silver in the hospital
this is silver's hubby (feeling a little self-conscious on the team-ESTROGEN site).
Silver was in a 30mph wipe out today that left her with a couple of broken ribs, back bruises and some really nasty road rash:eek: . Bike is ruined, helmet cracked, but she's going to be OK, except for pain.
Here's my request:
Please post a long list of best wishes to her so she can come home tomorrow and "feel the love"...:D
No PMs please.
Update: She's up to five broken ribs, small pneumothorax (mildly collapsed lung?), and the pain is getting worse. In addition, now that I'm on the TE site twice in one day, I'm feeling a little 'girly'. Not sure if she'll be home today or not...
Good news is: a) I've done a lot of laundry today and b) I just bought the new Trek Medone she's been wanting to cheer her up. Shhh! It's still a secret...

oh silver, sorry to hear about your crash!
lots of downunder love coming your way wishing you a speedy recovery. sorry to hear about the bike, but the main thing is that your injuries are mendable!
-
(((((Silver)))))
I am so sorry about your crash. Feel better soon.
-
Well Silver's testosterone laden DH, fear not - estrogen wipes off easily unless you are female :) .
I am so sorry that Silver had such an aweful accident, but am very glad to hear she is going to be alright. Please tell her to post details once she is able to motivate and in the frame of mind to share.
And Silver when you read this, know that I am sending you mental hugs and wishes for a speedy recovery. Why not milk this, and have the DH wait on you hand and foot?? I certainly would! ;)
-
Silver, please get well soon and as soon as you can, tell us all the gory details!
-
Get well soon silver!! {{{{{hugs}}}}}
~Sherry.
-
Best wishes for a fast recovery, silver! Get well soon. :)
-
Sorry to hear about your crash silver, hope you're feeling better soon!
-
(((silver))) Oops, hope the hug didn't hurt. ;) I'm so sorry to hear about your crash. 30 mph? Dang girl you're tough. Ribs are quite painful and take a long while to heal since breathing keeps them moving around. Just hang in there and go very slowly. If you ever feel like something isn't right or you're strangely out of breath, don't hesistate to call your doc ASAP.
Best wishes on a speedy recovery and I agree with CyclChyk, milk it. Actually, I think you'll find he'll need to do just about everything for you for a while anyway. When you're ready, I'd like to hear a little about what happened.
Take care! (and thanks silver's hubby for letting us know what happened and that she's ok.)
x.

(((verygentle((( Silver ))))))

Oh wow, that's awful! Poor poor Silver!!!
Thank goodness you will be ok with time.
Please feel better soon. We all wait to hear from you again as soon as you can type.
Thank you Silver's husband, for so kindly letting us all know! (and my husband always chuckles whenever I get a bike gear package in the mail from "Team Estrogen")
....shivering at the thought of crashing at 30mph!...
-
Hey Silver,
We're here for you...wishing you well and sending positive thoughts for a speedy recovery. 30 mph? Details when you are ready.
Oh yeah, sorry about the bike too...
-
Hugs and get well wishes going your way. Get well soon, and please write when you can. Glad to hear you are gonna be OK. Just be glad it wasn't worse.
-
Silver you have a great DH. Glad he let us know you are down so we can send some much needed support your way. Take care and DO NOT, DO NOT rush to get back on a bike anytime soon. Let your body recover, no need to reinjure yourself, take it from me, off my bike going on 8 weeks now and possibly another 5 weeks to go. Let the body heal!!!!!
-
What a wonderful DH to think about getting on here for you and letting us know what happened. Thanks DH!!!
Silver I am very sorry you had such a bad wrech but am relieved to hear that you will recover and be fine. I hope you have a speedy recovery and aren't to terribly sore.
Please let us know how you are feeling. ((((((HUGS)))))) I hope they don't hurt.
-
Glad to hear you will be better soon. You will be ok in time and eager to ride again, but as others have said give yourself time to heal. You'll know when you're feeling ready, but no sense rushing it until then...
-
Silver- Sorry to hear about the crash! Hoping for a speedy recovery for you. Thankfully nothing that can't be replaced (you!) was damaged beyond repair.
-
Big hugs your way, but gently so not to hurt your ribs.
Warm thoughts, heal fast.
-
Hey Silver-
30 mph crashes are nothing to laugh about but maybe we can look back on it later sometime and grin... :D Heal up and take your time in doing so- don't rush it. Lots of rest, lots of calcium, D and C. ... and E! Heal up, hon, and get back out there. We're all here for ya!

Hi -
Barb from Perry County here. I feel for you. I crashed last summer and I know what it's like to struggle through the healing phase. Be patient with your body. Listen to it as you mend day by day. I'm sorry about your bike. Make sure the doctors are NICE to you. You've earned the right to compassionate care. Focus on healing and feeling strong again. Let us know how things are going when you can.
-
Silver--Sorry to hear about your crash. Take care and get well soon.
Sounds like you'll need a new bike...

Hi Silver
Oh, that sounds terrble. I know you've been through a lot lately, esp seeing a fellow rider killed and I feel for you. Rest up, heal and be strong... remember, you are a triathlete - nothing can keep you down for long!
(((Sending thoughts of a speedy recovery!)))
Joy
P.S. Sending nice vibes to a thoughful DH, too.
-
Have yourself a complete and speedy recovery!
Maybe we'll all get to hear about your search for a new bike ... after this recovery period. Remember, painkillers are your friends! Don't go all heroic and suffer more than is necessary.
Best wishes!

30 mph!!!
you are one lucky lady!!!
Rest, rest and more rest. Let people love you and help you. They *like* to do it; so it is not an imposition or an admission of weakness or lack of independence.
Advice from personal experience:
Take the pain meds, Silver.
There are a zillion-ba-jillion kinds and one will suit you.
Pain just depletes our personal resources that are needed for getting well.
Good for your DH to post this
-
Ouch, Silver! Sending healing wishes your way. We'll be here when you want to talk about it!
-
Take care, silver, I hope you're up and about soon.
-
Hi, ho Silver!
Sorry to hear of your mishap. I feel your hurt. Get well.

Ouchie, Silver!
Boy, when you wipe out, you do it right! 30 mph! Man!
If you are home when you read this, Welcome Home! Your DH was a great guy for letting us all know so we can send you good, healing vibes.
I'm wishing you a speedy recovery, but don't push yourself. "Feeling better" and "being healed" are 2 totally different things.
Take care of yourself.
(p.s. Brave Soldier is great for road rash (hmmm...speaking from experience? Yup!))
-
Oh, no. Sounds like a heck of a crash. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
-
   30 MPH!! I'm so glad you weren't hurt worse than you are. Thankfully the helmet took the biggest blow to your head too! It was such a pleasure to have met you during the Hilly and I know you were nervous about riding after having ridden with the fellow who was killed on a ride. Please take care of yourself, take you pain killers (they ARE your friend, when you sleep your body heals) and when you are ready and totally healed, don't let this scare you off the bike. (((((gentle hugs))))))
Thank you so much Silver's DH for letting us know about her accident. (((((((Hugs for DH too)))))))) You hang in there, I know that had have been quite a scare for you too. :(

OMG, Silver! Glad to hear that you are going to be ok!! Get well soon!
I had rib injuries from snowboarding a few years back and as I recall, the pain kept getting worse long before it started getting better. Here's to hoping that you are on the upswing of the pain side (or at least that you got good meds!)...
When you are up to it, let us know how you are doing! :)
-
Silver, I'm sorry to hear about your crash. How scary. hope you have a speedy recovery and are back on your feet (and your bike) in no time.
Best wishes and virtual hugs,
Kate
