well, at 5 degrees I would not be riding 22 miles to the opera and back on a bike!!

You went to the oprah?
Which one?
So, are you guys ready for Mr Obama's inauguration? I guess you ladies in Virginia/DC etc areas are going to encounter some interesting security in the next few days!
Will you still be able to go to work??
Though of course not everyone in the US is pro-Obama, I must say the mood seems hopeful and optimistic here in our little rural town in New York state.
Our local Welsh-style pub on Main St. will open during midday so townsfolk can gather together and watch the event on tv there, and also there will be a big community potluck celebration at the same pub that evening so everyone in town can bring food and continue the sense of community celebration. :)
DH and I look forward to it all!
we went to see Bizet's the Pearl Fishers.
And I have contracted some sort of sore throat thing. I could feel it coming on as early as saturday, but ignored it in hopes that it would go away.
Am I ready for the inauguration?
YES
Okay - so we are planning to get married in May in Hawaii and naturally are completed unorganised
Having done some internet research - after deciding Hawaii sounded like a good idea but knowing nothing about the place  it seems a that gigantic resorts are something of the norm. Does anybody know any small hotels/ appartments that will provide good quality accomodation, close to some local restaurants/amenities? we would prefer one of the smaller islands and are open to suggestions about which is the best island. Any advice/views welcome.
I've posted this on the Hawaii thread also in case there is anyone with local knpowledge who doesn't visit TD.
No local with sense would head down into the city, unless they lived in DC proper! It'll be madness with the crowds, and the weather here is cold w/a brutal windchill.
No work. We get the day off (I work in the exburbs, although I live 3 miles from the city, so I'll hit some of the "early departing" traffic, heading to Dulles airport on Wednesday am).
Pioneer Inn on Maui is right in the town of Lahaina. It's not super fancy, but I enjoyed my stay there.

Lots to do on Maui, or there are boat trips to Lanai or Molokai if you like (I love my day trip to Molokai)
Coolio Bruno!!!!
We won't be watching the inauguration live....it's on at 1am!!! :(
Congratulations Bruno!
Yes, congratulations to Bruno!!
If they make it to 25 years I'll say congratulations. For now I'll say best of luck.
What- me? Jaded?
