Will V bring her BOB trailer and tow us up some whine and cheeze for the summit ?
(if not, I know of another bob she could tow)
Uh Oh - just saw this post!!! Yes, I'd like to come too. I think I've only done the South gate climb right? Isn't the north gate approach steeper? I'd really like to get to the Juniper parking lot this time, and maybe even further. I was *so* close last time.
To ride the North Gate Rd, we start at Arbolado Park in Walnut Creek. I think I always remember riding with you from the Railroad Museum.
Z ! Where on earth have you been ?!? It would be great if you join us.
And Bikerz, do you have a Seven yet? :D
I don't think I have the gears or the legs to do this one, but I was wondering...would you like a SAG driver?
-- Melissa
hmmmm, tempting!
...... haven't been on the bike but 2 or 3 times since the injury (mid July). Between that and a party the evening before, I may be hurting. I'll think about it!
Hey you! Have you heard us talking about you!
Where you been? How's life? The new job? Ever-thing?
things are working out well!
I like my job; I'm learning a lot and getting a taste of small town politics.......
I work 4 days per week in King City and spend my 3 day weekends in the Bay Area (I'm house sitting for a friend, right on the Bay overlooking SF).
Spent a relaxing Thanksgiving with my best friend from high school and her lovely family in SoCal.
I have the week off between x-mas and New Years (with pay) and plan to visit family on the East Coast for x-mas, and may go to N.Y. with friends for NYE.
:D :) :D :) :D :)
Cindy, what's the status of LunaChix for next season?
Congrats on the new job and everything!!!
Lorri
thanks Lorri!
We are in our "off season" right now; that being October through December. We plan to start up the Cinderella Training series again in January/February timeframe. In fact, I'm meeting with Bekki from the Valley Spokesmen this evening.
As for my role, I'm stepping down from managing the team, and letting Denise (she was on the Valley Spokesmen's Women's Team) take over - we need someone local to handle the outreach and Clif Bar / LUNA connection.
But I'm in the Bay Area every weekend and plan on staying an integral part of the program.
Wish I could do the Diablo Ride this weekend - our high is only supposed to be 42 and very windy all weekend! Yikes!
The Bekki you are talking about - is she the one who had her first baby at 40 and rode almost all the way through her pregnancy? I used to be on the Valley Spokesmen Women's team years ago.
jan the spokewench
Good to hear, Cindy!
That would be Bekki Livingston and I could see her riding all the way to the delivery room. She's a pretty incredible woman!
OK - so I was going to wimp out on this ride because I haven't been doing any hill rides and blah, blah, blah, what if I can't do it, etc. :o But I though how fun it would be to see all of you guys, and so I'm in for sure (well, unless it's raining...)
I just ordered a pair of tights from TE so I'll have something to wear that fits!
Are there details yet? Where and when we are meeting?
(Oh, and no Seven yet - just the same ol' bike as before...)
bikerz "(Oh, and no Seven yet - just the same ol' bike as before...)"
does that mean it's on order??? :)
I saw a "chance of rain" in the long term forecast - that would be a bummer. :( Up the mountain in the rain would be unpleasant, but down the mountain in the rain would be very scary!
And Trek420, no Seven on order either - maybe after I see what my 2006 tax year looks like!
Hmmm, this is tempting! I still don't think I have the legs for it, but if I bring my mountain bike, I'll have the gears for it. My low gear is a 22/32. Now I just need to get a set of slicks, and I'm in. :D
It would be great to ride with you, Trekhawk!
-- Melissa
That's an idea...I don't have the legs for this either, but do have mtb with slicks....weather depending.
Didn't you just get your mountain bike totally re-done?Quote:

The forecast isn't looking so great for 12 steep downhill miles, plus I have a cold.
Bill says that is the weather is good he's still planning on driving down and hauling Leslie with him, but we're in a wait and see pattern.
Leslie, the same for you?
Oh SK - I'm sorry about your cold!
