Thread Drift

You drifters crack me up. I am a lurker because I can't keep up. :D This week is slow at work, I am actually caught up on the drift.

Knot- I have no advice on growth spurts, but I second Kohl's. My brother and FIL are ridiculously hard to find sizes and we usually find them at Kohl's.

Xeney- Congratulations and best luck with the pregnancy. I wonder what to expect when I am pregnant one day, since I am not pregnant and need a nap a day.:eek: I have been known to nap in my car at lunch. I love my naps!

CWR- I am not sure what it means but I have a Myspace page. It is the only way some of my friends will answer me, traditional email doesn't work for them.:rolleyes:

I'm about ready to spaz out at the next landlord who tells me that they have received a (1) application on an apartment that I'm looking for/at and that it's pending right now. GRR. Why must I ALWAYS be behind on this sh*t?! RRRRAAAAARRRGH!

Wow, I just scored on after Christmas shopping for my son! Toys, clothes and a few car gadgets for mom - yeah! Now. Put the cc away and do NOT use it! This boy is set for gifts for Valentines Day, Easter basket and birthday:D

Aggie and CWR - you'll have to check Mimi's post about a refernce to X and a myspace page. Just playing off that, nothing bad.

Got a little more snow today. Still wet heavy stuff. Guess I'll be shoveling tonight. You guys need to quit talking about naps. I am REALLY tired right now. But then, I don't feel good. Yucky stomach thang. Good thing I already promised my son he could have his favorite meal for supper: ramen noodles, pb&j sandwich, and raw carrots and dip. He could eat that all week...

My poor little guy has been sick with a sore throat, bad cough, and fever since Christmas night. He slept until noon today and is still just laying on the couch. As bad as I feel for him, I am also secretly enjoying the peace and quiet. Bad mommy.... :rolleyes:

Me? I'm happy with my leather, but piercings, steel and big engines make me giddy, too. *sigh* :rolleyes: I tell ya, half the time I feel like I'm a biker on the wrong sorta bike. So to speak.

But I can't go making Miz Cakes feel insecure. She's got all the engine she needs. :D

I'm going to end up deleting all this I know it. :D I try not to get frustrated, but I do. Grr. Apartment managers!

well, Kit as for what kind of bike you really ought to be on, just look at the MOTORCYCLE bikers who are my age. Do you want to look like them or like us? The kind of bike you ride is going to keep your girlish/boyish figure a girlish/boyish figure . The other bike?? it's going to help you get bigger and bigger and bigger.

Naps are a wonderful thing. I embrace naps. As a matter of fact, I think I am do for one. :)

I sure am. Another hour and a half and I'm there. I really feel like hurling - I'm not sure if it's the flu or the butt fetish talk though;) .

The chills and aches are starting to set in. Knot, I need some chicken soup please....If I don't make it back in to work tomorrow have a Happy New Year everyone!!

Oh, I appreciate my cycling, really. :) But cycling is not conducive to chaps etc. And it just looks wrong to wear my biker jacket on my er.... bike. ;)

I hate to say it, but it's generally biker guys who are... uh... less eye-friendly.

Oh... 'ya saw it here first' once I get the carbs rebuilt on my '80 Honda CB650, I'm going to sell it. If you feel lucky, and are unafraid of a machine that's had my greasy paws on/in it...

It's true. Active cyclists, both men AND women, tend to look mean and lean after 40, whereas men AND women bikers over 40 seem in general to have large amounts of flab and pot bellies, etc. It gets worse in their 50's. I think it's all the beer.
My DH's brother is into motorcycles now- he sent us a website with photos of a large gathering of bikers he went to...all very friendly people mind you, a big "brotherhood" all having fun... but all the men and women were guzzling beer in every single picture, and almost everyone over 40 had major fat rolls (or else they looked scary-skinny and sickly). No one looked healthy except the 20 year olds- but when you're 20 it's easy to look healthy. ;) When you look at photos of bicyclist gatherings, it usually looks like a completely different scene altogether.
This is a generalization of course, but "most" bikers I see older than 40 look pretty flabby and in nowhere NEAR as in good shape as cyclists over 40.

It's all about minding how you live. I have a strong feeling that if you're careful about what you do, such generalizations are meaningless- the general public fits your description. It's like arguing that I shouldn't drive my car because it's being sedentary. :rolleyes:
That's like saying all cyclists are whip-thin, wiry power plants with rippling calves of steel and thighs that kill well into their 50s... It's just not true. It's purely dependent on one's lifestyle. Yes, it's a different scene, but depending on my mood, sometimes the biker crowd suits more. Maybe I'd rather discuss the ins and outs and benefits of a DOHC vs. a SOHC... valve clearance or rejetting instead of how my clips are clipping or whether or not my shimano suits me better than your campy; whether my underarmor is better than wool...
But thanks, and I'll bear in mind that doing my SOMA job and then using a SOMA method of transportation may make me gain weight.
