Hello Crazycanuc, and thank you for the welcome! This site has been a valuable source of info. I am going to have to make a post that thanks everyone for sharing their experiences and advice!

I don't ski. I am, however, learing to snowboard. I moved away from Co. when I was in junior high. It was only years later, as an adult, that I began to experiment with outdoor sports. Now that I am back in Co, I am taking advantage of all it has to offer, including the easy access to snowsports.

The things I know about Colorado? I don't know much other than the fact that there are seemingly endless miles to explore and I intend to see as much as possible, on a bike, in a car, and on my own two feet!

Explanation of your avatar: This is me at the start of a 2hour+ descent in Switzerland last year.

Age: still in my 30’s but only just!

Favorite bike: mine – Titus loco-moto, it's absolutely tiny and bright pink!

What's in your stable? The titus, a Juliana cushtail and a SS made up of leftovers that looks like a garden gate!

Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? I hate riding on the road – got about 32mph coming down the ‘no brakes’ trail in Verbier CH – got very scarey! But usually I am very slow, just plodding along enjoying the scenery – taking pictures

What is the biggest lie you've ever told:
Um, someone I know thinks I have a degree in English literature – he assumed and I didn’t correct him!

Most memorable moment on my bike:
Probably last year when I plucked up courage to go over a particulary rocky section where I had seen an accident previously – I cleared it, then fell off spectacularly 2 secs later! Also riding in snow (see avatar) I sang jingle bells even though it was August


Most fun ever had on a bike?
The first day of my holiday a couple of years ago with my husband and kids – watching my daughters (8 and 10) clear a trail that I had thought might take all week for them to master. The skies were a beautiful blue and scenery was amazing

What's in your stable? Fuji Finest (entry level), I named her Fiona

Fastest speed on a road bike? Where? When? 47.1 mph coming down Tumbleweed Hill on the Dam Loop in Austin, Texas. It was about two weeks ago. I was praying on that downhill!

Most memorable moment on my bike: The day DH and I rode 50 miles training for the MS150 and were drenched in a cool March rain for the back 20. We were covered in nasty dirt from the road and freezing when we made it home. I was officially declared a cyclist after that (I had only rode about 400 miles total before that day).

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: I told my husband I would go Mountain Biking again after cracking my tailbone on a trail about 2 years ago. I got rid of the mountain bike though!

Most fun ever had on a bike? MS150 2005. I never thought I would finish, let alone be hungry for more riding!

GM: custom Bill Bryant? Not familiar with that one - where are they built? I'm currently riding vintage bikes but when I decide to bite the bullet and get a new one - I"m seriously thinking custom is the way to go. Especially with Luna Cycles just 55 miles from me.

Polly: I was grinning ear to ear when I saw your name - my mom wanted to name me Polly So Bad she and my dad had a "discussion" over it. My dad won. Is Cannondale your final choice or did you go bike shipping and that was The One?

crazycanuck: Yep, cycling is the best! So. Cal has lots of hills, but I like to avoid them LOL!! Well, at least you eventually get to the top, but headwinds, that's a different story...

CorsairMac: I love my Bill Bryant bike. Bill is my bro-in-law and has built custom frames for friends and family mostly. I'm very short-waisted and have a very long inseam, so stock frames never fit and it was always a struggle trying to adjust stem and saddle height to get optimum riding position. At first glance it looks like a Terry cuz it has a 24" front wheel. For me, custom was the way to go. I had to moonlight to pay for it, but well worth the investment! I love vintage bikes too; very cool.

Fastest speed on a road bike? Where? When? 51.3 mph! downhill (in case you were wondering) down Bombing Range Rd in West Richland, Wa. Never Again.

Most memorable moment on my bike: Try to make it short - bad day, commuting to work, got a flat, 5 am cold out, no tire wrenches. Very nice elderly gentleman came out to help. What a disaster, he kept trying to hold my bike for me when I was trying to get the rear wheel off, then back on… Got going again, but we’d knocked the rear derailleur off-line and I did a header onto the hood of the car stopped at the stoplight to let me go by. Look on the driver’s face was priceless, she clearly didn’t know why I’d viciously attacked her car. Tried to call a friend to pick me up and drive me the rest of the way, then remembered she had a brand new Exterra, and I didn’t want to put my greasy bike in her new car. Started thinking about the old man and how pleasant and friendly he’d been and how nice to talk to, road the next 9 miles into work in perfect sunny day and had one of the best rides of my life - so glad my friend’s car was new, or I would have missed it.

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: I never lie. I don’t always tell the truth, but I don’t lie.

Most fun ever had on a bike? Recently, the “Cherry of a Ride” in The Dalles, Oregon. Small organized ride in its second year. Friendly people, beautiful scenery, and awesome dried cherries.

Picture of yourself or your ride? I don’t do pictures of myself. Maybe if I ever lose 30 lbs.

C- A&M stands for Agriculture and Mechanical. ;) I did finish the entire MS150 (Houston to Austin, TX) last year. We will be riding again this weekend!