I'm up for it if it's not raining or if rain is not threatening, but 12 miles of descending in good conditions is taxing enough for me, so I don't want to push it in iffy conditions.
So we'll all just check in Friday night or Saturday morning?
Sounds good. We didn't even set a time.
However, Ms Trekhawk is driving all the way from Grass Valley so she'll get to make that decision.
Mmm, hot apple cider is good for a code, right? Would cinnamon schnapps be even more good?
Sorry about the cold SK. Hope you will be feeling better soon. I will probably make my decision Friday night as I will need to get away pretty early Sat morning to get to the ride start at a decent time. If it looks good for riding Sarah tell Bill I can get myself to Diablo that way he can stay home and nurse you. Not 100 percent sure yet but it looks like a friend of ours (a pilot with Cathay) might be in SF for the night so I might need to head to SF after leaving you all on Saturday. Tell Bill he is a gem though for thinking of me.
Now all I will need is some directions on how to get there and a chant for good weather.:)
Gahh. Folks, this is not looking good.
From the latest weather report:
---------------------------------------
...RAIN RETURNS FOR THE WEEKEND...
THE DRY WEATHER THAT CENTRAL CALIFORNIA HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING FOR THE LAST
TEN DAYS LOOKS TO BE COMING TO AN END. A SERIES OF PACIFIC STORM
SYSTEMS WILL BEGIN TO MOVE INTO CENTRAL CALIFORNIA LATE FRIDAY
AFTERNOON...WITH RAIN CONTINUING THROUGH SUNDAY.
THE FIRST PACIFIC STORM SYSTEM WILL BRING THE HEAVIEST RAIN INTO THE
NORTH BAY FRIDAY NIGHT INTO SATURDAY MORNING...WITH LIGHTER RAIN TO
THE SOUTH. GUSTY SOUTHERLY WINDS WILL ACCOMPANY THIS SYSTEM. THE
NEXT PACIFIC STORM SYSTEM WILL BRING THE HEAVIEST RAIN TO THE SANTA
CRUZ AND SANTA LUCIA MOUNTAINS...WITH LIGHTER RAIN TO THE NORTH.
MOTORISTS ARE URGED TO DRIVE WITH EXTREME CAUTION ONCE RAINFALL
BEGINS. THE LAST TEN DAYS OF DRY WEATHER HAS ALLOWED A FILM OF OIL TO
COLLECT ON ROADS. RAINFALL ON TOP OF THAT OILY LAYER WILL INITIALLY
RESULT IN SLIPPERY DRIVING CONDITIONS AND INCREASED STOPPING
DISTANCES. TRAVELERS GOING INTO THE SIERRA NEVADA MOUNTAINS SHOULD BE
PREPARED FOR WINTER DRIVING CONDITIONS.
--------------------------------------
Not what one would call ideal conditions for a steep descent. :(
Yeah, that doesn't sound promising.
Leslie, will you still be down this way to meet up with your family friend, even if the ride is a no-go?
No rain here yet, but very high winds. The Diablo weather station reported a peak wind speed of 66mph at 5pm. I think I'll make a date with Coach Troy for tomorrow and save Diablo for another day.
It's been spattering rain here in Oakland all afternoon, and the weather report I just heard called for thundershowers all weekend starting tonight.
Rats.
Rats, secretly relieved cause I can't climb worth beans
I think I'll go to the dojo Sat & Sunday (everybody sing "going to a dojo, ooh ooh baby, going to a dojo, c'mon nowow...hey!" g*d I'm old :p )
Yep I think we will have to reschedule for the New Year.
It was windy enough up my way today to make descending a little hairy so I dont fancy doing Diablo in those conditions.
Z - I wont be going down to SF now.
Originally I was going to meet up with Pete and the boys and our friend but it just seems easier now to let Pete go on his own and the boys and I will stay at home in the warm.
Have a great weekend everyone and try to stay dry.:)
I may give it a try anyway. I need the climbing.
