Does your bike (or bikes) have a name? If so, what is it?
My Marin East Peak all mountain, full suspension is named Bob. Bob is sturdy and true, a bit heavy at 32.5 ponds, but man can he take a hit. He does not balk at mud, or snow, or rain, and can handle a gnarly downhill like nobody's business.
Last fall, along came Gidget. Gidget is my new Titus Racer X. She is little and fiesty, lite and fast and nimble. She does not like mud too much, but she climbs like a ibex.
There was a bit of jealousy on Bob part at first, but now they seem to be getting along. As a matter of fact, I think that they are making eyes at each other in the garage.
Maybe we will be expecting some tricycles in the fall.
I love' em both and the funny part is the guys that we mt bike with call them by name!
Ruth
My new Cannondale is Miranda. She is a little spitfire much like my favorite Sex in the City character and also a Texas singer I love, both named Miranda.:D
My former bike was Fiona. She was a pain in the rear but her intentions were good, much like Fiona in Shrek. ;)
My bike is Dynah but I never call her that. I've never managed to really be able to call my inamimate (sp?) objects by names, as much as I've tried! One of my closest friends in high school had an old green station wagon that her family had always called The Green Demon, so I've always loved the idea of naming things, but alas, the names don't stick!
I've been waiting for my new (since feb) bike to tell me her name, but she hasn't done it. I suspect she is really a boy and I'm just not hearing his name...
It took Gidget 4 months to tell me...it will happen.
Other threads you must read to see all our names...

My bikes don't use their names for some reason...but my MINI does. He goes by Henry. ;)
Seriously, I've tried naming all my bikes (one even named herself) but they just don't seem to stick.
I will be the first to admit I'm not very creative or original. My little blue Univega Grand Turismo that I purchased some twenty years ago is know simply as "my little blue bike." I love my little blue bike!
My purple Giro 20 has no name. I guess I just do not have enough time on her to give her a name. I do sometime refer to her as "my purple bike" but that is it. I simply want to be able to ride her but due to a lower back injury I've had to stay off this bike (a result of improper fitting - does anyone know of someone who can fit a recumbent?) My back is feeling much better so I'm hoping this weekend BF and I can work on getting her to fit my short legs. I really do want to ride her again and soon.
My bike's name is Nathan. When I take him in for any work at my LBS my mechanic friend always calls him by his name.
Since my new bike will be a WSD her name is Natalie. I had to go visit her when the frame came in last week. Maybe she'll be built up by the time the weather turns more pleasant around here.
I also used to be a MINI owner. I miss my "Nigel" quite a bit. He was more fun than any other car I ever owned.
My Giant OCR3's name is Blue. Not very creative since it is blue and black, but there's something about him that's calm but fun at the same time (yeah, my bike has characteristics).
My older white giant doesn't have a name yet. I'm stuck between Miranda or Kenny. I went to school with a girl named Kenny, she had electric blonde hair and was very expressive and opinionated. Older giant is white and has bright pink and aqua blue accents.
I call my bike Lady. At first I didn't call her anything, but then everytime I referred to her, Lady slipped out so now I just end up calling her that.
Sidebar: Makbike, have you posted a pic of your purple bike, and if not, would you?
My Bianchi She bike is named Celeste...that is her color and her name. May be kind of lame; but it seemed to fit her. And it's a pretty name for a pretty bike. ;)
I probably posted on at least one of the other threads, I've slept (or tried to LOL) since then, but....
My Trek Navigator 50 is called The Little Navigator that Could. She's done more than any Navigator 50 should have in an entire lifetime already in just a year and half. 5700+ miles on a comfort bike, she's not stock Navigator anymore and is now a hybrid all of her own. Her first adjustment was an adjustable stem, then barends on her handlebars. She has had a rack added to the back (blew out her bottom bracket after 500 hard miles in a few months) and once she got her 1.5" Bontrager inverted treads instead of the 1.95 knobbies she came with, she was a lean, mean century machine :D
I fell in love with a Trek Pilot 1.2 WSD in Lava Red and she was to be named Pele (Lava Red) but we didn't get a chance to get to know each other sadly. The 2007 model (we've only met in photos) is Mineral Blue and she's been whispering her name is Lady Ice. Doubt we get well aquainted either (or at all until I'm back on a bike some time in the future) My favorite LBS (downtown location) closed a couple weeks ago so I don't get to have my periodic new bike smell fix now. :( Until I can make my way back to Carmel (22 mile ride one way) we won't be meeting soon.
