Lisa - a while back one of my patients was wearing a piece of Ibex. I got all excited, and waxed rhapsodic about Ibex and wool. She listened, then said she didn't know anything about Ibex, she just bought it cuz it was on sale, and oh, it's made of wool?
I wanted to offer to buy it from her right then and there, just so it could have a loving home...

Thanks Bad Juju. Just got my second Bregenz, a black one from SAC. The temps here in Minnesota are well below zero. I have been wearing my Bregenz with a shak underneath and staying warm. The dense loden wool really cuts the wind, and looks good enough to wear to work.
Lisa, you are hysterical. Not everyone has the same attitude toward clothing, though. That woman must have been having a bad day!
Trisk, I'm glad you found that coat. It does look like a good cross between a dress coat and high tech stuff. Very nice. I was wondering where you were when it started snowing. I was thinking about you in your sneakers. Steve and I were taking a walk in our neighborhood when it started (my lazy day of exercise, even though it's 2.3 miles, up a hill) and it quickly became very white outside.
Yes, I was amazed at how many layers Trisk had on. I was wearing jeans, a light wool crew neck and my wool dress coat. At the last minute, I put the Shak on over my crew, because I thought it might be cold walking from the T to Zoe's (I was a little warm). I had a scarf and gloves on, but I didn't wear my hat.
I love my apple green Bregenz coat! It's definitely not for warmer places though- very heavy dense wool.Quote:

An Ibex with special needs.
My poor, shrunken "unstable fabric" Switchback pullover might be a lost cause.
But I can't bear to send it back to Ibex because I'm afraid it will just be thrown out.
It was a Large. It's now probably a medium after one wash in cold water. I'm thinking it will end up a small after the next wash.
The fabric is bagged and pilled, but I will do my best to shave the pills off and re-shape the bagged elbows.
Is there someone out in Woolweenie Land who would consider giving this poor needy Switchback a loving home? Someone who wears a size small, and is willing to de-pill the fabric every so often? Someone who can forgive this Switchback its faults and love it, "unstable" fabric and all?
It is heathered charcoal gray, with lime green accent stripe on the back of the collar and lime green Ibex logo embroidered on the back.
After I wash it and work on it, I'll post pictures.
Ok, washed/drip-dried/defuzzed.
It did shrink again. I would definitely consider this a "Small" at this point.
Width across shoulders (seam to seam) 14 inches
Sleeve length (top of shldr seam to end of cuff, the long way) 24 inches
Torso length down center back (bottom of collar to hem) 23 inches
Over all it's in pretty good shape, the bagged elbows reshaped fine. There are still some fuzzies here and there, and a dog hair or two.
Not bad for a freebie-up-for-grabs. (I'll pay shipping)
No picture, sorry, my camera and I are not getting along at the moment.
Knot, send that thing back or offer it up to someone with a baby! :p

I'm afraid they would just throw it away, and it's still a good sweater. It's just now waaaaay too small for me and it pills easily. I only wore it for a couple months. It still has a long life ahead of it!Quote:

BUT, the point is that you should get a brand new sweater. That is what their warranty says. That's what we get when we pay that much for this stuff. And how do you know they'll throw it away, maybe they'll give it to charity. Why don't you ring them up and see what they say?
