I thought it was fun to see which bikes were in a number of pictures. I'm searching for a touring bike for bf and got some good ideas from that web site. I wanted to post a picture of my road bike in Austria, but it says "fully loaded" with front and read panniers. I thought the juxtaposition would be funny...
I found that site when researching the Davinci Destination touring bike that I bought off e-Bay.
I spent waaaaaaayyyyy too much time oogling over bikes. It's like porn to me- looking at touring bikes all loaded up and sitting in front of beautiful scenery. Winter time is my time to read tons of CGOAB journals and get my touring fix.
Thanks for posting the site!
Trigirl, did you end up getting a DeVinci? I was looking at them (from discovering them on that touring web site), and they look nice. I have exceeded my bike allowance for the year, and now I'm shopping for dbf :D We are hoping to do a short tour in the Spring of Yellowstone before the park opens to cars, and I need to get him set up with a touring bike before then...
Yup, I'm the proud new owner of a 2004 Devinci Destination. I got it on eBay for $400 and I LOVE it! No tours with it yet, but I hope to take one very soon (although it'll only be an overnighter somewhere).
I hope you can find dbf a used one. They seem like really well-built bikes. All the reviews that I read online seemed to be favorable to them. Yellowstone in the spring sounds wonderful...:)
This is a very cool site thanks for the link!
I got the touring bug when reading Miles From Nowhere, by Barbara Savage. Anyone else read that book? Cool read and they made it seem perfectly doable. Some day........
yes LOVED that book..
I sent a picture of my bike (from the C&O trip maybe) to that site, but haven't seen it posted there. Maybe my destination wasn't exotic enough.
I loved the book Miles from Nowhere! That book has inspired so many people to take up bicycle touring.
Great site. Cool to see so many touring bikes. Glad I found this forum!
Just curious: is Miles from Nowhere illustrated? I'm thinking about getting the e-book version, but if it has good pictures I'd rather buy the real book. Amazon and the publisher, bless them, don't say.
just ordered a used copy from Amazon...but I think you can "look inside" the new copy.
There were some photos in it.
