of the bike.
