Hi Dachshund! Like my avatar?!?!!! I, too, am a big fan of the short, smart, speedy, sleek, and loyal pup known as the dachshund! That is not a picture of my own dog, but one that snapdragen found me when I asked for avatar help. I just scanned some pictures of Schatzi, the 3/4 mini, 1/4 standard smooth coat black and tan dachshund, who graced us with her friendship for 19 years. She's with Orphan Annie, our English Setter, who came to us when Schatzi was 9 years old.
Argh--not enough time to fiddle with them this morning, but when I do get time, I'll post the pix. What about your doxies?

Absolutely! I noticed that picture right off. I have two, a red smooth named Chili, and a black and tan long-hair named Wilson. They're somewhere between mini and standard in size. They are just the sweetest companions. They're 9 and 7 years old, respectively.

Stella - I was interviewing there the year he was shot. It was all the talk at my HS as we had a LOT of students apply to Bates! (I went to HS in the Boston area). That particular Dean taught my favorite class freshman year...he was great! I'd totally forgotten about that whole incident!!

I love animals too. I have a bunch of cats, 2 bantam chickens, and a golden/collie who's 12 yrs old. Also I go to college p/t. History major. I love Doxies too.
Oh my Goodness! How adorable are your dogs, Dachshund!!!! Thanks for the links! I'm a dog lover in general and I'm sure people wonder about me when I run up and start talking baby talk to their dogs! Oh, and they are all 'puppies' even if they are 100 years old! :p

What's in your stable? Cannondale (aluminum) and Mongoose (titanium) road bikes, Cannondale TT bike, Cross bike, Santa Cruz Bullit, Singlespee, Cannondale Road Tandem (with another on the way to be built specifically for TT).

Most memorable moment on my bike: There are so many! This year, in late March, my husband and I decided to do a VERY early season attack on the NH notches. Started out coming down Crawford Notch, and then climbed the still seasonally closed Bear Notch. Had to clear some snow patches here, which was quite a challenge. Headed over the Kanc to Franconia Notch - this one involved 5 miles of snow covered bike path! :eek: At mile 63, this was not a lot of fun - there was swearing, crying, AND bike throwing! I managed to finish our 80 mile ride though, and was still smiling at the end.
Most fun ever had on a bike? Any time on my bike is a fun time! I use this as a social activity as much as a workout/stress reliever.
