Finally reached the first of the summits. With the weather, I've been sticking close to home which means no hills and the only bumps are free bridges. At least I've made a little headway. Pitiful. 16,855 as of today.Quote:

I'm 1 of 5 doubles down. Basically I've got a double a month through September (except July, but that's Death Ride month). (Added that 600k, which wasn't a goal - can I make it a retrospective goal? :rolleyes: )
508 is looking good - may team up with a woman who's done it solo.
My Death Ride team is doing so-so. Some have not been able to do some of the rides, but I think they will make it. Many of them are doing the 200k this weekend and that wil be a good marker.
And Em and I had a great bike ride Sunday - started out a bit sketchy, but ended up super positive.
Slow and steady progress toward those goals....!

Well, I completed not only one 200k brevet, but the entire series. Still have left to go the Wickham Park Marathon goal, and the Crystal River Sprint Triathlon Series goal. My other A event of the season, besides the 600k Brevet, wasn't even coceived of when this thread originated-a 100 mile mountain Century. Um, that's this Saturday...(3 State 3 Mountain). I feel semi-confident. At least, no matter what happens, I'll be wearing cute Shimano sandals!b

My goals (2500-3000 miles and maybe a century) sound paltry compared to the stuff I am reading here! What is going on? I know you will say a goal is individual, blah, blah, but I feel like I already live most of my life around cycling (which is good), but I don't want to get obsessive, like I have with other activities. I want cycling to stay fun. Does anyone else out there feel this way?

One of the reasons I decided not to publish my own goals on this forum is that they are just that - my goals. I don't need the comparisons with anyone else's goals that are natural when you start reading through these entries. That said, publishing your goals on a public forum like this one can be good if it helps you to reach for those goals.Quote:

When you compare your miles with everyone else's on this forum, don't forget that you live in the cold and dark northeast. I don't think comparing your mileage with someone who lives in a place where the weather easily supports year-round cycling is a fair comparison. Don't be so hard on yourself.

1) Twice I tried to do Bike Against the Odds, not only did not do the metric century, barely completed the 20 and was tired. So riding farther on BATO is my true goal
2) To the top of Mt. Diablo for the cookies.
3) world peace for all and doggie belly rubs for my Mutt Mae and all TE dogs. :D
