I really loved it for about 24 hours. Then I started worrying about something happening to my mom...etc. I got over it. But I forgot to turn the phone off, so it kept searching for a signal, and wore out the battery! Poor phone. Useless and ... really useless!

Have not fear, I'm sure all this good will and perkiness will disappear the minute I set foot in my office. :o
There is a reason this hangs in the window of my computer room.....
-
Yeah. This is my desktop on the work computer.

Morning to you. It's a fine....rainy day here in Chicago. I was going to swim in the lake today, but that's proabably not going to happen. I need to find an indoor pool, otherwise I'm going to be wraught with excuses not to swim.
Now, do I commute in like a true bike commuter or take the subway.....

Fun! We've done a lot of rides together and it is really fun. It's like cycling but you go much faster, especially uphill!

Old snap is back.
May I please lob a couple of bombs at the management team?
-
It's good to have you back snap!
This is tough - waiting on the official call about the job. There's all sorts of second guessing going on in my mind today. Aargh! Positive thinking. Positive thinking. All will be well - right?
-
snap welcome back. glad that your you again.
fish don't worry. good thoughts coming at you from me. everything is going to be fine. just relax.

Fish--at the very least, you've done all that you can do. Now relax and enjoy...whatever. You've done your best, and there's nothing else for you to do at this point. You could research triathlons in the BR area! Hang in there. We're all pulling for you. L.

I need to find a good soymilk, cuz I gotta have something in my coffee.
have you ever tried almond milk? it is much tastier than rice milk. hhmm, that doesn't really say much, does it. it is actually quite tasty, and I am not a non-milk milk drinker.
-
I posted a couple of pix from PPT up in Race Reports.
I have never tried Almond Milk. I love low fat, low sugar Soy milk (Silk Unsweetened is my favorite). Going to check out Trader Joe's after I sleep this afternoon.
OK! OK! I'm going to bed now! :p

Thanks CWR and Lise! There ARE a bunch of tri's in BR! Very cool (or hot - as the case may be). My coworkers are already claiming my stuff. Two of them are trying to claim my office and one has already claimed my computer. Who knew I had such desirable stuff?! And - they've already discussed who will get my technician. Yikes! I wonder what will happen when I actually get the offer? Good Lord!
-
mass chaos fish. always happens in the gov't no matter what.
-
speaking of mass chaos in the gov't. the stress level in my office has gone through the roof. we start eider (sea duck) banding this week and everyone is going crazy. there is so much more we have to do with the whole avian infuleza thing, testing and safety and bla bla bla. ok so it isn't bla bla bla its important stuff my my mind shut down in the meeting.
though my great easdropping skills just came in handy. they are going through who is going to do what during the actual drives and i get put on the hard jobs that need a light weight person. as one said in the meeting "shes light weight but strong as an ox." awe... i'm loved in my office. then they shut the door, so who knows what else they said about me.

I would like to order a blackberry pie...
-
my sons ate it all! they ate two pies last night. The one son's girlfriend had two large pieces herself. I am wondering why they are eating so much. (do they skip meals before they get to my house?)
I was thinking of going out and picking more berries today but DH won't have time until wednesday to make another pie.
on a more boring note, i am at work and it IS boring.
-
CWR--I love it! "Lightweight but strong as an ox!" That's great! :D
Mimi--they want to be close to you...so they eat all your food. How's that for an explanation? Tell them to knock it off, though, as your internet business is exploding, and those pies need to go out in the mail.
fish--if they start competing for your clothes, I'd be getting nervous. The technician's bad enough.
It's raining here. I just got up, slept about three hours. Planned to get in a run today, but it's either run in the chilly rain outside, or run on the treadmill with everybody else getting off work and going to the Y...so I'm going to do Eric Harr's strength training routine at home, instead. My favorite Triathlon Training in Four Hours a Week has a 40 minute routine that can be done at home or in the gym. I had let that slip in my quest for more miles, more miles in training. A rainy evening is a good time to get back in balance with the core/strength stuff.
-
Fish - I just think of that Tom Petty song when I think about your job thing" "The waiting is the hardest part...."
I am in the world's most dull deposition (waiting for my chance to ask some questions. Yawn.) At least it is in my office, and I have my wireless. And my diet pepsi.
Running/walking hurts by the way!! I am officially training for this silly marathon and did a 15 miler Saturday (in 3 hours - I was pleased, since I do mostly walk). That was my first official training run/walk - nothing like baptism by fire. Then we did a 10k trail run yesterday. I could not believe the amount of vertical. It was almost like a scramble at times. Did that in 1 1/2 hours, again not too bad. My friend would have finished faster (she will ALWAYS climb faster than me apparently, bike or running).
But my legs feel more sore than after ANY double I ever did - or even the 600k. After the 15 miler, I got into the car and almost cried because it hurt so much. (The thought of the Sharffenberger factory was the only thing that got me home.)
It's not like anything is INJURED (believe me, I have run 3 marathons and I know injury.) It's just soreness from my muscles not really being used to this yet. It will get better.

.
my husband is tired of the closeness! one of them is threatening to REALLY move out! that leaves my 27 year old duckling. Anyone looking for a cute boyfriend with no job and no car and two bikes? He's really good on the french horn. Photos on request!

Slugs
Yesterday our cat had a slug on his back. It's a perfect metaphor for his life. He is so fat and slow that a slug can climb up on him. He had slug slime trails all over his fur.
Duh!!
-
That's scary- they must have mistaken him for rotting vegetation! I need to get a picture of Fagalo and his slugs, but I'm sure that violates his policy of I can never look at him or he has to run away...
