My new bike!

I got my new bike yesterday-finally. It had to be shipped from Cervelo in Canada and that took two weeks. You know how slow customs can be. I was coming unglued waiting so long. :eek:

I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!! I'm like a 5 year old on Christmas morning.
It looks a little like a circus bike. 48cm on 650 wheels. The smallest frame on the smallest wheels (there was a 61cm in there when I picked it up- they looked ridiculous next to each other). Not that MY frame is small- but us short stumpy ladies have to ride the toy bikes. :rolleyes:
Haven't gotten to take it out for a ride on the road yet, as it's rainy (and my new baby isn't getting wet just yet ;) ). A lot of white means I'll have to clean her after every ride, but it's a small price to pay for speed and comfort.
I can't wait to get on her and ride like the wind. It's more bike than this middle of the packer needs, but it's the last bike I'll ever need to buy (there's no upgrading from here- except.... a titanium frame, in which case DH might just kill me...:p ).

Just had to share with you tri geeks like me (and I use that word fondly) who'd appreciate her beauty-fulness. :D

(The m-dot decal was added by me last night- had to let her know how special she is to me, and how much I'm expecting from her in the future).

I love small bikes,they are so cute! I have a 49 CM for my roadie and next to my boyfriends bike... it's CUTE! I tell him he has a big, ugly bike. HA!

So, what are the components on the bike? Details are needed lady!

We have the same pedals. Did you know that they now make that model in black too? You don't have to upgrade to get black now. I have the blue ones on my black/yellow Cervelo... and I wish I had known about the black ones... cause then the bike would match all the way around!

Oh, are you going to put a drink bottle between the aero bars? Or bottles behind the seat? On my Cervelo I have the same as you... one water bottle holder. It sucks. I'm taking her into the shop this weekend to get my computer moved to the outside of the areo bars and then putting a bottle between them. I might also add the bottles on the bake so I can carry a lot of water without having to do a Camelbak on longer rides. I don't like wearing a Camelbak in aero- it gets annoying when it gets empty.

She's full carbon (frame, seat post, cranks- all but handlebars). All Dura Ace components. The seat post had to be cut down 6 cm (I'm apparently far too short and they couldn't shove the seat down any further).
The cage holds a large polar bottle (at least it holds more than a tiny one). I'll use an aero bottle, and may put bottle holders on the rear (but I hate to lose my seat bag). :confused: Don't know what I'll do for sure yet.

The saddle is one I bought to put on. Why do stock saddles suck so much? It's got pink accents, but nobody will see it cuz my big butt will be covering it. ;)
The store didn't have the speedplays in black, so blue will work ok for me. Again, nobody really sees it, so I'm not that worried- although I chose a wireless cyclometer because I didn't want the black wire running down the tube. I'm so vain.... :)

Wow TriGirl!! I love that bike, it was one of the models I was looking at when I was thinking of buying a full on tri bike. It is considered the best bang for the buck and is very versitile because of the adjustable seat tube/saddle positioning.

One thing to note, my husband has a Cervelo with the same type of rear drop out and it is tricky to change a flat in the rear. I would highly recommend practicing a few times. But that's a very small price to pay for a super fast bike with a rear wheel tucked in like that. Sooooooooo aero.

light_sabe_r: it's a Serfas saddle. Was the only performance saddle they had that didn't look like my grandma would be riding it. It's pretty comfy.

Wahine: thanks for the tip! The guy at the LBS said the rear drop out was tricky to change (and said I'd probably have a rough go changing it the first time :rolleyes: ). I read that rear drop outs like that were a pain in the tushie to change- so I'm not much looking forward to it. I'm crossing fingers I won't have a flat before race day- don't want to take it off before then (might not be able to get it back on). ;)


See- I love sharing things like this with you ladies. You get excited with me. My non-tri friends here are just like "wow- cool". They have no idea what they're missing.

The best tip I have is to make sure that you have the chainring and cassette adjusted to the smallest cogs before you try to take the wheel off. It gives you more length on the chain the allow you to sneak around the derailleur.

Yea, I decided if I go with bottle holders on the rear, I'll get a one of those bottle holders that is basically a saddle bag. It's made to put all your gear in there. And with 650 CC wheels... you don't want to be without spare tubes. I know... because my Cervelo has the same sized wheels!

I also went with a wireless computer because I didn't want wires messing up the my frame. Although I hate the wireless computer I got and it started acting nutso last weekend. So I'm getting it replaced with a $40 one that I love. I'll deal with the wires.

That's a great bike! Yea, there is no reason that you will need to upgrade. Congratulations on getting such an amazing bike!

AHHHH Love her! LOVE HER! BUT... I think *I* have the smallest bike on the planet! I wanted a cervelo, but they even the smallest is too big. My QR is an XS, and yeah, she's a midgee with 650c wheels. Such a small frame that I can't fit a bottle cage in the triangle! :rolleyes:
I do love the cervelos tho.... sigh..... :)
Oh- and if you decide to upgrade may I suggest the profile cobra carbon bars... I have the t2 cobra carbon extensions with the carbon base bar to match. It's one sweet set up! AND I highly recommend Profile! When I was hit by the suv awhile back my arm rest was cracked and pretty much broken off. When I explained it to the profile rep at Wildflower asking if he had a replacement I could buy, he reached under the table and gave me a complete new set. They really stand behind their product.
Oh and one more thing... If you want a carbon rear bottle launcher I think I may have one laying around I could send you. Just let me know and I'll look for it. Aways like to see unused bike parts go to good homes. :D

what's with you tiny tri ladies? one of my tri friends here is tiny and rides a toy bike (said lovingly). when i ride next to her on my 58cm i feel like a bohemeth.

That is one sweet,beautiful,speedy ride you got there!! You will need a face shield on your helmet to keep the bugs outta your teeth from all the grinning you'll be doing while you are riding!!!:D :D Full carbon,Dura-Ace,etc. I can feel my bike lust and envy growing. Did my first ride on her today. An organized tour. 40 miles of hills. We had the BEST time together. We cursed the uphills together (although I'm faster on her than my Giant) and we "weeeee'd" down the downhills together. It's like butta' on that bike. I not only have a new loyal biking friend, I bought some speed (as in mph, not the kind that'll get me arrested- although I might get a ticket on her ;) ).

Thanks for all your kind words, and for letting me show her off, ladies. I LOVE to look at pictures of other people's bikes, so it's nice to be able to share the excitement with people who truly appreciate it! You're the BEST!!!!

Enjoy and relish EVERY moment you are on it - even the painful ones... and you know there had better be discomfort on a bike like that - you realise you HAVE to push yourself to the limit... push yourself to the extreme!

My partner just bought the P3 Carbon to TT on (like Cancellara/CSC rode on in the Tour) and the R3 (the one Cancellara won Paris Roubaix on in 2006, and O'grady won this year on). He is absolutely smitten with both of them too.

You will love this bike, I can just tell!!! That is just so very exciting. I don't even know how you could patiently wait! I'd be...dunno...bouncing off walls or something.
