i can drink diet sodas, really like Diet Rite. BF can't he gets headaches too because of the aspartame but can drink diet rite because it has splenda in it.
Phoenix to Alaska?? Talk about a climate change!
Splenda kind of ooks me out. I think I just prefer good ol' sugar.
Ah, I knew I liked you......:rolleyes:Quote:

I made pork tenderloin, in jerk sauce, on the grill, and it was _perfect_. With onion roasted potatoes. With a bottom-shelf but still delicious Zin. I _did_ snuggle up to the expensive Ice Zin for a few minutes, though. Then put it back in the wine attic. I read on the Vineyard's website that that bottle I bought last night for $22 is MSRP $40. Should I go back and get the other bottle of it??? Or the 90 point-rated Orange Muscat for $14??? I love wine.
Tomorrow is my grandson's second birthday. I hate it that my daughter can't (won't) quit smoking. I had a pt this week who had tongue, larnyx and lung cancer, with breast mets. She likely won't live till her daughter's wedding in June. She's freakin' crying about it, right in the middle of her exam. I told Kelly about that, but of course, she's "trying." She can't quit when she has a child at home. Quitting gives her a headache. It makes her nauseous. (I pointed out that chemo would make her nauseous, too...) Whatever.
The Brooks just doesn't do anything for me. I borrowed my friend's Team Pro S (women-specific, which means obscenely short in the nose and pretty wide, too...) and I just didn't feel the love. So that's on the back burner and I am still pining away for the Terry Zero X.
I wish the bee job was in Florida.
Of course I have my long-lost friend (co-worker who has recently moved back to town after a 3 year absence.) She's wilder than ever. I just want to go home and go to bed. At bike (motorcycle) night last night, we set her up with a guy eight years her junior and ditched her. She pinched him in the nipple. I...let's just say, that she hasn't matured much in the last three years...(32)
Her six-year-old made a hula-hoop skirt for BF's beer, which he kindly put on it and took around and showed to everyone.
Austin Powers: Goldmember is on in the background. BF has gone to bed at 8:30.
Work today sucked- wait, need refill. I'm out of cheap Zin and on to BF's unattended Florida Muscadine Red. Very sweet. "Foxy," they call it. The only grape that actually smells like grape.
Man, was that perfect timing: I just caught Dr. Evil and Mini Me doing the music video "It's a Hard Luck Life." I am in love with Dr. Evil, and Scott Evil.
I can't wait to ride my bike tomorrow. We're starting at Conestoga's, the tiny-town steak restaurant, at 8Am, then returning after 40 or so miles for lunch. I love club rides that include a lunch. Otherwise, why bother??
I went psycho at my student yesterday. Not the perfect Napoleon Dynamite, but the next one. Josh. I wanted him to put away supplies, and he whines, "But I don't know where they go..." Well, josh, perhaps, if you did a little exploring in the rooms you are actually supposed to be working in, you might discover the mysteries of where stuff we use every day goes.
He was a lot better today. I even yelled his name once and made him jump. Some of them are perfect- like working with another tech. Others either take a lot of yelling at, or I just give up and let them go, and then, a year later, when they are applying for a job...
I won a major battle of wills at the hosp today. I'm not sure about how this affects pt care. Some service, say surgery or trauma, tries to push off a task on my radiologists that they could just as well do, up on the floor, with no radiation exposure. Because they are too lazy or scared or incompetent to do it themselves. Luckily, I threw a fit, a majot fit, in July, and my attending (permanently employed, not residents) radiogists backed me up on it. They come up with a million lame excuses, but the bottom line is, if you don't follow the protocol, you are wasting your/our time. So, while they are trying to bully us into doing the thing, (placing a feeding tube) they are _not_ doing it themselves. Their pt suffers. Sure, they could all come down to me. But- the nurses/interns are just being lazy, at the cost of a permanent radiation dose to the pt, not to mention me and the radiologist. Why are they like that??
Um, this might be enough thread drift for me for the moment- (wait, need refill of Vintner's Red)-
Mmm, it goes so well with crunchy peanut butter. I am so far off the diet wagon it isn't even funny.
I should have gone to school for being a plumber- that is what I -----------tested for, can't think of the word, what you'd be good at.
My kitchen sink leaks. I can't get the faucet tight enough. I can't get in there. My spare toilet leaks. My bathtub leaks in two places. My outside faucet had a bad frost plug, so it leaks. Oh, the second sink in the master bath leaks. WHY does it all LEAK???
Apptitude, that is the word I was looking for.
Beta, have you caught up yet?
Goodnight.
Here I was...
Nanci - love your mind wanderings. :)
And OMG you have a grandchild?!?! You do NOT look old enough to have grandchildren. Nov 18, 19?? (That's my youngest daughter's b-day too btw.)
I guess I could have some too, technically, (thankfully the girls are not considering having kids yet..) but I like to pretend I only have my 8 year old son and am still in my 30's... :)
I have not ridden my bike since the 100 k last saturday. Took me 3-4 days before I even felt like riding, but I've been a busy girl shovelling dirt, planting a couple hundred bucks worth of perennials, and building a lovely stone wall in my semi-finished backyard. We will spend the next two days hauling stone. At least O won't have to do my weights this weekend. :) I'm so glad the weather has cooled a bit - this would NOT be fun in 100+ temps...
I put on two batches of wine yesterday - one is a Cab Sauv which won't be drinkable for at least a year, and the other is a gwurtztraminer, however you spell that, which we can drink 6 weeks from now. I prefer "boughten" wine but it's nice to have the homebrew for back up. The cab sauv is actually really good.
Back to hauling rock...
I knew you were around here somewhere! ;) Nice drift!Quote:

Heh, heh, heh. I just won the bet. We're watching "Rooster Cogburn" and I told Bubba that had to be the Deschutes River in Bend, OR. A little googling and I proved my point. OK, not that he really dissputed it but he's the one that remembers all the movie trivia.
Snap, breathe . . . In . . . . . Out. Ok, what position?
Sounds impressive - Management Information Systems Analyst II.
And for those of you with high speed internet connections, I just saw this on my Yahoo page:
Dancing Skeleton
I need some action. DPITA is literally on the other side of the planet. This sucks.
Diet soda makes me sick to my stomach.
Beer is my friend. Wine is nice, but beer is friendlier.
I'm reading Greg Bear's "Darwin" books. Dang, I wish I'd stuck with my original plan to be a mad scientist. Mad healthcare worker doesn't cut it. Mad librarian might.
My nose ring insists on sitting in the front of my nose, intead of up the nasal passage. cool, if that's where it wants to be, so be it. But I've gotta get it rebent so it won't stick up above my skin. Folks keep saying my ring is coming out. (nope, stem is just too long for the way the hook likes to sit.)
Impressed my young pot-head neuveau-hippie neighbors tonight, as I was sitting on my porch in my rocking chair reading a Darwin book smoking a pipe and drinking a huge beer. One of 'em said I looked "very continental".
(don't look at me like that... I only smoke 3 or 4 times a year and my pipe tabacco is so old there's probably no nicotine left. yeah. Besides, it's better for me than the Dunhill red box cigarettes I used to smoke. I still dream about them...... sigh.)
I am here, I am here, I am heeerrrreee!
Nice to be missed.
Well. Let's see. First I was working for a living and being aggravated out of my skull by this one staff member my co-worker calls "la diablita"....then that was over, and I went to the Sox game!
Now, I'm a Cubs fan from way back. It's genetic. If anybody knows Chicago, you know you're either North or you're South side, you're either a Cubs or you're a Sox fan. For example, a t-shirt tonight said, "Friends don't let friends be Cubs fans". You get the point. I felt like a foreign exchange student.
However. Free tix, friends. Elvis night. OMG. I have been corrupted.
1. Parachuting Elvises from the sky during the National Anthem, AND after the game.
2. The Sox shut out the Tigers, 5-0. Great pitching.
3. Fireworks after every homerun. Fireworks at the end of the game.
4. Many Elvises, Elvis contests, and a really good Elvis "tribute" guy at the end.
5. An AMAZING fireworks show at the very end.
You don't get a show like that at Wrigley.
We took the El (public trans. train) down and back. Now it's 12:20, and I'm getting up at 6 AM to go run 7 miles with Jamie. Uuuuuggghhhhh...:o
Going to bed. Love to all, L.
PS, KN, I hear ya about needing the action thing. ;)
So with my rampant hijacking, it only figured I find 'thread drift' eventually... I just always wish I could engage in a real conversation with you ladies, so you could ask me what sign I am, and when I say "sagittarius" some nuevo-hippy could roll her eyes, say "Figures" and then explain to everyone else that Sagges can't sit down OR shut up. :D
Sometimes it's that way... sometimes it only feels that way. Oh, just ASK me how I know... I hear ya.Quote:

I still occasionally smoke Djarum Blacks... and for me, it's either dark beers, Hefeweizens or ciders.
Kelowna, you _make_ Gewurztraminer??? That's BF's fav white, and my second fav after Pinot Gris...
Kitsune, I thought you were here already.
Snap, good luck. Where I work, it could take months to find out if you have a new position, kind of like Fish's Bee Doc position. I rarely have to move around, fortunately. I love my position- just not all the lunch stealers and little babies (the adult ones) I work with.
The first time I took DD to see fireworks, she was about three or so, Fourth of July, and she says, "Mom, can we go tomorrow night?" Like it happened every night, and I'd just not been letting her in on it...
The first time she went trick or treating, I guess about two? (We lived in an apartment she called Butterfly House because I'd hatched out some Monarchs for her) she went into the first house and sat down on their couch like she was planning on staying the evening! No, honey, we just go door to door and hit as many houses as we can!!!
My coffee is _finally_ done.
LIse, thanks for being my cliff blok, lara/may bar dealer....I've always wanted a dealer..in a good way..
Fish-would you like me to send you some TimTams for you to share in SF with the other TE ladies???
We went mtn biking today and saw only one soul. Seemed like a nice gent-we met him at the top of Mt Gungin-he'd just biked up (read:uphill) the little oven circuit without a bike seat  as part of his broke...(i'm probably getting a few  looks when i talk about our trails here but i think it's easier than saying "up a certain hill & down a certain area..") Luckily for him he's going to be a father quite soon!!!
I would class him in the fit nutter brigade...he's done the 24hr in NSW three years in a row SOLO..
Great weather for a bike ride-rainy & muddy...
Anywho, KY-how long is DPITA away for??? Ya know, i do like the smell of a pipe..It's not that weird dear!
I haven't had any soft drink (pop to you girls up north...) and fast food (say from mc dork's or pretty much any place really) for about 5yrs now.
I would love tell you Ian's "pop" and "kitty corner" stories from Kelowna but i don't want to bore you...
:) c
Ooh that might be nice! What are you craving from the US? I'll PM you my address :)Quote:

