I am thankful for.....

I love to reflect on the year and what I have to be thankful for.

What tops your list this year?


I am thankful that the transition from being a mom at home to a full time grad student has gone smoothly and that I am able to learn things easier now than I did as a 20something.
Our family hasn't experienced death or had major illness.
I am thankful for the nights with my family where we shut everything off and spend time laughing in the living room together.
I am thankful for the time spend fishing, camping and hiking with friends and family.
I am thankful that I had the opportunity to ride my first century ride this summer.
I am thankful for the summer of the puppies and the experiences that it it opened up to my kids.

That's just the short list!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I am thankful:

-My husbands Crohn's disease stayed nice and quiet
-My Dad's cancer stayed in remission
-My Step Mother in law's cancer is back in remission
-My friend who died blessed my family with laughter when she was here
-My dogs were healthy this year.
-I have a job and a house.
-I found new activities like hiking and mountain biking to keep me enjoying the outdoors.
-Vacations the broadened my experiences and made me thankful that I can walk and enjoy the outdoors.
-A wonderful place like TE exists to share these nice thoughts with. :D

I'm thankful for:

-a job and a warm home
-nature and all it's amazing beauty
-good health to enjoy the outdoors
-my husband
-my dogs who bring me endless joy
-my friends who I'm far closer to than my family
-having good insurance to cover expensive medical bills;)

I'm thankful for:
a supportive family
a wonderful partner
good health for me and everyone in my family
my little house and the opportunity to make a home for myself
my job that I love and that allows me to make a difference and work from home
the opportunity to live more fully than I ever have before

Wonderful idea!

I'm thankful for my family -
* my DD15 who is so silly, and wonderful that I have a tough time believing that this incredible kid actually came from me!
* my DH who last night because I was not feeling well, cooked AND cleaned and thought nothing of it. He's a great guy
* my furfamily Jimmy and Kimo who constantly remind me that the best way to greet loved ones is at a full run and full wiggle.

I'm thankful I have the ability to cycle and hike the way I love to.

I'm thankful my friend who was recently diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer has had tests that showed the cancer had not spread and that she has a good chance at beating it into remission.

As much as I complain about it, I know I'm very lucky to have the job I do, and the benefits that come with it.

That right now I am in San Diego with both of my adult kids. This doesn't happen very often. Last night we went out to a brew pub and had a "beer tasting" of six shots each. It was incredibly fun to be doing this with one's children!
Tomorrow we are having Thanksgiving with my dad and my brother, who we never see.

So MUCH to be thankful for!
I am thankful for:
My faith!
My loving family and my wonderful husband!
My very funny and eclectic group of friends!
My 15 yr. old cat Indy and my 8 yr. old Corgi “Darcy”!
My health
My Job
My home
My talents - two of which have brought me great joy this past year - my art and my music!
My new friends I have met on TE!

The list is so long I don't even know where to start.

-good health
- DH
-my adorable dog
-having a job with benefits
-life here in Colorado
-my "toys" (bikes, skis, canoe, kyayaks, sewing machine..etc)
-the sun, snow, rain, wind
-having food on the table

- My car is still going strong and I don't have a payment for the time being!

Thanks for starting this!

I am thankful for:
- my family!

- a committed and wonderful wife

- a daughter blossoming into a beautiful (and responsible) young woman

- a son who is my best buddy

- my mom who is flourishing in sobriety after joining AA
- a job that I have the capacity to do even in the challenging current state of the world,
- the frustrating mess in the kitchen...it shows we have a vibrant home
- the ability to be active resulting in the best cholesterol reading in the last 10 years

I woke up feeling particularly cranky and pitiful, but then reminded myself that I need to focus on all the great things in my life. I repeat Tri Girl's list as it's my short list but add my fun and loving cats to the list as well!

There are so many things to be thankful for, and I try to remember that every day. But this is one I'm particularly thinking of today:

--my little grand-fetus, who has made it through the scariest weeks (20, and 24) that his big brother had trouble with, and I'm thankful for this very strong intuitive sense in me that he will make it well past the 30-week mark (unlike his big brother) and be a full-term baby.

--I'm thankful that his big brother will be here tonight, all of 3-1/2, in perfect health and, dare I say, superior intelligence, in spite of what he had to go through to get there.

--And that their mother, my DIL, has grown into the wonderful woman I always knew she could be.

Wow. So many things to be thankful for (in no particular order):

A roof over my head
Employment
Being able to periodically indulge in buying toys
A wacky, warm, weird, supportive family :D
Ditto for friends
Ditto my SO
Ditto my work "family"
Chloe & Hunter
Relatively good health

Sigh. My house got robbed this week and they took my flat screen tv. They had to have seen it through the big bay window I have if they were circumventing the periphery because you can't see it from the road. Fortunately not much else was taken and there was little damage. This is the first time someone did a B&E in anything I lived in. It's creepy. I have to say I was a little spooked that first night. Two other houses in the neighborhood got hit as well. You think your home is a safe abode. That feeling is gone now, and the vulnerability of the locks in my house are quite pronounced. I am in a prime spot, farther off the road in a wooded area where it is easy not to be seen. But one can easily see if my car is not in the drive. I always knew it could happen, I just never really thought it would.

However, I am thankful I have a house. I am thankful for the warm wonderful friends I have who treat me so well.

I am thankful that I have a good job to keep the house. And I found out the day after it happened I am in line for a nice bonus. In tough economic times I never expected that.

Although it makes me real angry, nothing of value really, was taken. A flat screen can be replaced. I have homeowners insurance. I still have the meaningful things. And, no one got hurt. I didn't get hurt. Except for when I took a tumble down the steps the next morning on the icy steps to check to see if anything from the shed was stolen. So, I am thankful my exercise and bone density held off any bones from fragmenting. Slammed down hard on my forearm/elbow and my lower back. Thought for sure I would crack something.

I am always thankful for the health I have.

They didn't steal my bikes.

And lastly. They did not steal my turkey. That allowed me to continue to cook a very delicious Thanksgiving meal for my parents and allowed me to have a warm wonderful dinner with them. I am entirely thankful that I have two healthy parents in their early 80's who are still with me.

This is a very nice thread. I was thinking about this today as well.

At one point in my life, our thx-g food was a block of gov issued cheese. It was the most food in the house. Very good cheese actually. Maybe this is why every holiday like this I take a pic of just the food alone on the table before the meal is served.

Health related issues were one big thing for us this year. I am grateful that all those involved are here for me to hug and say, happy thanksgiving to.

I am thankful for my health and sanity.

And same for my family and friends. After all, it weren't for both, something quite serious is missing/can't start off quite as well for other things in life/world to happen.
