Come on Mimi, there's some very tasty vegan food out there. One tip I try to follow...never eat "faux" food, things like fake steak never taste like the real thing so I don't bother.

Mimi, I am going to drag you by force to Carmelita. YES, Seattle's totally gourmet vegetarian restaurant is being mentioned by me AGAIN. Bruno, you too. I don't want to hear about those disgusting chip butties, or buddies, or however it's spelled. We took some friends there for dinner last week, one of whom announced he was a "committed carnivore" and they all raved about the food. You need an adventure in vegetarian dining.
George Harrison.
Ugh. Think I'll go have a veggie sausage.
ahem. The chicken is for the cats. THEY are not vegetarians. And I ground up the whole entire chickens YESTERDAY. Today I had awesome Napolitano Pizza.
And I like vegetarian food too, but not FAKE food.
You can make great dishes without meat using beans, cheese, grains and thousands of awesome vegetables.
Yes, take us to Carmelita's and We won't tell D it's a vegetarian place.
:D:p
Zen, you're a funny girl.
I don't understand that fake stuff either. Oh, once every year or two I'll cop to buying a package of "meat"balls to throw into pasta or whatever. But not to, say, order a Gardenburger at Ruby Tuesday's or anything like that.
That said, we've been a couple of times to this restaurant in San Jose run by some religious group. Most of the menu is fake this and that, but it's all hand made and really very good. You just have to be enough of a vegetarian that you're not expecting it to taste too much like the meat/fish product it's supposed to mimic.
A friend of mine is a veg as are her husband and children, her husband requires "faux" food so she's gotten quite adept at making it...she shared some of her best fake roast beef with me recently and I just couldn't get it down, it just gagged me. I stick with lots of veggies, beans, potatoes, good breads, etc.
Yeah. My particular crazy is with them on that 200K. Whoof. I just don't think I'm ever going to want to do the randonneuring thing.
I plan to work on weaving a little, go to a Contemporary Quilt Art Association meeting, and do a bike workout. Although I would LOVE to just go back to bed.
Lisa, I wasn't really a traitor! I always loved the Beatles (all of them), but the feud between my mom and I with DC and Paul was just a fun thing. I had one of those Beatles' wigs! I have a picture of my 2 yr. old cousin wearing it with a very wild look in his eyes and me looking like I had just been dancing to "I Wanna Hold Your Hand."
My best friend went to the Beatles concert at Shea Stadium. I was so pissed her parents didn't invite me!

I didn't need a Beatle wig, I just cut my hair!
Robyn, I want to SEE that beatles wig picture!

On another subject altogether-
I always tell my DH about snowshoe outings I plan to go on, and there is one planned tomorrow since we are supposed to get between 4-8" of new snow tonight. :D He *never* wants to go on the snowshoe outings with me, even though there are extra snowshoes for him in the basement.
This morning he totally SHOCKED me by saying he wanted to go shopping for proper boots today so he could go shoeing with our group from the Land Conservancy tomorrow. I was so thrilled and delighted!
So today we went and he found some perfect boots for the purpose, also got some good gaiters. This is going to be so fun tomorrow!!
Tonight we are going to a fund raising dinner for our local Humane Society at a very nice local restaurant. We go every year- the food is great, and it's a very worthy cause. Lots of our friends from the village go, and we wind up sitting at the big tables with various people. Everyone squeezes in somehow, and a good time is had by all. :p
Lisa, no that's no Gibson. It's a really obscure brand, it was my father's guitar.