My metallic green custom Rodriguez touring bike is Emmy which is short for Esmerelda as I think of her as my emerald gem. :D
I saw that in your sig. and that's why I mentioned mine. LOVE the name Moneypenny! What color is she? Mine's a 2004 silver w/ black bonnet stripes and I absolutely love him! Best car I've ever owned, hands down. :D
Funny thing is...I also just sold my 2006 Dolce Comp a couple of months ago...so we have lots in common! Her name was Tinkerbell, by the way. :)
My Bianchi is named Sprout--because she's little and green. I have to admit that I "stole" the name from someone else on the Forum that has a Bianchi named Professor Sprout. Can't remember who that is. Mimitabby, maybe? In private, however, I call her Baby.
I have a kitty named Henry. Love it!
I've probably posted this elsewhere but here are my ponies names:
My road bike is Lavender Menace because she's a subtle shade of lavender, she's subtle, like me
My Commuter is Bradley but she's fast getting less "tank-like" :)
The Motobecane is tentatively named "Mixte Fixe", I wonder if Chris at Robinson Wheelworks will be done with her anytime soon?? Chris I know you Google the shop name weekly so - how's the bike?
Mercury.
Quicksilver... freeflowing
Messenger God
get in the drops- can you feel Mercury rising?
her rider- mad as a hatter...
May be shortened to 'Mercy' or lengthened to 'merqueri'
she's a brushed aluminum allez elite with *full* black 105 grouppo, black wheelset, black wraps, black brooks with silver rivets.

My Specialized Sequoia Elite has gone through three names and has finally settled on Ellie. My hybrid is called "The Beast" because he's so heavy.
I don't get her until later today or tomorrow...
this is what she looks like, tho...http://blog.mattgoyer.com/photos/roadbike.jpg
with Shimano WH-R 540 wheelset, 16 black, bladed, paired spokes each wheel....
She's 18-18.5#.
I have a Giant TCR which is magenta, silver and black (T-Mobile colors). I call her Mags......and I just adore her!!!! :D
I've seen so many names here that I love. I hope imitation truly is the sincerest form of flattery, because I may end up using one of them when I get my new road bike.
My Trek hybrid is matte green and I finally named her Nessie(Loch Ness Monster) and she peeks out when she wants :) but doesn't get ridden as often as the Giant road bike-which btw is still nameless-Any ideas?
silver w/ black and yellow striping.
Jennifer
yeah. Fred.
He's grey visible carbon, and now has got nice yellow stelvio tires, so pretty. I think I'll get yellow bar tape next time.
Grey and yellow -- very pretty!
My bike's name is Liberty. :) Cannondale R700 Feminine; red, black, and silver.
My clear coated carbon Giant is named 'Black Beauty' BB for short.
My specialized rockhopper mtb is a purdy shade of royal blue - he's Baloo.
My trek 2100 wsd is currently being called Margurite (she stops for margarita's for some reason....;) )
And my green hulky diamondback hybrid is called....the Hulk.
Happy bike naming:p
My road bike is a Novara Carema Pro. She is lime green and cream. Her name was Sweet Pea for about 6 months, but she has since renamed herself Zoom. What can I say, it's what she likes to do best. ;)
My mtb is a Specialized Hard Rock Pro. She is a carmelized champagne color with tan, dark brown and light green accents. Her name is Pounce. It fits her well. Of course after this past weekend, she could rename herself mudball... :D
oh.... I thought she was avocado green...
what can I say? I have this strange avocado obsession...:p
I can't decide between Big Red or El Rojo.
