Hmmm... any Bay Area Girls want to make the drive? Yahoo says it's about 8 hours to 29 Palms from my house. I've always wanted to see Joshua Tree...
I have that Friday off for Veterans' Day.
V.
I might even camp the night before in one of the campgrounds.....beats driving out there in the morning...:D I'm looking forward to this ride.
I'm looking forward to this ride too. :D
I might try it too.... not sure I want to struggle to keep up though so we'll see! If I don't go I'm gonna have to bribe CG for a private tour sometime!
T~
bumping this up.... it's about a week and a half away.... sounds like it's going to be quite the party..... for anyone camping (or staying in motel) friday evening..... there will be a cookout/dinner at the campground!
i'd love for TE ladies (and their spouses/signficant others) to come join the fun!!!!
I went to check it out and its really a ride not to be missed.... absolutely beautiful!!!
Have fun girls and I want to see heaps of pictures posted when you get back.:)
waaah! I wanna go... sigh... can't wait to see the pics and hear about it... have fun!
hi BC! well we sure wish you could come... but we understand, too! how's your mom doing? has she has the surgery yet or is it upcoming!
hopefully we'll do this again some time when you've been doing some riding and are able to leave your mom for the day (or overnight if you're a camping kind of person!)
hi Tprevost and Cali!
Mom's surgery is Nov 16... so the weekend you're riding, I'll be moving her stuff down to my house... she'll recover there for anywhere from 6 weeks to 3 months post surgery. We are very hopeful that this will give her a resolution to the problems she's been having and allow her to return to a pain free/fall free lifestyle.
I've been riding for a few weeks again... but whew... 3 months off the bike definitely is noticeable... LOL! I also switched to a Brooks saddle... so far it seems much like riding a brick.  I'm trying to with hold judgment til it "breaks in" tho... :o
Have fun and please post pics! Hugs... BC
we'll be thinking of you and your mom.... and please give bigK a big hug, too!
no doubt there will be tons of pics taken..... this group is VERY picture oriented! lol!
For those camping on Friday night, there will be a short night ride so bring your lights!
we had a BLAST this past weekend..... it ended up being 3 days of fun.... the campers friday night and their adventures finding a site in a very full vacation-weekend park (we never did find them :( til it was too late to drive all the way to where they were!!!)..... the road ride saturday with some brrrrrr cold weather.... the post meal margarita-fest.... and for those that remained a 2nd night.... a crash and burn mtb ride on sunday! there are a gizzilion pictures posted over at bikeforums.... in three different threads.... so i will send you over there if you'd like to see some of the fun (and shenanigans!)

Thanks for planning a great ride CG!!
My old stomping grounds! My sister and I used to park at the west gate (Joshua Tree) and ride to the look out point, can't for the life of me remember the name of it but it was sure a pretty ride.
Thanks for the pictures, gawd makes me (almost) miss the desert. Sigh.
key's view...
and sorry the links with the photos at the other forum are dead :( they had a BAD crash and we lost all three of the VERY picture laden threads.... *pout*
I was gunna say that but for some reason it didn't sound right, LOL.
I saw most of the pics before the crash, enjoyed them immensely!
There is no place like Joshua Tree (was) National Monument, oh unless of course you go west through Yucca Valley to Pioneer Town! The rocks there are just like the formations in JT. I've ridden up there quite a lot too the Pie Town/Pipes Canyon loop is a beauty too.
Sorry for the hijack......the rainy northwest does make me long for the desert every now and again, sigh.
