Time to post those goals for May.
Im afraid I didn't get in either of my two goal rides for April so I will keep that as my goal for May. Lets hope I get in a little more riding in May than I managed in April.:o
Lets hear them.:)

I hope to get in less than April. Maybe 25,000 feet.
Mine's a very modest goal: to get to the top of "my" hill without taking a break anywhere along the way to catch my breath, my heart rate, and find my legs again! I'm getting closer!
When I can do that, I'll start working on doing it twice in one ride!

Okay......I am committing to ride Buck skin (front side) twice and climb ride Garden Creek pass once.......ouch:eek:
Oh what have I done?????? I am not sure of the elevation but know that I have my 305 garmin I will find out.
I'll stick with my goal from this past month: 18,000
I'll go with 20,000. No more crazy stuff after My Arizona Adventure.
I just want to finish the Central Coast Double.

can I join in? My goal for May is to finish the Memorial Day ride in the bay area w/out stopping on any of the climbs!
I just wanna make it up "Mt Hockaloogie" without DH having to ride behind me in the Xterra with the hazard lights blinking.:o
J/K the Alb Century, June 2, will be enough hills for me for May.
I'm gonna set my goal as 13,000. That might be too ambitious for me, but that is the stated goal! LOL
OK. Bike goal 30 000 feet. That's 6000 more than this month. Yikes. But I think I can do it, as long as I can keep riding outside.
Running goal stays at 20 000 feet. I don't really think I should be encouraging myself to run hills more than this.
Good luck in May everyone!!
May's goal is 13,800. I barely missed April's but I'm still 13% ahead of plan for the year. June is the big month so I need to keep up the momentum.
Hi Climbing Godesses!
I posted a (somewhat long :o ) climbing training question called Distance Climbing Question in the Tips/Tricks section. Any comments appreciated!
(It is about my progression of climbing and distance towards a goal ride in August.)
Thanks!! :)
Yay. Now that I have my Garmin I can talk about climbing!! Since I haven't a clue what kind of #s I've had in the past, tough to set a goal though.
Here we go:
1. Set a good base #.
2. Climb the Oak Grove Road hill without stopping. 20% grade. One of the first I checked out with the new toy.
I may need to adjust mine, I've already got 5,000 feet.
I'm at 3430. Goal was 13,000. So far, so good!
I just got a Garmin Edge 305 so I will be able to set some goals after a few weeks of seeing what I already do. :) What a cool toy this is!
I did about 7500' in April and I've done 4200' already in May so my goal should be well above 10,000. Maybe 15,000?
Got in 5127 Feet yesterday! Woohoo! (and saw 2 bears) Here are some internet pictures of where I was, although I didn't take these (and I apologize that I do not have the name of the photographer...they were from a personal traveler's website...not a commercial photographer)...there was a lot more snow up there yesterday.
How's everyone doing?
wow, Starfish - what a beautiful place you have to ride!!!
our death ride training ride yesterday was about 8000 feet. I may be closer to 30 for the month.
I was feeling good about my 3597 yesterday until I read ya'lls #s!
That's a good number, SB. Remember, everyone's got different terrain to ride on and is training for different goals. (In one double century last month I got 19,000 feet, and I am coaching a group for the Death Ride - 14,000 feet in 130 miles. But... I have friends who climb WAY more than I do every month.) Compare yourself to yourself! Do more next month than you did this month, etc.
Good advice for every single time someone asks "how fast do you ride?" or "how many miles do you ride?"
What - you mean it depends??
That reminds me. I need to stock up. :D
Hi all...got in 3445 on Saturday...I think I'm up in the 12,000s now, and my May goal was 13,000, so I'm pleased.
How's everyone?
I didn't set a goal other than to do more climbing. I'm already up to 13000+ so I'm happy. I didnt' know I did so much cllimbing before I got the gps. The sunday ride last week really added on the feet though. My legs were sore for days.
Tired. I think I probably didn't eat enough in my double century yesterday. Oh well.
I'm at 28,325 for the month and 135,508 for the year. Pretty good. I think I need to do more speed work, though. Especially if I have any hope of riding with my husband and having fun. (I'm definitely climbing better than in past doubles we've done together - but my top end is just a little more sluggish than it was before. Oh well.)
So how is everyone doing?
I accomplished my big goal - Central Coast Double. I'll probably finish up with 35,000+ feet for the month.

As of today, I think I am at about 12,500. My goal was 13,000, so with five days to go and barring unforeseen yuckiness of any kind, I will make my goal. In fact, I might end up more in the 15,000 range. :)
Like you, Veronica, I did mine! It was a pretty minor one compared to things I see here -- just to get all the way to the top of "my" hill in one shot.
Good thing about it -- I'm doing better on ALL the hills I climb now that I've figured out how to climb "my" hill!
And I'm starting to wonder just how many feet I am logging -- I don't have a computer that can tell me that yet!

I think my goal was 25,000. I should be around 30,000, depending on what I end up doing tomorrow. I think my real goal was "less than April", which was a crazy month. So I achieved that.
Okey dokey - looks like I will be at 33,650 for the month as I don't expect to do much more outside riding this week.
Lovely!
