Help is needed again ladies. A friend is celebrating her "leather" aniversary. Hubby is also a cyclist, suggestions for a gift?
Well maybe I'm weird, but I can't even imagine giving a couple an anniversary gift no matter if they are my good friends. I always considered that the couple could certainly celebrate their anniversary with friends, but any gift giving I see as something personal between the couple, just loving or sentimental gifts to each other. Why not just write them a lovely card?Quote:

Other than my in laws, no one ever gave us gifts for our anniversary. Our 25th is coming in a few years. Isn't that silver - maybe I need to prep my friends for this. :D

Same here. Heck, I don't even get my parents anything--partly because their unhappy marriage made for my unhappy childhood, and I still can't bring myself to celebrate it (but that's another story). Still, at most I'll say "happy anniversary" or "congratulations" to someone if it comes up. Otherwise, I just don't feel like it's mine to celebrate. If I was really close to the couple, I certainly think a nice card would suffice.
We get cards from our in-laws but nothing more. I send one to my parents and my husband's brother but not his parents because they are re-married and frankly DH has no clue when or how long. I have given a gift for a fairly significant anniversary like a 50th when a party was thrown. :confused: I usually text message my only close friend that is married, don't want to disrupt their day too much.
I can do without the holier than thou attitude, I'm well aware of the economy.
I'm not giving them a gift, I'm asking for suggestions for her.

I took it as she was looking for ideas for her friend so her friend could buy her husband something....
My first thought was a leather saddle. But that's just me:p
Don't most gloves have some leather on them? New gloves are always nice :-)
Yeah, I actually thought you must be looking for suggestions for her since I don't buy anything for anyone. Saddles are pretty personal but then again so is marriage. Or nice new shoes?

Smurf, when I read your post, I understood it to mean that you were looking for ideas for a gift for your friend because it was her anniversary, and you were expected to give her a gift, which I, too, thought was totally weird.
Please don't get upset because some of us misunderstood your post. It wasn't clear, especially since it followed on the wedding gift question.
I thought you were sending them a gift, too, Snap. And I thought it was odd, too. The only anniversary I remember regularly other than my own is that of my son's. But anyway...

How about leather bar tape.
The first thing I thought of was a Brooks saddle, but that might be a hard item to buy for someone else. Or how about a nice bike bag like a pannier or a handlebar bag or some other type, from the companies that make the gorgeous ones that combine leather and wool? I don't have one of my own, or I'd be better about remembering the name of the makers! ;)
If he is the type that has to carry a laptop/briefcase I have seen some rather nice leather messenger bags as well.
