Thank you, Miss Tour Guide Magnifique!
how does Mt Hamilton compare to the assault on Diablo? Higher? Steeper? that sorta thing
Trek-getting her nerve up-420
Until Captain Jobob post the details, here is the old thread for your reading pleasure.

But isn't Mt. Hamilton a "Hill That Goes On Freakin’ Forever"? :D
No, that was whatever the name of the road we were on for the Top Hat. At least that's how I felt :oQuote:

Since no one else expressed a preference for Saturday vs. Sunday, and it's a toss for me, we'll have the ride on Saturday Nov. 5.
It just wouldn't be the same without HRH and the Prince Consort, would it?
Mark your calendars, line up the babysitters, think up excuses for the in-laws ...
Details to follow.

Melbourne for four weeks ?! He better bring you back some reaallly good prezzinks!
I've marked my calendar - pretty sure I'm in town that weekend :)
Will this be a day to debut the AV jerseys?
I'd say those that got 'em, flaunts 'em! Worldwide!
I suppose I could spin around the parking lot in mine :DQuote:

"On the other hand, due to its length it can wear you down, so lower gears might give you a chance to rest. But there's nothing as steep as the nastier sections of Page Mill, or even Old La Honda for that matter. It's just plain long! "
Latin, please!Quote:

What does Thom do for Lonely Planet? Has he worked for them for long?
(Sorry to seem nosy just find it interesting what other people do). :)
He's the business systems analyst. Which I swear doesn't sound like a real job. :D I liked it much better when he was Head Computer Geek. His previous company was acquired last June - that's why we got to spend our summer gallivanting. He started with Lonely Planet Sept. 1.

Ooohh that sounds like a real job to me - a real big person job. :DQuote:

Hi gang - well, I've signed up for the Giro d'Vino metric centruy in Stockton for Sunday 11/6, so I won't be "joining" you for the Mt. Ham ride (I say "joining", because I doubt I would have you all in sight for very long once the climbing started!) Have a great time! Hopefully I can tag along on the next TE GHCP ride.

Aww, we'll miss you, but you got that next big goal scheduled and on the books. I'm rooting for you. Think of that Starbucks commercial where the crowds are chanting, "HANK!" only substitute "ANN!" *\o/*
BikerZ, I think I will be doing that ride as well.....what route are you doing?
(Wow - this cross-posting is confusing for my poor Friday brain!)
Ellen - I've signed up for the metric century route ... (nice new avatar, BTW! s that from BATO?)
And thanks for the cheers, SK! I need 'em!
Thanks Ann, figured I should at least have a bike related picture....my friend took it before I started the BATO.....I think I will sign up for the metric as well and hope I can make it that day.... :) :)
Jo, you have any plans formulated? I ask because Andrew, who is now of legal drinking age, keeps asking me if we're still on the calendar for this ride. He made sure to have the day off. We'll just point him in the right direction (up) and say "Later, dude!"
He also keeps asking when the next Diablo ride is.
huh, I have to formulate plans ?
Er, OK. Zee plan is:
We'll start at 10 am.
We'll meet at the corner of Alum Rock Ave (Rt. 130) and Mt. Hamilton Blvd. in Milpitas.
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=milpit...0.040770&hl=en
To get there: take I-680 to Milpitas (which is south of Fremont, north of San Jose), exit at Alum Rock Ave./Rt. 130, head east on Alum Rock for about 1-2 miles until you get to the T-intersection where Rt. 130 turns right, which is the start of Mt. Hamilton Road. Instead of turning right onto Mt. Hamilton Road, you'll turn left into a small parking area along the side of Alum Rock Ave.
If that parking area is full there's Linda Vista School about a mile away where people also park, I'll post directions to that as a backup.
Make sure to bring a couple of water bottles and some snacks. It's about 20 miles to the summit, and there are vending machines stocked with very pricey snacks at the summit observatory, but that's about it. There are rest rooms at the observatory, which I assume will be open, plus there are a couple of camping/picnic areas along the way up with portapotties and drinking water.
After-ride nourishment TBD
A very well-crafted plan! Nothing appears to be left out. You've even got the elephants pre-located for Kim. :p
Hi - well, It's my 10 year service anniversary at work so I'm going out for brunch with some friends (company pays) so I won't be "joining" you or I should say following you for the Mt. Ham ride. Hopefully next time.
