I was gonna say, last weekend, did you know that if you wear light blue/light gray bike shorts, with no panties, you can see _everything_??? Nice...I spent hours staring at some girl's butt a week ago Saturday. TMI!!!! It showed through pink!!

Thanks Lise! She's at school! Wow! She walked in and immediately started playing and making new friends. She didn't hug us good-bye - just said "Bye Mom, Bye Dad, Bye Ben"...and that was it. Just thought I would let you American girls know that my sister-in-law just returned to Australia after visiting us here in the USA for three weeks. She couldnt get over how nice the people were here. She has traveled all over the world and did say she didnt have the best impression of Americans traveling but after being here in the States she couldnt say enough nice things about you all.
It unfortunate when a few create a bad image for the rest. Yep Australia sure has that problem too with the bad mouth beer swilling traveler.

I work about 10mi from home, but wouldn't bike there for my life. To get there, I'd have to go through neighborhoods I don't especially trust in the daytime. Drivers are terrible here, if they were ever officially licensed in this country, and/or have insurance :rolleyes: so if I ever DID get hit, I could put my money on it being a hit and run. so... no way. Even driving I get nervous, because I can't go home at night without seeing at least one cop car with his lights on.Quote:

cc sorry about the loud americans. any more i really don't have patience for them. when we went down to PI it was really nice. mostly aussies down there. i was about the only white girl, got many looks. i was worried they would think bad of me down there (don't really like americans), but i had this very old lady who was on the jeepny look across at me and just started chatting away like we were old friends. then whenever i was walking down the street all the lady's would catch my eye and smile and nodd at me. made me feel so good. i can't wait to go back this december!
fish both of your little ones are so adorable! i think jr's backpack is bigger than she is! how did you do with dropping her off? can't wait to hear of first day stories and all the fun she had.

btw snap good job with the points! i loved being on ww. it help me BIG time. now though, not so good. i have a hard time out here bc i can't get ww friendly stuff. so now i just try to watch what i eat and just work out more. the nice thing is i'm so much more active now than when i was on ww so i just stay the same weight, granted i could lose 5 lbs, but i keep it for warmth. http://www.smileypad.com/v224/Happy/Wink.gif

I talked to my hubby this afternoon - the little one is not handling a day without his big sis too well. He's been mopey all day. At least in the afternoon he takes his nap. When he wakes up, he'll be able to go pick up sis from school. Poor baby!

I don't know why it is that the loudest most objectionable amercans seem to wash up on foreign shores. I had a real eye opener after visiting the USA having been subjected to american tourists in Scotland. I couldn't believe how polite and helpful people were stateside.
As for Scots - just because we don't smile, it desn't mean we're not pleased to see you....we're just kind of understated.

I just got back from a 30 mile ride, during which I decided I wanted a liver sausage and egg sandwich. I recently found this "low fat" liversausage at the Jewel. I loved liver sausage as a kid--who knows why?! But it's so salty and tasty. One day I saw this Oscar Meyer reduced fat braunsweiger (same thing, to me), and bought it. YUM! So I just boiled some eggs and chopped them up with the remainder of the liver sausage. A little mayo to hold it all together, and some minced onion. Yumolicious. Isaac the cat ate a couple of bites, too. He's a big fan of the liver as a food group.
Lara bars are energy bars, along the lines of Clif bars. They are made of only nuts and dates plus flavorings. Very good, and not overly sweet. CC and I really like the Cocoa Mole. I *think* it's the same people that make Maya bars--all of the flavors are based on chocolate.

The Maya bars are good. I really liked the Chocolate Orange one when I first tasted it, so I bought a case when they went on sale. Now, for some reason, they taste like something you'd use to clean a car engine. As I am pretty cheap about somethings, I'll still eat them until they're gone. But I will not enjoy them. :rolleyes:
did you know odwalla now makes bars? i love their superfood drink, so considering i can't get that here i got the bar. not bad tasting at all. found them on drugstore.com

I must say that cutting back on the caffeine has helped with the irregular skipped heartbeats. So it's worth it. By next week, I will have cut out caffeinated coffee all together (sniff :( ). Probably still engage in the occasional diet Coke. I will miss caffeine. I love caffeine. But this feeling of my chest about to collapse on itself is most unpleasant. Decaffeinating does help. I am going for the echocardiogram tomorrow.

Berkeley, not far. Is that tall? His Mom's short but Dad's reasonably tall. And they both bike a bit so he's already got the "future cyclist" outfit from Terry from great Aunt :D

As for Americans, somehow travel seems to bring out the worst in them. I have met so many Aussies and New Zealnaders when they are taking their year abroad after college and they are always nice and respectful and willing to try new things. Americans just, I don't know, get scared and that act buffoonish in trying to hide their fear. DH and I were in Florence about a million years ago (well, a couple of years before the boys were born, which feels like a million years ago) and there was this guy berating the waitstaff because none of them spoke english. DH and I wanted to just melt into the wall.
They're cute - most of the time...
Lise - If I get the job, they said I could start at my earliest convenience. We're thinking Thanksgiving, but that feels long. We would need to sell our house and buy a new one, so that'll take at least a month or so. If they include extra relocation costs (buying my house), that'll speed things up significantly. I have lots to wrap up here at work, too. So - sometime in October or November.

As I started out on my last 30 mile ride before next Sunday's tri, I thought I'd strip the bike down to the bare essentials. I wouldn't carry all my keys, they wouldn't fit in the bento box with my phone and Clif blox anyway! I cleverly hid them in my storage locker in the basement, closed the door, and locked the padlock!!! :eek: OH NO MR. BILL!!! That's the padlock I *never* lock, it just sort of holds the door shut, didn't the slip of paper with the combination on it get lost long ago?!?!? Yes. Argh! Sloth never pays! I keep meaning to put another lock on there, one to which I know the combo! Our basement is so secure that I don't bother with actually locking the storage locker. My bikes are locked up separately.
Now I have a real problem. Hmmm. I scrounge around the basement and find a metal file. Use that to cut through the screening on the front of the locker. Reach in and get my keys. Go up to my apartment for my hammer and screwdriver. One more look around to make sure I don't have that combo anywhere. Nope. Back downstairs, pry the entire lock thing out of the wood door. Sigh heavily.
Go out on my ride. Have a great time.
Come home, go to Home Depot, buy wood putty and a new hasp for the door. Install it the wrong way (of course), take it off, reinstall it. Patch up the gouges in the wood door. This is when it pays to live in an old building. Easy to break into my own storage locker!
Make an appt to take The Green Hornet in for her pre-tri tune up. Decide to bite the bullet and clean my chain. For the first time. For some reason, it has intimidated me. Get it pretty darned clean, and wash down the whole bike. She's gleaming. Then I notice my poor, beloved Marin Larkspur, who's never once had her chain cleaned. I clean her up too. Everybody's clean, dry, lubed and locked up safe. My hands are filthy.
Oh, and I bought a rice cooker! Haven't used it yet.
Going for echocardiogram in the AM. Going to bed now. Sleep tight, TD!
