Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? Unfortunately I haven't gone all that fast yet on my Trek. I think I hit top speed at 27 or so on my ride that I do. It has some hills which are hard going up and kind of scary going down. I did hit over 30 briefly on my Specialized when I was living in Colorado and heading down a mountain road.

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: Sorry, I won't be able to make your event, party, mother's garage sale because I have to work.

Most memorable moment on my bike: I road 20 miles down a mountain road back in '98 and it was the most breathtaking ride of my life.

Most fun ever had on a bike? The most fun was the one I went on with my now husband on our second date. I fell in love with him on a bike! I was concerned ahead of time that he wouldn't have a bike that I approved of and we both had Specialized Hard Rocks, I knew it was meant to be!!

I just want to first thank everyone for all of the great and helpful advice on the forums. I knew pretty much nothing to begin with, and this site has been amazing!

What's in your stable? The new baby (a Specialized Tricross Comp!), and the old department store Schwinn that I was riding up until yesterday. Let me tell you: BIG improvement!

Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? Well, see... I'm currently unemployed, and my new bike sufficiently sucked up all of my savings. As of yesterday I'm completely broke, which leaves no room to buy any nifty, much wanted cyclo-computers. Maybe sometime soon :rolleyes:...

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: I'm pretty big on telling the truth. I'd feel too guilty otherwise! The only one that I can think of is, "Of course, I have my homework done, Mom."

Most memorable moment on my bike: It was probably earlier this summer when I started doing rides a little over two hours long, and I just came to the realization that I COULD do it. Pushing yourself and finding that you're stronger than you think is a great feeling.

Most fun ever had on a bike? Getting to test ride a bunch of road bikes from different shops was a blast. They were so much lighter than what I'd been riding! I just got to get on and go and see what it felt like to speed along in the drops for the first time :p. That, or when I finally got to hop onto my new Specialized yesterday and (carefully) try out my new Speedplay Frogs. The combination of the new bike and pedals had me riding happy waves. :D

Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? 37.7, coming down a long hill on a training ride, about 15 years ago. I loved it, but don't think I'll ever try that again!

Most memorable moment on my bike: Finishing the STP pedaling with only one leg due to a severe knee problem.

Most fun ever had on a bike? An improptu 3-day ride on Whidbey Island, two ferry rides, and camping overnight in what turned out to be a cemetery.

Welcome Susan! You are not too far from me. :) I have a Trek 1000 and love it. Please share your favourite biking areas in Ohio when you get a chance. I am quite new to biking and do not know the trails around here-yet.

whewwwwwww: welcome one and all! Gosh darn I leave the board alone for 2 days and it explodes!!! How exciting in that.

It's so fun to see so many new faces and from so many different places. ......and different ages! congrats on the new bike fledge and welcome Australia!

My current road bike is a 1989 Trek 1100 LaBiker, a buddy built it out for me last year coz it was only a 50 cm and I'm only 5'2" (the bike is still just a tad too tall but he's such a sweet bike I don't want to give him up!)

Most memorable moment on my bike: Riding 60 miles in the Tour de Cure for the first time. It was my first metric century.

Most fun ever had on a bike? Riding in the Tour de Feed, just enjoying the scenery and the road and feeling really good, even after the first 50 miles!

Tucson is a lot like Albuquerque as far as altitude and winter weather, isn't it great to be able to ride pretty much year round!

Yeah, it seems great. Although I've lived in Tucson for less than a week now, so I'm still trying to figure out a good route for riding. I can tell I'm going to like it though!

Most memorable moment on my bike: Riding the trails at Mount St Anne in Quebec on afmily vacation. On oneof the many inclines I waited at the top for my husband(the boys had already gone on). When he got to the top he fogot to clip out and fell against me and we both toppled over. The bruises lasted weeks.

Most fun ever had on a bike? Just riding as much as I can.

Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? 35 mph, going down a hill west of Mineral Point, Wisconsin, surrounded by picturesque dairy farms. Three years ago, when I still had my 1986 Nishiki TriA triathlon bike.

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: I can't think of one ;). Uh oh, I think that gets me in a recursive lie loop!

Most memorable moment on my bike: Coming back up that Wisconsin hill, chasing after my husband on his brand-new Bianchi. He goes screaming up the hill, I start to slow, and I think "OK, time to switch to my granny gear". Problem was that I didn't have a granny gear! I bought a Trek 1000WSD shortly thereafter, but she and I didn't agree with each other, so I sold it and bought my Felt, which I love.

Most fun ever had on a bike? Going downhill around the side of Haleakala to the Tedeschi Winery, Maui, December 2005. Breathtaking scenery! Of course it was literally uphill all the way back, but it was sure worth it. A close second is riding up to the Maroon Bells outside of Aspen, CO.

Falling in some bushes - ok I'm new to this game. What happened was, I was trying to figure out if I could make it between two posts and avoid my pedal hitting the stump of a middle post which had been cut down. By the time I had figured it out my pedal had hit the stump and I was in the bushes.


Most fun ever had on a bike?
Trying to get out of some bushes when I was lying head first down a small incline with my bike on top of me. I suppose you had to be there...:)