It's raining today! That's not so good because I was going to ride this morning. However - it's a steady rain (since last night - nice thunder last night) which we desperately need! Gee, how wonderful... now we get to clean the house. Oh what joy that will bring..........not. I'll just have to check in with TD :)
Nanci - I had a similar experience with FishJr last July4th (2005). It's great to see the wonder in their eyes when they see the fireworks, isn't it?
Snap - Good luck with the job application! I'll be thinking good wishes for both of us :D
Gosh - I missed a lot of activity last night.....
Nanci sorry about the DD smoking thing. That's gotta suck. Tell her she can also get PEs if she smokes. (I don't but they're one of the risk factors....) Then she'[d have to join Team Embolism.)
Snap - good luck with the job app!!
Lise - a Sox game?? How sporty!! It does sound like it was an amazing show.
Well, gang, in a couple of hours I am OUTTA here. We're going to Yosemite for the week, and I won't have access to anything which will allow commuication with the outside world. Probably a good thing. But tell my office that...
I didn't want you guys thinking my PEs had exploded or anything. Rumors of my death....
Fish-I'd love a pic of haight & ashbury in SF (that's where the hippy rev started in the 60's yes??)...Peanut butter M & M's...
I'm happy to send you tim tams to share...
Speaking of junk food-Ian eats KFC, m &m's, coke, v, etc & is healthier than I am!!! I don't get it...
Cleaning house...we must do that this weekend...after we bike....:(
Hey does anyone here use MSN messenger?? If you do, catch up with me...mscherylpr@hotmail.com...It would be really cool...
c
Knotted, question: why not take some vacation time and go see DPITA?
And Lise & KN I get the need to get thing. The things you learn from a workout log/journal. It's been 3 years since the Ex-PITA dumped me. 8-(
A lot has happened since then, thanks for all the support TE & TD.
Yes, TE there've been dates, more than probably the previous 47 years (which is not saying much). I'd date more but then I'd have to clean the house, which would cut into bike time ....
Snap, that sounds impressive! Inhale .... exhale ... repeat as often as needed.
CC, I use yahoo IM, Microsoft is giving me grief. It was working but now demands I download a new version each time which it promptly won't load ....
Trek - saving up all my vacation time for moving her back here in December. (when she'll only be on the other side of the continent instead of the other side of the planet)
'course, that means I'm gonna have to clean the house some time in the next 4 months....
Need to get one of those spiffy Michaelangelo wall bike racks.
I should probably vacuum the floor and wash the dishes, too; but the bikes have priority! :D
Hey, Harda$$ Cutie Pie! Welcome to Thread Drift Land!
Dear Pain in the A$$?
V.
yup, that's DPITA!
Hey, for Fish's sign at the airport hold up a card that says "Thread Drift"!
("Team Danger" might scare the National Guardsmen doing airport security detail.)
I get home at 2am. Next thing I know, DPITA is getting ready to head out the door and the phone's ringing. It's 6. The call is from my parents regarding my car accident and the fact that my insurance company left me to the wolves, having me deal with the other company *myself*. ...aren't they supposed to go to bat for you?
We all chat for an hour... Mom calls me Cutie-Pie and I ask her suspiciously if she's heard anyone else refer to me as such... she says 'no' so I have to tell her about you ladies. She's laughing all over again.
I'm goin' back to bed, but I'll be back to harass y'all at a decent hour. (in the pm)
I'll be on official gov't travel - Team Danger may not be the best plan.Quote:

Can't actually get it until December, cuz it's in Michigan. I'll pick it up when I'm in the midwest around Christmas.
(wanna see it? it's in the "for Sale" thread. I'll try to post a link)

Poor Lise - all those fireworks, and no action :(Quote:

CC - I have MSN - I added you. I've been using Skype lately so I can chat with my DD who just moved to Vancouver. :( :( It's a very cool program.
You can find out what funny accents all these Americans have. 'Course you probably have one too since you live down there. Mine, of course, is completely normal, eh.. Just don't ask me to say "about"
Nanci - This is our first batch of gewurztraminer. I'll let you know how it turns out. The good thing is DH will drink anything so if I don't like it, I get the good stuff from the liquor store and he drinks the home brew. That being said, we don't actually "home" brew - we make it at a Wine Shop. That means, I go in and order it, and 6-8 weeks later, we spend an hour bottling it. It costs about 1/3 of store bought wine.
Sorry that your daughter smokes - darn kids are always a worry, even when they are adults. My DD's will be 21 and 23 this fall. They are being good, for now, but one of them put me thru hell during her teens... I'm a lttle worried about the 20 year old who just moved to the big city with her boyfriend. She's got a good head on her shoulders so I think she'll be ok...
Housework - must do some today. You can always tell when I've been spending my time outside - this week it is landscaping. Oldest DD politely suggested I vacuum yesterday. I politely suggested that she lives here too (rent free!!!!) and is welcome to do it herself. She said they are not her dogs (dog hair-the reason we need to vacuum). Her little brother, bless his heart, asked her if she could please clean up her hair in bathroom because it clogs up the sink and tub drains.
I need to ride my bike but the allen blocks are calling....
Think we should tell the water cooler girl about Thread Drift?
That would be the polite thing to do ;)
Or do the usual TD thing of kvetch here about other threads, like the no caps thread...
No, we don't need WaterCooler boy in thread drift. He's being icky. We don't need little stories about some dude masterbating a dog.
If that thread stays, after my sig in support of equal rights got in trouble, I'll be mighty appalled.
yikes, I didn't actually read the story. Went back again to check it out. My skin is crawling...
I hit the spam alert. Ick. We don't need boys playing testosterone games here.
Meanwhile, back to happily humming over my new Waterford bike. Already thinking of names for her... (yup, I'm silly)
You think it's a guy posting? It looks like a girl's picture and s/he started the "Who started you on biking" thread as well... Regardless, it's gross...
