OMG! It has not stopped since yesterday! And not a light rain either! It just goes and goes! Not used to this type of rain. My dh had a dentist appointment this morning and said there were very full creeks out there! And I can not find my umbrella!

Yeah, it looks like it's just parked over CA!
We were supposed to get it tomorrow, but now they are pushing it off to the weekend. Grrrrr... Ironman training in the rain is not my idea of FUN!
But yeah, it looks like calling it a "stationary front" is an understatement.
UGH..
Stay dry and warm!
Denise
P.S. How is your niece doing?
Rain, rain go away! You're ruining my training plans!
I was going to try to at least ride after work all week since I can't commute in and be a drowned rat, but I think I'm going to just take a couple of rest days. I've committed (in my head) to riding a century rain or shine on Saturday, but four days of riding in the rain just isn't sounding good right now. Well that and rain is one thing, thunderstorms are another!
Saturday is the SF 200K. I hope it stops before then. My last double century I rode mostly in the rain, but it was just a tad warmer in September!

Yeah, but don't y'all need water in your reservoirs?
Up here, further northeast, it started on Sunday evening and did not let up 'til this morning. So far it's just very overcast and the streets, etc. are still wet, but nothing coming down . . . Our forecast shows "Chance of Showers" tomorrow through Saturday (that's as far as it goes right now). At least my CylceOps Fluid2 is getting a workout . . .
Yeah, we really do need rain.
And now that I'm injured, I'm not complaining too much (sorry happy healthy riders! :p I'm hoping we get ALL our rain in the next 2 months when I can't ride! :D ). I just hope we don't get another crazy storm and lose power again. I am pretty sure I won't be able to start the generator with one arm.
We do need rain, and snow in the Sierras where a large portion of the state's population gets its water. I'm in Santa Barbara right now and it is really coming down, the street on one side of the building is getting so flooded that everyone who parked there had to move their car because the water is several inches deep. Fortunately my car is safe in the parking lot.
Right now I'm trying to figure out if the 101 (my way home) is closed at the Gaviota pass, which is notorious for mud and rockslides. According to the CHP website it was closed a couple hours ago. :(
Yes, do I know what MP means! Last year during my rehab when it was raining outside I was holed up inside reading mags and keeping warm. This year, however, it's a different story!
Veronica- the weather service is saying ANOTHER storm is on its way. Yuk! It's so cold- and then for you to ride in wet AND cold seems pretty nuts if you ask me. (But then again I'm not one of those Triple Crown queens).
Let's hope it isn't as nasty as it's supposed to be in the next few days.
Meanwhile, GET ON YOUR SPIN BIKES LADIESand enjoy a good cardio workout!
Remember, it's winter now, BUT we've got spring and warm weather on the way.... always look on the positive side of things :p:p:p
This sure cuts into my 200 miles a week regimen!:(:(:(:(
34 kids and indoor recess???? Ah to be a teacher again.....
Hey Bike Goddess - I saw Road Bike Rider quoted you in their last email!!! :D Very cool.
DH has to help me set up my trainer bike. Gotta get that going...
It's just moving over San Diego now... it was sunny this AM but now at 12:30 it's daaaark out there :D We really do need the rain and are fortunate to be having a rainy winter finally.
However, after several months off the bike due to my ride buddy's death from Pancreatic Cancer, I am ready to ride... and it's gonna be raining. Figures huh? Ah well... next weekend. I did get a 17 mile ride in last weekend... I helped the manager of Trek Store in La Mesa... Bontrager is developing WSD saddles and needed female test riders... saddle was actually pretty good! I was surprised... :)
I *want* to be able to ride. But we *need* rain desperately. Our reservoirs are still really low, and we need something like 15 inches of rain to fill them up before hot weather. Otherwise, we're looking at all sorts of (even more restrictive) water restrictions. Raleigh already asked all users to limit to 35 gallons per person per day. Haven't been able to clean a bike outside with water for 4-5 months...
