Finished my first Half-Marathon!
Yippie! I did my first Half-Marathon today, the Houston Half. It was so much fun! (I think I might have gotten the bug ). Weather was good... ~45 at the start, but warmed up once the sun came up so I was very comfortable in my capris and t-shirt. Finished in a very respectable 2:16:54.
I think that I will be signing up for the SF half this summer... wanted to do it last summer, but was training for a century ride, so didn't. The goal for that one will be a 2 hour half-marathon. I think that if I start working on speed drills it is doable....
Anywhoo... just wanted to share my excitement. Photos aren't up yet, but here is the info on my splits:
Bib Age Chip time Pace 10K 9 mile
28405 28 F 02:16:54 10:27:00 01:06:48 01:35:25
tomorrow the final results will be up including official chip times (these are technically "net times").
Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Way To Go!!! Great time!!
It's a sick addiction:D:D but so fun. I love the half because you can still have a life with your training plan. My advise is to sign up for another soon. Find one that keeps you in training now and don't let off. I found that I did so much better this year when I went from one to the next. I didn't slow down to small 3-5 mile runs and then try to gear back up then let it slip back again. I did 6 halfs in 9 months in 2007 starting in April. I hope to do the same this year. Look at the Ryan Halls half marathon plan on runners world. It really helped me with speed work and tempo runs. I couldn't follow it perfect but tried to really do the interval work.
We have great halfs and fulls in Idaho!!
