Any ideas?
Tchotchkes: Little playthings, gadgets, ornaments, bric-a-brac, toys, cheap trinkets, dust collectors ....
Price limit?
How many guests?
Color scheme?
Is there anything in this sport that's inexpensive?
tubes
lubes
fridge magnets
small bottles of Red Bicyclette Merlot
LUNA lip balm
patch kits (about $1.50)
tiny blinky lights (from $6-$9) - I found a great brand of these that are really little, attach with a little band, are really bright and totally cheap - if you are interested I can find out what the brand is.
Park MT-1 tools - the coolest bike tool I own - also small and inexpensive
Park tool bottle openers - don't know the price, but they are just cool
patch kits
packets of GU instead of those almonds
sports beans
blinky things :D
zipper pulls
share the road stickers :D
instead of standard directions from ceremony to reception have a route map
tire levers
patch kits
blinky lights
ankle biters (reflective ankle/wrist bands for night/low light riding) http://www.planetultra.com/OrderForm...andsOrder.html
gu gel packs
clif blocks
gatorade singles
trail mix packs
Thanks.. keep 'em coming.
Trek - they are a thrifty couple so I think the budget is small. It's a small wedding.. really just family and a few friends. Color scheme? Uh.. I dunno? And I love your last comment...
I'm not sure their family and friends are into bikes so it might have to have a bike theme but not be specifically for a bike, if that makes any sense...
I love all your suggestions though! Esp the merlot one.
Like the park tool bottle opener, the anything (trail mix, gu gels, etc) instead of almonds (I hate those), the route map idea (love that one..)
Will pass these along to her and see what she thinks.. keep 'em coming .. cuz you know how brides are...
Hey, invite the bride to the board.
We recruit ...... TE members that is ;)
Then there's the gown :D
Oh, yeah...:p
I don't have many ideas for wedding favors. That wasn't part of wedding supplies when I did the wedding-thing.
little plastic bike pins
Second the "Share the Road" bumperstickers (good for riders and drivers)
invitations to a coffee cruise ride
bike coffee mugs
bike bandanas
put the tchotchkes inside water bottles .....
Create a special gift at http://cafepress.com -- mugs, pins, badges, whatever. It can have a bicycle design, logo, or pic of the happy couple on bikes. The options are wide open!
What about little bike bells? Is there such a thing as inexpensive ones? Might be fun to "ding-ding-ding" as the bride and groom dash off for their bikes.
my brother and his wife had water bottles printed with their name and date. They were even full of water for the drive home.
oooh.. more good ideas. Sent them off to the bride for her judgement :)
Do they make small sample sizes of Butt'r? ;)

:D
Hmmmm. Bandanas? What's with you and bandanas? You had another post about picking up a lost bandana out of a mudpuddle. Are you short on bandanas? I have 5 spare (blue, pink, lilac, white). 4 are sewn together into a Cinderella rag "skirt", but I could pick out the stitches easily enough. Interested?
Now back to wedding tchotchkes everybody. Don't want to start another Thread Drift
Could you make place card holders by bending old spokes (maybe picked up from LBSs)? New spokes are prob'ly too expensive for that.
Easy enough to find bike images on-line to copy onto the place cards. Or use personal snaps from a ride the couple have done together.
I like the bell idea. Could be combined with the tiny flashing lights instead of candles while waving the couple off into the night.
She wears them sometimes, looks great. Knott I have a Wildflower route sheet bandana, mamogram bandana. interested? .... back to wedding planning.
I don't think of bandanas as bike'ey" sure, I carry one sometimes but you risk it visualy saying "cowboy" not bike.
Not that there's anything wrong with that ;)
I don't know the age group of the bride & grroom or their friends, but chamois butter would be the catalyst for all kinds of innuendo and off color comments concerning lubricants, (personal and otherwise) their use, where, why, and when to use esp for the newlyweds, not to mention the juvenile behavior that is sure to follow. I don't think you really want to go there. Do you really want your wedding to be remembered for THAT?
They could find a bakery that can make iced bicycle shaped cookies (sugar or gingerbread). Each can be individually wrapped in cellophane and tied with ribbons in whatever colors the couple chose for their wedding.
How about customized headset caps with:

Just about ANYTHING can be customized for a price. How about a custom water bottle (even non-bikers can use those) filled with small treats in the wedding colors (I think you can order custom color M&Ms and jelly bellies).
