I musta missed something with the PMs and censored stuff. As usual, I'm in my usual state of confusion. 'sokay though. Had a wonderful ride today with my sweetie and my dad's MRI shows no brain involvement. Woohoo!
We still have to deal with what's going in his abdomen. The cancer was above the diaphragm before so who knows. But for the moment, I'm rejoicing.

snap there were no bear encounters or any other wildlife encounters on the run today. all the bears are on the streams chowin down and i wasn't close to any of the streams. but when i do come across a bear you will be the first to know.

just got an email about my dad. he's still in the hospital and they tried to give him some meds to calm him down to sleep and he had a BAD reaction to it. his whole body went stiff and started drooling. came out of it about 24 hrs later. they put on his chart not to give it to him again, but they did the next night and doubled the dose! :eek: no matter what the gave him they coudn't get him to come out of it. now two days later he's still having seizures from it. if i was back in wi i would've strangled a few people for that one!

sk my stepmom (my mom died when i was 3 and my dad remarried when i was 6) is trying to stay with him as much as possible, but still has to get ready for school. (she's a 1 and 2 grade teacher)
i looked back at the email and the X med is called Haldol.
(edit: i just looked up haldol and am amazed they were giving it to him. i guess to calm him down. he's gotten really bad alzheimers that seems to be getting worse, quick. he's uncontrollably loosing his mind)
its more of jerking then compete seizures thankfully, but still its scary.

While I was on the phone with RM, I KILLED some roaches and fed them to the first toad to ever inhabit my yard!!! He loved eating their still-kicking little bodies!! Too bad I don't have a toad house. Previously, I captured him (later released) and tried to get him to sing on the phone for RM, but though he was vibrating in that way toads do, it must have been out of my hearing range...
Then I found a tiny anole asleep on the Mexican Petunias. While this might have been a perfect appetizer for Picky Snake, I left him asleep, since I love anoles as much as I love snakes.
I photographed both- but it was dark, so who knows.
Oh yeah. Remember in Lance's book It's Not About the Bike when he talks about the brain lesions? Big time serious stuff when it goes across the brain/blood barrier. Not to mention, the fewer sites involved the better but as I understand it there are two basic things you do not want - opposite sides of the diaphram and in the brain.Quote:

You know, I may build a toad house since I live here in Toad Tunnel Town. I swear I heard one a while back. I also dearly want a bat house. We had some living in the rafters above our front door. Oh! When I pulled in last night, I managed to find a newt (I'm not up on my amphibians, but I think it was a firebelly- coppery on top, didn't really look at his belly) sitting under DGF's car, looking up at me. Never saw 'em like that in WI, so it got exceptional amounts of attention and adoration. (probably as much as the fist-sized toads who love nothing more than to leak when picked up)
...God, I've got to go back to school. That wildlife bio major keeps laughing at me from the parallel universe where I actually *got* it.

Ranger at the Tuolomne campfire told the most amazing native american legend about how the bat came to be. Basically a squirrel who got all his fur burned off and was blinded trying to save the sun. Lovely story.
Oddly enough, we don't get toads/frogs in our yards, at least in our hood. Don't know why. Another thing I miss. Think I need a water feature in the garden to get them. I love them, and I love lizards too. Had to look up "anole" on the net--they look cool.
SK, how very nice to hear about your dad's test results. Know there are still problems but at least you and he got that big dose of relief.
CWR---I am sorry. That is hard stuff. Ugh, life is quite amazing in its range from fabulousness to ...pick your antonym.... Thank God for the fabulousness, though. Those little lizards and watermelon-eating cats and Bubbas and favorite-body-parts all go in the mix too.

Toad wanters: My toad just showed up one day, after I'd had my garden in for about a year - all organic, no sprays/poisons of any kind. Mine lived in the bottom of one of those self watering pots. (Which meant I could not fill it up and use the self watering feature, for fear of drowning the toad)
I just bought the most entertaining new shower cap. My old one gave up the ghost, elastically speaking, so I went looking for something new and different to keep my hair out of a bath. I got the apricot one. It's a hoot!

speaking of body parts, i took my mother out to adopt a cute new kitten to replace her dear old cat that died, and my mother says to me, your figure is better now that you're riding. Your legs look great and so does your butt!

so with all this impressive (cough) musculature, why are all of those muscles screaming after our wild 33 mile ride yesterday?
I think i just proved that it's a lot easier to ride 100 miles on THE BACK of a tandem than it is to ride 33 miles on the roadbike.
NOw, mind you, i was exhausted completely after the 100 miles (talking about day 1 of RSVP ) and completely wiped out;
but after my little 33 mile ride, i have sore muscles EVERYWHERE. Going down stairs is fun.
how can that be?
I wonder, Mimi, if the work you're doing on a Tandem is all the same aerobically but on a slightly lesser scale strength-wise, so while the long rides on the Tandem have done great stuff toning and improving your endurance, a shorter ride on a roadie (at the same speed you'd expect on a Tandem) has your muscles screaming "HEY! LUNGS! HEART! WAIT UP!!!!!" Just a thought. It's early and I haven't had my coffee.:D
