I still want to come down. I won't know how much I'll be able to do--as far as the workouts go--until closer to the day, though. (Having lots of issues, assessing everything on a day-by-day basis.)

Come Dex!! you'll have fun and a lot of what we'll do wil be chatting about how to handle transitions etc. and form. All of which you can benefit from even if you don't workout. :)
KG - We'll get together on Fri July 25, evening, workouts on Sat and Sun. I imagine the group will start to break up Sunday afternoon so people can get back home and ready for work on Monday.
And about Sat evening. I forgot that a friend of mine (cyclist) is having a post Summit to Surf (big ride around here) party and we are all invited. So we could do that for dinner. I'll get more details. He's a sweety, previous Cat 1 rider and his wife is a doll. They live on a lovely farm with horses not to far away.
Yeah, Dex! We want you there.
Could someone just please tell me it'll be okay if I have to do a combo of freestyle and sidestroke through my 800 yard swim? I'm not sure I'm gonna get the freestyle breathing down well enough to do it the whole 800.
By the way, MM_QFC, I would LOVE to take you up on your Juanita Hill offer. And I'll be happy to wait till you're ready, because the less extra weight I have to take up that hill, the better. You are a doll for offering and I know damn well we'd have fun!
Salsa, YES it's ok. That is my uneducated feeling. I think it's ok to do whatever you have to do to finish. This coming from the person who did rest on buoys last year...but managed to swim the whole thing on my tri this past June :D
And Dex, it would be great if you could come.
Salsa - yes, it's fine you can do what ever stroke you want. In fact I have friends that will do a whole swim (sprint length) doing breast stroke.
FYI - I won't be on TE much over the next week. I've got guests at the house and then I'll be crewing for RAO on the weekend. I'm going to PM out some directions, hopefully before this weekend coming up, but if you don't get them, have no fear, I'll get them to you before next week. :D:D
I'm a very infrequent poster/lurker, but just wanted to say "thanks" for being part of "Athletes for a Cure"- my 43-yr old husband was diagnosed w/ prostate cancer in February (no family history or risk factors- he's an athlete himself!) and underwent surgery to remove the prostate last month. I'm happy to report that he's doing great! I raised money for AFAC by racing in IMAZ this past April- I think it's an awesome organization. Do you know someone that had/has PC?
Colleen V.
Interestingly enough.... I have only one rather far removed blood relative that has had prostate cancer and my FIL. But my family is riddled with lots of different types of cancer. Who I do know is the brain(s) behind Athletes for a Cure and they brought me into the fold. Since becoming involved with AFAC, I've learned a lot about prostate cancer and the organization and I can't think of anyone else I'd rather support at the moment. Thanks for the kind words.\ and thanks for helping AFAC.
Hey Salsa - you bet, I'd love to ride it with you...I am not 'cleared' to ride yet, but will assume that I can look forward to riding it with you before toooooo much longer...I'm planning on doing the Chuckanut ride too, in mid-September, but probably the 25 or 50 mile loop...right, Teigyr??
Hey everyone - have a blast with Wahine; you'll all be superwomen after a weekend being worked over - er, out! - by Yoda!
Tailwinds!
Mary
I will be sending directions to the house out on Tues. So far the plan is to send to Salsa, teigyr, jocelyn and dex. (sorry if I spelt anything wrong... I am extremely sleep deprived at the mo.
If anyone needs to be added to the list, PM me.
Hey, guys. Could everyone who's coming say so, so we can organize the driving part?
Knot, you sure you don't want to come as general advisor and all-around fun person?
I am going :D
Depending on what time we ride on saturday, I might be bikeless for the drive down Friday. If we're riding on or after noon, DH can bring my bike down Saturday. He's working late on friday night but can make it down by 12 Saturday. If that's the case, I'd like to (if I could) hitch a ride down with someone on friday so we're not taking two cars back home on Sunday. I can help pay for gas, of course.
DH also offered to carry anything down that would require a truck.
Oh, and DH is going (if that's still ok) but he won't get there until Saturday and will be driving himself.
Wahine, do you need anything?
Still want to go . . . still carless.
Salsa, are you still good for a ride? I'm MORE than happy to pay for gas.
Wish I could come but I'll be camping down in Osoyoos. Why don't you guys do a long ride up for a visit? :D
