153 on the knot. I picked up my bike and a water bottle for the winner at the bike shop today!!!
Ended up right back were I started 139.5, but body fat is 32%, down just a bit.
I've realy been under a lot of stress this last few weeks. Have to admit, I really wasn't watching what I was eating or anything else.
K
163.0, my starting point, also. One water bottle coming up!:D
Well, I am going to put things in perspective first...
Last Saturday, I got hit by a car!
I am lucky that I am alive. An elderly person stepped on the gas instead of the brake while parking her handicapped van and it came flying up onto the sidewalk and hit me where I was standing. The only reason that I wasn't killed right there on the spot is that it also slammed into a cement pole that stopped it in its tracks.
Therefore, I ended up with only a glancing blow - some minor injuries and I have spent the week recuperating in bed. One broken bone and some very serious bruising all over my body. I am looking at the whole event positively since I know what the outcome could have been.
This just reinforces that I need to appreciate each day that I have on this earth because I never know when it will be my last! I am so grateful that I am still here that I can't stop crying. I'm tearing up just writing this post.
So, ladies, I send you my love and best wishes and also am hoping that you are living the best life that you can!
My weight today was 142.1. All in all, I am VERY happy that I am here to send out my water bottle.
So, who won?
Lynette
P.S. Here is a picture of my arm...
WOW!! SO glad you are going to be OK!
Lynette! Whoa! I'm shocked and so so glad you're ok. I hope you are feeling much better and the broken bone and bruising heals soon. I'll send some healing vibes your way. And I hope the elderly person can find other modes or transportation after this and stay out of the car.
Wow Lynette, that looks just awful!!! I am SO glad to hear that you are ok and I can only imagine the emotions you must go through. Kinda puts the whole "stressing about weight-loss" thing into perspective doesn't it? Take care of yourself and keep us posted on your recovery. {{{{{Lynette}}}}}
Sending healing thoughts your way, Lynette. I agree this and other things help put many things in perspective. I was actually going to post my "story" from this weekend on the trail. It is not as drastic as being hit by a car, but it did put things in perspective for me.
My riding buddy and I were stopped on this great trail (part of the rails to trail system) doing a minor seat adjustment. An older gentleman on a recumbant stopped to chat. He asked how fast we were going and when we said only 16 mph, he was in awe and felt that was fast. He remarked at our bikes, asked lots of questions. He expresssed "wow" of the distance we had rode the day before and the planned mileage. He was "impressed" by our previous accomplishments (an MS 150 in Colorado) and our plans for this year (another MS 150 , bike ride across florida). Remarked how strong we looked. He, himself, was going thru an "herbal detox" since he didn't want to "go under the knife, do radiation, or chemo". He rode 75 miles the day before. Was feeling great.
As we parted I felt really good about myself. I always want to get faster, leaner, stronger. But I took what he said and worked hard to take in deep inside and feel good about myself, my accomplishments and goals. Who knows how much longer he (or I) get to ride. One day it can all be gone.
Now do I still want to train more...yes. I wake on yet another Monday to "watch what I eat", get on the bike more during the week, strength train, etc. Which is ok, all this is good. But the end result is that I enjoy my time on the bike, my time OFF the bike, and try hard to enjoy something each day. Because...to sound morbid...it could be my last. So I rememer the trail yesterday, it was a beautiful day and a great gentleman that shared wisdom without evening know it! Now I can make it thru my Monday!:)
Again, sending good vibes to Lynette!
Oh, Lynette, thank God, literally, that you are alive!
I can only imagine the new perspective that you have on each day. Are you in much pain? Is there anything we can do to help you along with the healing process? Chocolate?? Wait, this is the WEIGHT loss thread, sorry :o
Truly, I am glad that you are fine. Have you had any contact with the elderly driver? How is this person doing? How are you dealing with your feelings toward the driver? Okay, I hope.
Let me know if there is anything that I can do.
As soon as we have the spread sheet I will contact the winner for her address and pm everyone with the details on where to send the water bottles.
