Lucky you! It's 9F here right now. :( I have an interview today and I'm wearing a turtleneck and a thick wool sweater...very dressy don't you know. ;)
Good luck with the interview, Queen. At least they'll see that you're a woman who knows enough to dress warm when it's cold, come in out of the rain, use sun block when under an ozone hole, etc. :)
Good points DoW!! :D
It could be an interesting position, it's working as a member of the team that is digitizing parts of the UI library collection to facilitate open access. I'm sure some of it would be dull but I'm really interested in the "open access" side of things.
good luck queen.
and do you really have to rub it in hellosunshine? http://www.smileycons.com/img/emotions/121.gif you better enjoy it for the rest of us too!!!!
I saw on the news today they consider Dallas to have the worst weather in the US. 33F and COLD rain. Poor KSH and her new bike are stuck inside... ;)
Aside from those couple of weeks of bitter cold that I imagine you Europeans are "enjoying" right about now, this winter hasn't been too bad. More consistent snow than we got last winter, so far...
Last winter I could have rode my bike, though... this year, I wish. Just when the streets are clean enough, it snows again.
We're supposed to get snow, sleet, and freezing rain tomorrow in central NC. Looks like another work from home day! :D
Emily
I just posted about my interview in TD...the poor interviewer is from CA, she's here for the week and is freezing her butt off. :p
Not sure whether I'll be able to work from home tomorrow or not....hopefully I'll be able to....the weather is looking yucky in NC - snow then sleet then freezing rain then rain. YUCK!
Emily & CA in NC - it's snowing up here - what's it doing down there?
Our forecast is for 2 - 4 inches between now & tomorrow a.m. Hopefully not too much ice on top of it all!
It's snowing here (Durham)! It's enough to have turned everything white - of course, it's supposed to change over to freezing rain and then rain. Current forecast is 1-3 inches + 1/4" ice accumulation. They didn't close our office, but I'm not going in (and I don't know very many people who are). 35 miles on I-40 each way in this is not my idea of a good time.....Plus if I work at home I don't have to wear a suit:D :D
lol - I have on my "snow" clothes today - I am an administrator in the local school system & on these days I wear jeans  & hiking boots. (If you could see where my house is you'd know why!) Today I also have on a lambswool retro bike jersey. All I have to do is hope the superintendent doesn't stop by my office!
Schools are closing at noon....
Heh - they closed schools here before it even started. Actually probably a good move, since we're lacking in the snow removal equipment department down here:) The bikes are staying in today - they did manage to brine all of our roads:eek:  Don't want to do that to a nice bike.....
Oh I agree - Godiva (my bike) is sitting on the trainer right now, waiting for me to get home this afternoon. She likes to stay clean and dry....(and so do I!)
My beautiful (yet to be named) Trek 520 is waiting patiently on my trainer too. Time for an ECT session tonight, I think.....
Godiva - what a great name:)
I'm home today in the snow too -- very pretty out in the woods. It looks like it may have just changed over to partly freezing rain here in Orange Co. Ugh! I ran yesterday and ride the trainer tomorrow, so I think I'll just lift a few weights and do some ab work today at home and call it good.
Glad you stayed home too, CA!
Emily
Emily - you are in Orange Co? I work in Orange Co......VA
Spectacular day here today. Low 40's and sunny. The mountains look fabulous and I had a nice run this morning. Life is good. I hope it holds out for the weekend and maybe I can ride outside!:D
It's going to be another HOT weekend here in Perth. Great, another 41c day & unable to go to the beach :( I'm not going early in the morning as who knows what might be lurking in the water. I know the stingers love us, along with the sharks. Sharks are ok, they just want a nibble
I'm not complaining, yet..
c
It's 33 degrees and raining. **pout**
Couldn't it at least snow more??????
WAH!!!!
Yeah, that was a bit of a bust, wasn't it? it was pretty while it lasted, but if it's going to be cold and gray, I want snow!!! :(
Now they're saying next week is going to be brutally cold: lows in teens, highs in 30s. Ouch! Guess we're finally getting our winter.
Oh well, back to the office tomorrow (I was secretly hoping it would snow a foot and we'd have a LONG weekend!!! )
Emily
Boo hoo hoo hoo...We've been in a gray fog inversion for over a week. The high is 31 and the low is 28. It's gray and ugly and miserable. I'm about to run away! Everyday the weather report is for the fog to burn off by 10 am. I think the weatherman just wants to keep us from leaving the area. I need to see some sunshine!
Being in Florida, the weather has been rather pleasant:p but cold for my skin (highs in the 60's and lows in the 30's, yes I'm a complete cold weather wuss, but what do you expect from a sunshine state girl!). But, the bad weather is coming, especially if last night is gonna be a taste of things to come. We got hit by some major tornados and heavy rains with a lot of lightening. This has been occuring for the past couple of weeks but last night was the worst (a little earlier in the year, oddly enough). This is when my time of riding is halted by severe lightening storms:( and Im stuck on the stand in the afternoon.
