I went for a ride by myself this morning, after DH and I had breakfast in town. Beautiful sunny day, but only in the upper 40's now.
Now I'm working on my bike...pushed the seat back a 1/2 inch, and have been retaping & twining the bars and am now applying 3 coats of amber shellac on the cork tape. Eating some good French cheese between shellac coats drying... :) :)
LBTC- There are a ton of weeds in our yard to pull when you get done and have energy to spare!
Lisa- French cheese? You sound like DH, our store always has imported cheese samples and I have to drag him away.
Off to ride, the weather man was wrong and the predicated thunderstorms are nowhere in sight! :D

Between those I ate some Clif blox on a 25 mile ride with MimiTabby and her DS's DGF. chatted with some peace-supporters, might stand along the road with a placard with 'em next Saturday. Already planned out what my two placards will say: "I love my Navy family" (got a lot of family in the Navy) and "Our vets need better medical care" (cuz they do!!!)
Got a call from Trek, she says the Cindy is fun and she had a flat tire. Now they're at a lunch stop.
Yep. Like BMO3, I'm a big fan of GOOD cheese (note: does not include anything called "cheese food") ;) DH likes good cheese too, but he doesn't like the stronger or stinkier types- but oooh I like them ALL! We made a special trip to a gourmet cheese shop owned by a real Frenchman last month- he imports special cheeses and you can of course taste them before buying. TOO WONDERFUL! Afterwards, we make our special cheeses last a while, eating little portions every day like treats... :pQuote:

DH is an all cheese kind. Strong, stinky, whatever. I am not a cheese person. Except Queso.
Vicchysoisse was a spelling word of mine in 4th grade. My fabulous teacher liked to sneak words in like that, gosh she was amazing.
Knotted- Our new HEB Plus (grocery store) has an entire gluten free section. I thought of you when I saw it.
Vicchysoisse is done. I vote for the crumbly dry farmer's cheese, white wine, and pears.
Maybe I'll freeze some, so I can have it later with the cheese, wine, and pears. After payday.

Gee, Knot, now you've met my whole family! I felt bad today because I couldn't just hang back with you. Three is a slightly tough number of riders because there's always one out. But maybe I made some brownie points with my son because I kept Megan occupied while he went car hunting (unsuccessfully again).
I had leftovers for lunch AND dinner. now off to do some house chores :(
Oh tomorrow, we're doing a south end ride, if any Seattle folks are interested.
Knott - have you ever thought of changing careers to become a private GF chef. I'd hire you if I could afford you. Especially on IM years. I'd love to have someone cooking for me everyday. DH is not so adept in the kitchen I'm afraid and I'm too picky to let him learn by experience.
Ooh, an everyday chef? Can I get one too? You could help me re-introduce foods and figure out which ones are killers and which ones aren't. Wanna?

Aggie, you should see our yard. I don't have enough energy to take care of this, let alone someone else's yard!! Nope, didn't get on my bike, but DH took his new carbon fibre road bike around the block a few times. You should have seen his grin when he got home! :D I guess tomorrow we'll have to decide which bikes to take. I'm voting for mountain! That's where my heart really is.

Yesterday I drove up to Intervale, NH and got my feet measured for custom Limmer boots. I've been on the waiting list for 4 years, and now I'll have boots in 6-8 weeks! Though it will probably be 2-3 months after that before I can hike in them. After the boot fitting dh and I did a hike up a small mountain with nice views. Then we went to REI and spent some dividend money to get our 20% off. I got Crocs shoes with instep and heel straps that should work for stream crossings, and he got winter boots.

How exciting! You must feel really special. (I would if it was me. I got a day-pack custom made a few years ago and I felt just so amazing (and still do) knowing it was made for me to my specifications (retro 70's teardrop, no black, light coloured lining, simple and therefore flexible with no funny pockets designed especially for and so only fit one model of mobile phone... you get the idea)
