Awesome!!
oh, good you didn't go to bed yet
Coooool!
Party at Mimi's house!!
Is it powered off the tire like an old-fashioned generator light? How much drag to you feel? You want drag while riding a trainer anyway.
What kinda smoothie?
It is powered like the old fashioned generator light. There is some drag, yes. But I could have done this for a long, long time. The thing that drags got really hot. I'm not sure that's good. I will contact the extracycle people and see what sort of tire they recommend. There are good gatorskins on this bike now and i'm not sure that's the best combo.
It was a banana mango smoothie. It's honestly the first one I ever made. I would like any smoothie recipes you guys want to share with me!
You are brilliant! Wouldn't it be cool if we could power our homes this way? I had an idea for a Gym (I'd call it "the power station") that would generate power from gym equipment. Too bad I know nothing about how to make it work, or if it would work.
The problem comes with cooking and heating. Those things us A LOT of watts
hey, i'm not brillianT!!! http://www.bikeblender.com/store.html
these guys are!!
What a cool item! I've often thought it would be nice to rig a bicycle powered generator to the TV. This would either result in the end of my addiction to tv:o or I'd get super fit:o:D. They do make generators/trainers, http://www.econvergence.net/electro.htm but they don't really produce enough power to run the tv. Too bad I'm not addicted to the radio
1 c vanilla yogurt
1 c frozen fruit of your choice (Strawberries!)
1/4-1/3 c milk (depending on how think you want it.)
sweeten to taste (I use 1 package sweet n' low)
If you have plain yogurt & want to use it, add a tad of vanilla extract.
Southern Belle, that did the trick. yogurt and vanilla extract!!
we used maple syrup (1 tablespoon for 2 servings) instead of nutrasweet.
thanks!
anyone want one? I had to ride the equivalent of 1 mile. :D
This is in today's paper in USA Weekend:
Chocolate Banana Breakfast smoothie
2 scoops chocolate-flavored whey protein powder
1 medium banana
1 c ice
1 c plain non-fat yogurt
1 c. skim milk
2 servings.
Personally I'd play with this without the ice. Maybe freeze a banana or use other frozen fruit. The secret of a great smoothie. ;)
Mimi, you got your recovery potion "on board." You could do the five-hour 100 mile Spinerval "century" workout and never bonk!!!
BTW, I love those fleece-lined, suede cycling shoes you're wearing in the photo.
I think you should make milkshakes in that blender.
1 Cup orange juice
1 banana, frozen is good
1 small carton yogurt
big handful of frozen strawberries (drop in one at a time)
Drop in one ice cube at a time desired thickness. I like the added crushed ice.
Fresh pineapple instead of strawberries is great. Sometimes I throw in a handful of oatmeal or a tbs peanut butter.
Hey, Clock, good to see you too! There is no room in my kitchen for a bike either. I'm in my basement!
Velo, I'm glad you like my extreme bike shoes. :D:cool:
(what's the diff between a smoothie and a milkshake?)
Southern Belle, I see no need for the ice either. I put bananas in the freezer. They're PLENTY cold (and a lot softer than ice)
Carpal, thanks for the recipe. But i think i'll pass on the peanutbutter or oatmeal!
I want a blender for my bike!
My favorite smoothie recipe:
6 frozen strawberries (whole big ones)
1/2 frozen over-ripe banana
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1/2 cup skim milk
Blend! (makes one smoothie)
I sub in blueberries, raspberries, nectarines, mango, whatever...for the strawberries and I love it! As long as the fruit is frozen, you don't need ice and you get a nice thick and yummy (but not too sweet) smoothie. Oh, and if the bananas aren't super ripe - a splash of maple syrup helps. :)
ah! Raleighdon LOVES his icecream. Thanks!
3 parts Tequila
2 parts Blue Curacao
2 parts freshly squeezed Lime Juice
1/4 to 1 fresh (not pickled! - quantity depends on heat) Jalapeno Pepper
Ice
NSFW... toobad ;)
Love those special cycle-blender shoes you're wearing, Mimi! ;) :D
Hey, Oakleaf, even just a shot of amaretto can perk up any smoothy--and you get all that almondy goodness, too.;)
Maybe we should open a bar/fitness center. You mix your own drinks so to speak.
Low electricity bills.
Sorry, it's hard for me to get my mind around alcoholic sports drinks..
but yes, you'd have lower electricity bills for sure.
