Well, some of you have already seen me with my fancy hairdryer in the Thread Drift. Now here is one with my wild hair while roller skating with barefeet. I was so fast.

Great idea, Mimi. This is going to take some time, though. First I have to find some photos, then scan, then upload...
My pic was from the early 70s.
yes, but it will definitely be worth it, Tulip
Yes, yes I'm on it. I happen to be spending the week at my father's house. Lots of pics to choose from!
I actually did post this photo some time ago here but now I can't seem to do a search older than 1 year ago.
It was to show how fat my head was (that's why I now wear a largish bike helmet!) and as a kid I was abit chubby until around 9 yrs. old I started to lose it.
Am on the right-hand side, at around 4-5 yrs. old. Which means photo shot in 1964 in downtown Waterloo, Ontario. We had no car but my family could walk around to stores and park. A sister, who is 1 yr. younger, is beside me. Can't you figure out which child was known by the parents as the grumpy kid? :p
I wish I could post a real valuable black and white photo of self, as a 4-5 month baby and my mother is wearing a high neck mandarin collared Chinese dress. When I get around to it...
and 2nd photo, how we were 2 yrs. ago. I'm on the left at 48.
aw, you were cute!
I will have a peek at home & see what horrible photos i can find from when i was a sprocket.
I'd like to post a pic of before i started riding & now but that's for a diff thread.
Mimi, your sister seems to naturally tan deeper than you. I do have another sister (not in these photos), who does not tan as deeply as the rest of us. Don't you just love the vintage cars in our photos..
At least you have a photo on bike in childhood. There were no photos taken of any of us on a bike..not at any point in time when we were children/teens. Probably because my father guarded his Pentax SLR camera and only allowed us occasionally to use his camera so not to waste cost of film. (We were poor, not because my father was unrelenting.) And when we were out playing and biking...he had to sleep in afternoon before he worked his evening restaurant shift.
Our trips out of town were just day trips by family car, to Toronto once a year.
Ah those "hillbilly" days. :D
me and my brother back in August of '74 (I was 3). it's Mt. Fuji in the background.

1972. My serious, skinny big brother taking care of his chubby spoilt little sister. I wonder where those sweaters came from. And look at those shoes! :D
Not having a scanner, this is the only one I can find as someone else stuck it on the web.
I'm the skinny looking thing in the middle of the back row, wearing a dark jumper and dark blue jeans... Lovely early 80's outfits!!!

I am the one doing the negotiating.

:D .
Geez, I loved that outfit!!! Hot pink valour...wow!
I will have to go use a scanner. None of me on my rocking bikes though.
That's me on the far left. We were at the Illinois State Fair in Springfield. I would say this is 1970? The two in the middle--the short one and the one in shorts--are my big brothers. The other two guys, I don't know. They didn't come with us. I was a skinny little kid--wish I could get THAT back. :)
For a younger me, on a bike, please peruse my avatar.
Me and my sister in about 1973. I'm the short one on the left:

And all of my siblings with my grandmother in 1977. I'm the one with the goofy hair and the mustard colored butterfly dress (that I HATED) second from the right:

Boys, bike, dog and me blowing bubbles. How about those Laura Petri pants... remember Mary Tyler Moore in The **** Van **** Show?! I loooved those pants. Don't know why except they were so comfortable.
I just previewed my post and it wouldn't print d-i-c-k or d-y-k-e, but you all know what show I mean right?
I love these photos! Andrea, did you have a thing for green or were you dressing up as someone special? The negotiating one is a really good snapshot, good timing from the photographer. And the bubbles one, you have this confident runway model look :D I wonder if it's because as kids we were all "stars of the show" in a way?
Andrea, you got some 'splainin to do
it;s so funny this thread cam up. Ijust scanned this old photo's to kee a safe copy of. The two other then me crying I thought wee lost forever tillmy step dad finally gave them up last year and gave them to my sister to give to me. We are not on the greatest terms and Ithought he had thrown all my stuff away. I was so happy! The dates are 11st one 1969,2nd 1974 then the tap dancing one I believe is 1976?
Christmas 1966. Both the bike and my dress were red. I don't remember the bike manufacturer. I actually never liked that bike, and much preferred skate boarding and climbing trees.

oh there's a scotty on your dress!
This thread is hilarious.

Easter 1969. That's me on the right (dig the awesome cateye glasses) and my two sisters (twins, but not identical). Gawd, I hated having to dress up for Easter pictures.
auw, you had matching purses!! :D
My mother had glasses like that all through my childhood. Then she got the big 80's glasses with multicoloured frames. She still has those.
This is a fantastic thread.
I just have a few childhood pics here but I'll scan one or two when I get to the office next week!!
Mine will have to wait until we get back to Ohio, if the thread's still going on. I'm loving this thread! :)
Here I am holding baby sister Trek420. Isn't she cute? And I've finally got glasses by this time, so I can actually see her. Trek looks to be about 1 in this picture, which means I must be 8. I didn't have a bike yet then. That was a year later. A green Schwinn that I had til I let my flatmate at college use it for summer session when I took off to Norway at age 20. The bike got stolen that summer.
Me and my sis - in our matching Danskin stretch clothes (I'm the one with the guitar)
Here are three of me. As a baby, sporting a shiner that my brother gave me, and with my three brothers on vacation
I am enjoying seeing everyone's pictures. I have always liked to look at pictures. There is so much history/many stories behind each. I guess I am pretty sentimental
Hey wackyjacky1
You were not the only ones who had to wear white gloves............yuck!!!
That's me with my Mum, in Regents Park, London around 1952..................yikes, that's a while back.
It's a great thead, love seeing all the different photos.
BTW, I have not used a scanner, I used my digital camera and took a pic of the pic and it did not come out too bad.
Clock
First picture I am about 4 maybe?, probably 1958.

Next it's 1965 and I'm 11, in NYC.
I remember when that picture was taken- I was walking to school in Greenwich Village down west 11th street with my friend Susan (she's the brunette). Susan always had nice warm clothes and gloves and tights.... i had bare head, neck, hands, a too-thin coat, the wind was blowing up my bare legs and I was freezing my a** off!
http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1138/...0abe0d.jpg?v=0
I remember trying to stop shivering and smile while Susan's father took the photo that November morning, having us pose on some stranger's stoop. He took FOREVER.
I did occasionally used to get some pretty good hand me down clothes from Susan though. ;)
Here are 2 of me, umbrella photo was the spring I was 3. The other is of my one-room schoolmates. I was in first grade along with Jimmy the boy in the bib overalls in the front row. I'm to Jimmy's left. We were dressed up for the picture, notice how everyone (except my brother, in the middle row) has their shirt buttoned right to the top.