If anyone would like to send their rain to northern CA, we sure could use it. But please, it should arrive between the hours of 11:00 pm to 3:00 am and only on weekdays. The address is Camelot, CA :D
Spring is around the corner here. I've seen acacias blooming (ahhhhchoooo!) and the ornamental fruit trees here on campus are about to pop. I always miss Colorado snow around the holidays, but once the weather starts to warm up here, I'm glad to be in CA.
Here in Denver we've had 44 days with snow on the ground. We got 3" yesterday. It's cold but sunny. Unfortunately it's too cold to go skiing (high winds) so I'm doing the trainer again today.
There's more snow here in the Denver area than in the mtns. I'm originally from Cincinnati and have not seen this much snow for so long. I'm loving it!
Oh, the kids only got snow days when the blizzard hit at Christmas, our streets are still packed in snow and ice but the kids don't miss school. Plus, they're allowed to go out and play in it at recess! That was unheard of in my school district in Cincinnati.
People here aren't used to so much snow, the record no. of days was in 1983,
60 some days then. It's wearing thin on the transplants, especially the ones from California.:D
It's -5F here with wind chills at -24F. Brrrrrr.
Dar..we have the exact opposite..It's 38.8C where I live atm..
We can't go to the beach yet again this weekend as it's just too hot. Tomorrow is going to be cooler..

Even in Florida it's freezing this morning: 32 degrees at 7 a.m. OK so it's northwest Florida but it's still the southeast--not supposed to be THIS cold. No club ride for this winter wuss this morning. Rats!
I won't be riding outdoors anytime soon either. We had a little snow here in Tennessee on Thurs night. the next few days we'll have lows in the teens. My thin Southern blood can't take this!
Oh for spring. but I have planned out a nice training schedule for a century starting in March.
I am happy to see the weather man was wrong. They have been forecasting we will stay in the 30's today with lots of wind. Just looked and it has been revised to low 50's with only 9 mph winds. Looks like we will be able to bundle up and go. I am ready for spring though.
We went out with friends last night...by the time we left the bar it was 4F. The frozen walk to the car was unbelievable (6 blocks), I can't remember the last time I was that cold.
It's about 20 F out this morning, sunny, with increasingly howling winds at 10-20 mph. We had our first real snow last night! I'd say about 3 inches. Not enough for snow shoeing or x country skiing, but it sure looks nice. But, too bad it's going to be FREEZING next week. Not higher than the teens, lows below zero F.
Well SheFly is probably out riding down Strawberry Hill Rd or across a frozen pond. I'm getting ready to do a yoga DVD and (maybe) get on my trainer!
Robyn
We've had the coldest weather in a decade in S Dak. This morning it's -7 and we've had monster winds with this cold snap too. No snow to use my new snow shoes either. I'm enjoying riding via everyone wonderful pics, ride blogs and reports. Trainer just doesn't count!
four degrees here aat nine p.m.
Right Now I am still inclined to ride tomorrow because hey, I was given a pair of ski goggles. Have to remind myself what a flat tire would be like, though...
It's -5 F right now. Supposed to get down to -11 tonight with dangerous windchill of -32. Makes me want to hibernate!! A high of 4 tomorrow. I will most happy when this deep freeze is gone!!!
I did manage to ride on Sat. The high temp was 5. Winds were 25mph. Windchill, I really didn't even want to know. I was on a ride called the BRR Ride in Perry, Iowa. This was the 30th year the ride was held. I've gone on 11, so I was determined to not miss out. I must say, it's the coldest I've ever ridden in and I did NOT do the whole ride. (22 miles). Some people who did seriously ended up with frostbite on their faces, toes, and fingers. I am NOT that dedicated. Or stupidly stubborn. :( I rode 10 miles. That was plenty. Then I got a ride back in a nice, warm vehicle. Tons of post-ride fun and I wasn't too frozen to enjoy. Now I will wait till it warms up a bit before I try go out again.
I think all my layers of clothing weighed almost as much as my bike! :D
annie
I managed to ride all of 12 miles yesterday. At least it was sunny but I still haven't figured out my layering right and my toes were froze. Dumb - I didn't put on wool socks like I normally do at this time of the year. I figured the neoprene shoe covers would have been sufficient. Nope.
Also in the upwind leg my fingers were freezing in my new TE lobster claw wind gloves/mitten thingies, but on the return trip (downwind leg) they were ok. I like the gloves. A lot! Cannondale 3-season gloves. But at 35o need to wear liners underneath I think.

If my toes hadn't been so cold I would have stayed out longer, but my knees were starting to be cold as well. As I narrow my threshold for cold it looks like it's got to be sunny, wind under 15mph, and temps 30-35. As long as I get 2 of the 3 conditions it seems to be tolerable for a short time anyway. That, or I need warmer tights. I have what Performance calls their warmest, windproof tight. So how to layer tights? Knee warmers on top? Thought about trying my rain pants on top. Any suggestions?
Supposed to be in teens, single digits, with highs in 20s most of this week. Guess I'll have to go to the gym. I'd much rather be on my bike.
