He does want me to take the sling off and hang the arm down straight, while bent over, so the arm is slightly away from the body, 3 times a day. When he first asked me to do it, I was terrified. I will ask about elbow extensions as well. Thanks!

If you're allowed to do the above, you should be allowed to do the elbow extensions but double check because part of the triceps muscle attaches to the scapula and depending on where all your bits are, you might not want to do it. Having said that, if you just relax the arm to a straightened elbow and keep the triceps relaxed, you should be able to do that now.
I've been wallowing in self pity lately and away from the computer...I come back and lo! MP is broken! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!
I'll be thinking about you as I lay around with the dogs and contemplate sweeping up dog hair. :p
Oh I miss sweeping...
But the world has changed, and I have left my prior career and am taking all the fun pre-medical classes - which means I have an exam on these bones and the muscles that hold them a week from today:) Bet I won't forget this one:D
I just saw this, OH MY!!!!!! How are you feeling now MP?
Blueberry, I hope things are going well for you :)
That's a real bummer. Heal up well!
Just to repeat: MP broke her scapula some years back. I'm not sure why this thread got dredged, but MP's fine now (at least I'm pretty sure).
Yes - as Jo and others noted, this is an OLD thread. My scapula (while still technically broken) has healed up just fine in the past 5 years. Thanks a lot for the well wishes, though!
God forbid. I try to avoid it.
I believe I am due one as well... ;) Especially as I debated the exact change you are doing 16 years ago...
Don't assume. ;) You know nothing of my mental health. :p
