368 in April- 11,500 feet of elevation gain
Nice ladies!
Hulagirl -- have you had the chance to bike in Maui? Up Haleakala?
223.5 for the month of April and 501 for 2011 (all outside, no longer have a trainer)...
I stopped posting my totals 2+ years ago. Bike Journal made me feel increasingly bad, so I axed it. Sure, I mention total miles of this ride or that, or even elevation here on TE, but when I stopped posting miles and worrying about it, it was liberating. Two years ago, I rode about 500 miles just doing errands on my hybrid (out of about 2600 total). Last year, I did my most riding, ever. I wasn't trying to, either. I was proud the day I achieved it, and I know I posted here about it, but that was it. I don't routinely do centuries or even metrics every week or month. Yet, I manage a respectable amount. I'm all into making sure I *continue* riding until I am about to breathe my last breath, and worrying about my totals doesn't help with that goal.
I just look at my bike computer to confirm what I have done.
Not yet. Have you? It would be tough at higher altitude for me! I have, however, ridden the road to Hana in one day and that was a painful experience due to a bike that was too small and a saddle from hell.
Once I get my Bike Friday, hubby and I plan to ride Kauai (up to Kokee) and the Big Island up to Volcano.
Crankin: Sorry posting your totals made you feel bad! For me, I only record my actual training or race miles. Not my 'run around town' miles. Which are plenty. I use it for training reference and equipment aging. I'm proud of 10 miles or 1000 miles, it doesn't matter to me. We are a small population of people that are actually out and DOING something. And I'll take any number, big or small. ;)
634 miles and 38,900 ft of elevation, really! That includes one century, Tierra Bella,a climb up Mt. Diablo last Tues. That's what taking a semester off from teaching leaves time for - riding 4 times a week .
602 miles (not much elevation where I live) for April...and 340 miles for March. Plus the 83 I did on Sunday, and the 43 today...make my total for the year so far - 1,068. I predict I will do my first century of the year sometime this month, and will likely try and do 1 each month until October.

Hula Girl, you didn't make me feel badly. Thinking about how many miles I have or haven't done makes me feel badly! For me, there are no "training" miles. Just miles. Whether it's a tough 50 mile ride or a 9 mile coffee shop ride like I did Saturday. I don't race; for me it's about getting out there and riding.
It's been a slow start this year, with the weather.
Looks like 625 miles and 43,000 feet of climbing (not bad for only 5 outdoor rides, which is all I am really tracking. I keep track of my indoor interval work for my own purposes, but I am not counting those "miles" here). Of course the one 250 miler and the 206 miler with 19,700 of climbing on Saturday boosted the numbers. :D
I fall into the league of "mini milers" it is what it is, I ride for my pleasure, fun, exercise, errands, the thrill of it and whatnot. I log my mileage mainly because I am a beginner and like to see my progress. Having said that I proudly post 64.99 miles for the month of April.
I am basically just commuting, not much extra and no weekend event rides so far. My commute runs between 12 miles roundtrip to about 14.5 miles depending on whether I am riding with my son or not.
01 - Jan 278.94
02 - Feb 244.49
03 - Mar 249.70
04 - Apr 290.16
05 - May 13.22
Total 1076.51
Sarah, I am in awe!
I feel so inadequate by comparison;)
238 miles for the month of April with 8,043 feet of climb. Not bad considering we had almost 17 inches of rain in April and rides were few and far between.
418.72 for April.
1073 for the year so far.
356 miles for april, and it's been a struggle to get every one of them!
476 miles or 762 km.
Due to moving the grand total for last month is 0. We bought the house at the end of March, spent last month getting everything ready and starting to take things over. This coming weekend is the major move. Bikes are already over there. Hopefully can start riding again after we get moved in. (Still seriously considering renting bikes in DC to tour the monuments that way).
454 -- probably the lowest April in years, but crappier weather than in years. I'm just not inclined to go out for a fifty mile ride in a steady rain -- but I am *not* complaining, since we only have More Rain THan Usual -- no major flooding, no tornadoes!
Going to shoot for 1000 in May, though.
I had a good April and got in 783.44 miles with 74,051 ft of climbing.
675.9 for April
2446 for the year so far
Elevation- I ride in Florida so not much
Very little, but I mostly mountain bike! I think I might have tipped 75 miles.
TrainingPeaks tells me I've ridden 1036 miles in the last 28 days.
There must be a way to pull that data out by date range or by month, but at the moment I can't find it...
Wow! All of you are shaming me, but it looks like everyone has been having fun :) In April I rode 238 miles, which is pretty good considering we've been going through a deluge for the last month... If you add in spinning class then it gets closer to 350 miles, but I no longer count the "miles" in that activity.
Um, zero.
My bike spent April at my parents' house. May should be a good month, once it stops raining and I'm back in a place with a bike path and rideable roads. Next weekend!
Yes...we did it last August. Incredible ride, views, pain etc.
We knew we needed to start ultra early because of the weather..clouds roll in around 930 10am and wanted to beat that....well, we didn't make it. Started at like 4am and by the time we got to the visitor center, 11 miles from the top, it had already started raining...and it was windy and it was getting cold -- yes, in Maui in August it was cold. It was a difficult ride, but so glad we did it.
Making plans to go back in 2012 or 2013 and do it again.
Next time you go, you may want to look into the cabins inside the crater. We've hiked/camped in the crater many times and it really is spectacular. The cabins sleep 8, have cooking supplies, wood burning stove (yes, it gets cold up there!), out house, water that needs to be boiled, bunk beds, big table. You bring in/out food, sleeping bags, trash. Cabins are about $65 a night and the hike isn't too bad. Going down Sliding Sands is a hard trail no matter how you cut it.
Might be an option for your next trip! If you knew someone that could haul your bags up to the top and take your bikes down and keep them while you camp/hike.
Max of 3 nights in the crater. Max of 2 nights at any one cabin.
Denise
Shall we bring this back for May?
370 miles. 12,637 feet.
~45. Between moving and a week of thunderstorms, not much time. I guess if I want to improve my miles in June, I'm going to have to get used to the weather.
1021. approximately 37,000 feet. 3 flat tires <sigh> Way way way too much of that done in absolutely cr@p weather. <another sigh>.
But, I'm riding a 200K this coming Sunday, and the weather is predicted to be a high of 80 degrees and sunny!!! Pinch me, it can't possibly be true. (it will probably rain, just for me...;) )
Just 280 in May. This will be a big month for miles!
Only 220 miles for May - June should be much better for miles :)
476 for me in May... but for June it may be a lot less. I've got some leg/knee complaints lately. I seem to get one thing fixed with PT, exercises and rest, build back up again and then get a new complaint somewhere else on my wonky left side....
97 for May; was off the bike for 17 days, thanks to a certain biting kitty cat of mine.
170 in for May for the mini-miler. We had 57 days of rain from March 1st to May 20th.
It was 196.66 miles for most of May. Not sure when I started the odometer, but it wasn't the entire month. I guess it's something from someone who "only" rides for leisure.
I have 641 miles for May. Pretty good month for early in the season. Thank goodness the weather has improved in the Northeast!
I am shocked to add up my mileage and find that it's only 97 miles for May. Between the rain and flooding (all our bike routes were under water) the beginning of the month and triathlon and time trial training, I didn't get but one ride in over 25 miles. This must change in June!
