J/K. Reading it, I was actually thinking "You know... I think today my favorite cyclist was the chick I passed on the way to work. She might've been on a hybrid, wearing baggy jeans and weight she'll eventually shed with this velo habit, but my god, she's out here biking." I don't generally root for the underdog, but you know, I think it's the people who bust their @ss every day..."
That sounds totally sappy, though... oh well.
My spouse, actually. He rides a 30 year old steel Raleigh International. He's totally unpretentious about cycling. He loves hill rides and invented a 54-mile Seattle Waterworks tour as a means of climbing to all the highest points (water towers) in a very hilly city. He did Tour de Blast on that Raleigh two years ago (80-some miles from a town off I-5 up to Johnston Ridge at Mt. St. Helens, and back--7000+ elevation gain), and MAY get a new bike someday but only after doing RAMROD (Ride Around Mt. Rainier in One Day) on the Raleigh first. He's small and wiry and thus climbs well, and is the least show-offy person in the world--just quietly does his thing. He's ever helpful and generous with his time and bike help. He loves riding the tandem with me when not doing hideous hill rides. He's cool.

Wow. how wonderful that you can write that about your spouse. To be able to share a passion like cycling is so lucky. I love my DH, but he won't ride more than 10 minutes with the kids.Quote:

I think Denise is pretty high on the list too, but i go right to my DH who not only got himself on the road to fitness, but got both of my sons on a double century before they were in highschool and then finally got me involved too. (I was a lot more stubborn and set in my ways then the kids were)

Actually, my DH and myself. My husband is a "monster". He rides fast even if cannot do it anymore. He always works on improving himself and tries new things. The other day he tried going up our regular hill spinning with only one leg. :eek: But the best part about him - he got so many people into riding and although he is much better now, he still loves to ride with our friends, work with them and help them in thier improvement. I like my riding because I can still beat most of his friends uphill even being prego! :p

My son is my favourite cyclist. He's always ready to go out, whatever the weather. He's unfazed by the fact that nearly all his friends have their stabilisers off yet is willing to try without when i help him but is completely happy to go at his own pace.
He always wants to race and will try to ride up hills that even i have to drop to 1st gear on and he's riding an ickle 12inch wheeled childs bike!
4 year old andrew is my favourite cyclist and always will be!

On a human level, this week it is me. I rode my first, and last cross, race this weekend. I came in dead last. Was lapped by the men, twice I think, and some of the women. But I had the most fun EVER! I even got a shout out from the announcer when I finished, cause I was so excited that I actually finished. I threw my hand up in the air like I had won! Next week it will be someone else.

Levi Leipheimer. He seems like a really nice guy and he and his wife support an animal shelter. Not to cause controversy, but I'm also big fan of Floyd Landis. Until he's proven guilty, I think he's an amazing cyclist and a very humble guy. In real life, DH is my favourite cyclist. He's the one who got me started in the 1st place.