Mine is hiding and waiting to be sent off. I had to rescue it from a 7 year old with a picture of kool-aid. She thought she was going to filler up and have a swig......... I got there before the lid even came off...whew..........
Anyhow I think GLC is or was out of town. Patience young grasshoppers!!
And, Cyclasutra - YOU ROCK!!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations and keep up the good work.
Are we going to do a WLC #3?
I like having to weigh-in on Fridays. It keeps me accountable. Even when I sloth-off for a week or two, I'm encouraged reading about everyone's successes.
I would like to do one, but is there someone else willing to host the next one? I will be out of town a lot the next two months...............
OK... What does it require? I can do ALMOST anything! Tell me what is needed and I'll step up for a bit. I may need help on the charts and stuff, as I'm not sure how to get one in here, but I can work on it.
I would LOVE to still check in on Fridays. If it's a competition, okay, better yet!
Congrats to all so far!
I love you guys! :D
Thanks for all of the encouraging words and get well wishes. I am doing better every day.
I did my first therapeutic swim in a heated pool on Sunday (a balmy 91 degrees). It felt great. Tomorrow I go for my first massage therapy session. I think that it will hurt a bit, but it will definitely get my circulation going. Thursday is swimming again.
I am definitely up for continuing with this weight loss thread. Thanks, Jesvetmed, for stepping up to the plate and volunteering to be our fearless leader.
Katluvr - I found your post inspirational. Thank you.
On the road to recovery,
Lynette
Go get 'em Lynette. Our thoughts are with you.
Really, you just start a new challenge post. You can decide to do a challenge for a certain number of pounds or just do a "who won the most pounds" challenge. Once you start the challenge, everyone will let you know what they want. It sounds like a Friday weigh in is preferred. You don't necessarily need a chart, but it sure helps. Thanks for your help!
Hey all!
Sorry for the delay on this....we are preparing for a move across the country and things are a bit crazy! I actually had to find a new place to host my photos because we are about to take down our server where I keep all my photos (including this chart). We'll get it up and running again once our stuff gets to Oregon sometime in mid-March!
Funny thing is...that's when I'll get my scale back too...so my final weigh in is a kind of a guess. We were travelling all last week and got home super late on Sunday night. Monday's weight was horrendous, so I'm guessing that my true weight is about 165 right now...not pretty. Glad to see that doing the chart is no guarantee of weight loss, huh? :p
Anyway, and the winner is....

...a bit undetermined! Cyclasutra is the biggest loser with 5.7% of her starting body weight lost. But as she did the 'no reward challenge', the top 'reward challenge' participant is PinkBike having lost 5% of her starting weight. Now, since she has not yet posted her weight for the final week, I don't know if that still holds true. So basically, if PinkBike can verify her loss, then she wins. If not, then the next highest 'reward challenge' participant is Brok with 2.78% of her starting weight lost.
Flybye, I would think that as coordinator, it's your call. :)
I've got my water bottle set aside so that the movers don't pack it away.
Great job everyone! Once I get my scale back, I'd like to participate again...and this time, I promise more focus and more weight lost.
Lastly, Lynette - I'm glad that you are on the mend. That sounds like a horrifying experience and I'm so thankful that it wasn't worse!
Lynette - I'm sending all the healing vibes I can muster your way!!!
Great job everyone!
I ended on a high note with my last weigh in being 117.5, but I really did not eat well the last few weeks (vacation and then an everlasting birthday that brought about yummy baked goods all week, of course I couldn't turn down those lovely baked goods:p).
I'm in for an additional challenge!
I sent a pm to pinkbike.............. anyone know where in cyberspace she is??
i'm back i'm back!
138.4

Good job to Brok, who came in second and to CyclaSutra, who rocked on the no reward challenge.
If you didn't get your PM or I sent one to someone mistakenly, let me know. Thanks guys and good luck on the next round! NO PUN intended - round, what was I thinking??
PS - NOT a good idea to fill PinkBikes water bottle with M&M's before shipping it off. Mental note to self :D:D;)
