(and that evil one that thomson keeps talking about at mile 97! AAAAAAAGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!) but i digress!
i predict.. that you will be done with the ride in about 9 hours! that INCLUDES your stops (unless you stop for looooooong periods of time at the rest stops!
i don't know how much i'll be smilin' before the ride... cuz i KNOW what i'm getting myself into this year!
I am hoping to be in and out of the rest stops too.
From what I am hearing that is the best way to do it, not to spend too much time at the rest stops.
Is this right?
i can ONLY speak for ME... and yes... i much prefer to get in and out... i do NOT like long long rest stops! my longest stop is usually lunch cuz it takes a few extra minutes to eat a sandwich!Quote:

you need to do what works for you... i can't tell you quick stops or long stops... only you can decide what works best for you!
(how's that for a non-committed answer!)
Well, see????? We'll be done about the same time!!! :pQuote:

you're so silly! you have to read what i actually wrote! it took me 9:23 RIDE time.... i expect you do do your's in that TOTAL time!Quote:

Have fun, and ride lots for me!!!!
Jana
Ohh Jana!!
So sorry to hear about the crash!!
Best wishes for a speedy recovery!!
Heal up quick!
Let us know when you are back...
Karen :)
Hi Girls!
Well the Cool breeze is one week away!
Are we still planning on meeting at the registration area around 6:15 am??
I heard that it gets crazy in the morning, so plan on getting there early!!
I am nervous, kind of!
Look for me, the redhead w/ the silver/pink bike....
Tracy, have your cell phone on, I plan on calling you early :)
Brandy, Cali, Pam, whomever else is driving up in the morning, give yourself
lots of extra time!
See you all there!!
Karen
Jana, We will miss you!
OUCH! I just saw this Jana. I hope that you heal quickly!! If you're looking to sell your registration, there are a few people at Bike Forums who are looking to buy. I could get you in touch with them.Quote:

my first ever century i did in 8 hours (and i'm not fast... not sandbagging either).... it had about 8 sag stops and lunch was WAY crowded.... and i still managed to eek out 8 hours riding alone for the most part! the elevation on my first century and this one is about the same! so you ALL would be safe in leaving when the iciness (61 degrees! EEK!) of the morning wore off a bit... say 7 a.m..... you'd all finish by about 3!
however.... that's just my opinion.... and you know what they say about opinons... what they are like and that we all have them! http://www.smileycons.com/img/emotions/89.gif
i'm sure you'll all be gone after the ride by the time i get in.... if you are starting that early! hopefully some peeps will start later and i can see you at the bar b q after the ride!
but most important.... have a good time!!!!!!!!!! and enjoy the ride!!!!!!!!!!
How long do you think CB will take you caligurl? While I would like to start as early as possible, I'm riding up with chimivee and voltman from BF, and I know that they both hate early mornings! :p We haven't agreed on a departure time from OC yet.
last year it took me 9 hours 23 minutes RIDE time.... they have a lot of rest stops... so add at least an hour if not 1.5 depending on how long the pottie lines are! and that ups it to about 11 hours total time give or take (i won't be surprised if it takes me longer than 11... i really wish i could remember total time from last year! that's what's nice about the edge.... i get both!)
Well, if my body doesn't ride itself of this lingering cold, I may be riding at a snail's pace. I was so beat during and after our 40 miler yesterday. I was crawling up Newport Coast. :(
you'll be fine! just take it easy this week!!!
You didn't look too well in that photo chimivee took of you yesterday. Hope you feel better by mid week, otherwise I'm gonna have to revise my bet on your time of completion to 15 hours!...:pQuote:

Gee thanks! I'm just kidding...I was hurting yesterday. I couldn't take a deep breath to save my life and when you're climbing, that's a nice luxury...lol! Every picture taken of me yesterday is horrid and now they're plastered all over Bike Forums. Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!Quote:

