Just have to share with someone who 'gets' it...

I've been riding for a bit over 2 years - just using my old Jamis MTB on the road. I hurt my hip last fall and wasn't on the bike much for about 6 months. I had been missing it sooooo much. Then, last month the hubby and I were at the LBS looking for new shorts for me since I was trying to get back on the bike (I say trying because riding was making my hip hurt again).

Anyway, they had a beautiful Jamis Xenith Comp - a left over 2009 model marked down a good bit, and I got it!! I can't remember when I've been so excited - I've dreamed of having a road bike for so long, and I really didn't think I be able to get one for at least another year. I'm totally in love with her and have been really enjoying my rides - so much more comfortable than the MTB, and it seems to be actually helping my hip.

I tried to share my excitement with my friends, but they just don't get it... :rolleyes:

Congratulations, that bike is SHARP! I may be getting an amazing deal on a 2009 closeout Jamis myself soon, but I'll say no more at risk of jinxing it :X

How funny - yeah, a grape bike would be cool! The picture isn't too clear (iPhone camera :p). It's actually matt black with a few pink accents. I really love the looks. Not *too* girly. I added pink speedplay pedals, and my helmet is pink and white.

OK, the fashion segment is over. I now return you to your regular cycling programming.;)

The difference between riding the MTB and a carbon bike is incredible. When I stand up to pedal (from a stop) the acceleration is pretty impressive!

So where have you taken your bike to?

I'm fortunate to live very near "horse country". Lots of *huge* beautiful Thoroughbred stables. It's kind of rural, very little traffic and no traffic lights (the bane of my cycling existence). It's a beautiful place to ride. Depending on how much time I have I'll go anywhere from 20-35 miles. The heat is pretty bad here (today had a heat index of 101), so I'm not worrying too much about increasing speed. Just enjoying the time out in the fresh air!