Hey So-Cal gals....
Just wanted to chime in and say that I've been signed up for the CoolBreeze for a while, but wasn't sure if logistics would swing favorably to allow me to actually do it. This just sounded like an awesome-enough ride to make the drive worth it. I actually wanted to do it last year, but that didn't happen.
As the Gods have apparently all smiled at the same time, it looks like a go! I haven't made any hotel reservations yet, but will be staying the night and even plan to make the pasta dinner the night before (I'm gettin' my grub on...).
I've signed up for the full 100, but being that I haven't ridden for over a week, I have no idea how I'll feel....I'm confident I can make 70 miles and can do the elevation gain, but after that remains to be experienced. Also, strangely, I've never actually ridden 100 miles in one shot.
Anyway, if you see a black Fuji carbon with yellow/fuschia/purple handlebar tape (temporary until I can find some bar tape I like better), and tall gal astride with a pink (cranberry, officially) Giro helmet, probably with a ponytail out the back, that's me......call me BikeMomma or Kim, I'll answer to both. :p
Hope to bump into a few of ya! :D :)

I have long red hair......Can't miss me!!
Karen
Hey Kim!!!!
Glad you're gonna be able to make it! I would love to meet you... let us know where you end up staying Friday... I'm going to be at the holiday inn express at Ventura Harbor and plan on picking up all my stuff Friday night.
I also plan on being on the road by 6:30 so if you are starting early, look for me... I'll most likely have my black windbreaker on w/a dark grey/silver helmet and I'm riding a black roubaix comp with yellowish bar tape (its the most distinctive thing on my bike ;) )... I also have a topeak handlebar bag that's pretty easy to spot...
I'll watch for you in the morning!
Tracy

Kim - Karen is pretty easy to spot, tall and thin and really pretty with long red hair and freckles... very cute!
Can't wait to see everyone!

I'll keep an eye out for you bikemomma!
Don't know if anyone here is interested in doing this, but the Bike Forums people are putting red stars on their numbers so we can identify eachother. So...I'll be on the white Trek 1000 with a red star!
Thanks Tracy. I backed out of the Spinning DVD shoot and I'm laying (lying??) low this week. Well...with the exception of my friend's 30th birthday party on Wednesday night that I can go to now that I'm not doing the DVD shoot. Party hopper bus from here in OC up to Malibu. Yikes! I'm bringing Avery along with me, so I'll be a good girl. :cool:Quote:

How are you feeling today? I bet you'll be just fine by Saturday... just make sure you are getting enough sleep and not over doing it!
I'm glad you're bringing Avery w/you... that'll keep ya outa trouble!

I'm still sniffly. I can't believe how this is lingering! James said he was glad that I was taking Avery too...for that exact reason. :DQuote:

Vic: I was thinking of putting something on my number to ID myself as a TE member - like my name BCIpam & TE in the right hand corner. I know the bikeforum group is doing this and sounds like a good idea.
In addition a good place to meet - if you go to the webpage for the ride - there is a photo showing some tables with umbrella - this is right at the ride start (and more important close to the restrooms) so we can probably all at least jog over there at 6:15 to see who's there and ready to go. I'm going up the night before and checking in Friday so won't be standing in the checkin line that morning.
Anyway the plan is to still leave around 6:30 (so early!!). It would be nice for us to at least get a nice start out together before everyone finds their own speed and pace. The route from the school is a nice down hill bike path down to the beach. Once at the beach and on the main bike path riders will tend to break up but at least we can get 3 miles or so together.

LOL - mate if anyone can breeze up it it will be you. Whenever I see rides with lots of climbing I think of you and V. I on the other hand cringe and hide.Quote:

Hi girls, I plan on seeing you all at CB as well. I will only be doing the metric though. Have had major stuff going on at work lately and so very little riding. In fact, my total milage for the entire month of August is 60 miles!! (Wait ... so does that mean if I ride a metric on Saturday, I can say I did a "double metric"?) Anyway, I look forward to seeing all of you.
